  1. If you work around electricity long enough, your going to get shocked. Usually it either kills you or annoys you, so the good news is if your not dead then your fine.
  2. What EarthbendingProdigy already said. Your fat will be consumed to provide the additional calories required for muscle formation. That is why you consume fewer calories than required to maintain respiration to lose fat to begin with.
  3. I contracted Twilight Sparkle's name with that of physicist Paul Dirac. I figured being such a science nerd Twilight deserved a better last name than "Sparkle".
  4. Now you've made me hungry for steak. I hope your happy.
  5. You can devote yourself to God while still embracing the former category rather than the latter. I am a practicing Catholic but still believe that the Grand Canyon was created by Colorado river over eons as opposed to 40 days in the flood (hydrodynamics does not work that way AND the Bible says nothing about the flood digging canyons) and that the Earth is 4.5 billions years old as measured by lead radioisotope dating rather than 5,000 years as claimed by young Earth creationist (counting the generations from Adam is admittedly a creative trick, but I don't think this is really the point of the Bible).
  6. Sounds like a cool project. Your going to spend a lot of time programming the AI. Also be aware the electric powered VTOL drones (you probably want to avoid using a gas powered vehicle for this) usually get 10 - 20 minutes tops off a lithium charge. I fly electric RC helos so if you want any advice on the topics just go ahead and PM me.
  7. I actually can't stomach most children's cartoons anymore. I don't know what it is, I think I have just seen the same basic plot threads a million times before and just don't feel like going through them again. MLP can get away with predictable plots because I really like the characters and the show is usually pretty good at adding its own spin to those plots. One cartoon I can recommend however is Avatar: The Last Airbender. Arguably some of the best western animation ever made. This is a work of art, definitely worth seeing.
  8. "You're never beyond saving" is practically the tag line of Christianity. You can always rejoin the church. Nobody will hold it against you.
  9. Nobody likes politics but that in and of itself is no reason to dislike the whole country. If you are growing really frustrated with your country, I suggest looking up what human beings used to do to other human beings in the World History books or even what they still do to each other in places like Africa and the Middle East. Upon reflecting this, suddenly the fact that your local municipality can't synchronize the traffic signals to save its life doesn't seem to be that big of a problem anymore, along with any other governmental problem that happens to be bothering you at the moment.
  10. People who don't clean up after there dogs. Honestly, if you have a dog, it either needs to relieve itself on your own property or you need to clean up after it. I live in a rather nice condo community and probably the worst part about it is there are dog turds everywhere all the time. It is absolutely disgusting and trashes what are otherwise rather nice surroundings.
  11. But the extra flight is being done by people, not airplanes. So it would only increase the demand for food. But germany had airships anyway. They obviously decided that crossing the Atlantic in a poorly maneuverable hydrogen filled balloons to attack the U.S. when the U.S. had fighter planes was suicide. How would flying people change that? If anything, if people could fly, the zeppelins would risk being downed by any idiot pyromaniac in addition to fighter planes.
  12. I found the problem. I don't have permission to enter because I haven't posted enough on these forums. The debate pit must not appear until then. Kind of odd, as I do have enough post to post in the Life Advice forum, which has a post containing suicide hotline information stickied at the top. You would think that would be a more sensitive forum than one based on people pissing in the wind over politics. Thanks for all the help though.
  13. Odd, the debate pit is not appearing in my browser at all. There is nothing between the "Planning to buy something from Amazon" entry and the page navigation bar. The subforums list just isn't there.
  14. Your awfully pessimistic. I would love to be able to fly, and I don't see why it would make the world any worse. In regard to your points Not unless we also had super endurance. Your not suggesting we fly clean over the Atlantic. Also, I don't real see early discovery as a bad thing. I really think we would still require 20th century industrial and telecommunication infrastructure to back up Globalization. And again, I don't see anything wrong with globalization. We would still need to move around all manner of goods. I don't think anyone would be happy flying with a hundred pounds of stuff on their back. Ground and sea transportation would still be the cheapest way to move stuff. We would still need trucks, trains and cargo ships. Um, why? We might require more food because flight takes a lot of energy, but the rest of our industries really wouldn't be affected. World War I and II were really cruel, bloody and destructive. I don't see how flying would change that. Also, as above, no one is going to be flying straight over the Atlantic, so the U. S. would still be relatively safe.
  15. Is there an actual debate pit, because I haven't found one anywhere on this website?
  16. They got a convention in Tampa. That is only about two hours away. I will have to check it out.
  17. I have never understood the objection to hunting. I don't hunt myself, I like having my meat "pre-killed" as it were. But I have never understood why acquiring the meat yourself is any worse than outsourcing that job to the agricultural industry. What is the difference between walking into an Outback steakhouse and ordering the baby back ribs versus going out into the woods, shooting a boar, skinning it, dressing it and eating it? A living animal dies either way. I tend to hold a lot of respect for hunters. They are going out a working their ass off to acquire food while I am sitting around on my rear end reading a book and sipping sangrias while I pay some poor overworked college student to get my meat for me. Sure the hunters also enjoy the challenge, but you should enjoy both your careers and your hobbies. I don't see any wrongdoing here.
  18. It needs to end when the writers run out of ideas. If it runs indefinitely it will run into the gutter like any other creative work that has been allowed to run well past its expiration date (see Simpsons, South Park, Peanuts, etc.). The last thing you want is all the episodes you now a love to be mixed in with garbage that only exist to earn the writers their next paycheck. Good creators with integrity will retire their work when the time comes to prevent this from happening (see Avatar The Last Airbender and Calvin & Hobbes).

    mega thread Feminist Club!

I think that is kind of the point. Parents want to know they can bring their kids to the movies without them being exposed to that kind of stuff. Exposing kids to dirty language and degrading sexual content is what we have middle school for.
  20. We already can travel through spacetime. We just can't go outside the light cone.
  21. I would go to a convention if there was one close enough. Oddly enough, there does not appear to be any brony conventions near Orlando, which is strange because Orlando tends to play host to this sort of thing.
  22. I absolutely love Pepsi and Coke. If I am not careful I can down several glasses of it in one sitting. It makes managing my waistline really hard.
  23. Your trying to tell me that controlled nuclear fusion has been around for thousands of years and someone that vast majority of the world just hasn't noticed. I must of missed the part in my history books where the Romans used their nuclear powered war machines to beat back Carthage. And if it has been working for ten straight years, where are all these cold fusion generators? Why can't I buy one at my local Home Depot? I am sure I could find some deuterium on the open market and then I would never have to pay the electric bill again. You think these things would be selling like hot cakes if they actually worked.
