  1. Although I love a good song, honestly i am kind of glad they did not try to shoehorn one into it. Personally I think a song would have broken the flow of the episodes and just forced even more of an unnecessary rush to it all considering how rushed it felt at the end as is. 3 minutes is a lot of real estate for a 22 minute program trying to both tell a story and get to an acceptable conclusion.
  2. For some reason I suspect she will have a major role in the upcoming film with some episodes kind of building up to that. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing is open for debate.
  3. I don't hate her, but I also don't find her all that interesting either for the most part. I just see her has any other side character to be honest and there are several other side characters I just happen to like far more than her. And speaking only for myself here, as much as I do love the Mane 6, I enjoy seeing episodes with side characters and supporting cast since the show is called "My Little Pony" and not "The Mane 6"... but at the end of the day, I just don't find her as interesting a character as I do some others. Also, as much as I get what people are saying and why they are saying it when I keep seeing phrases like this uttered again and again, the fact is the very idea of doing so goes against every single thing the show stands for and plays itself to. People are demanding shackles and irons, hot coals and lethal injections when the very premise of the show at its core is love, friendship and forgiveness even if at times it becomes somewhat ridiculous in certain aspects. But to suddenly break that would destroy the very foundation of what the show is and why most people got into it in the first place. It's a half hour kids/family friendly show, not a real life documentary.
  4. I also liked the scrolls gag and found myself laughing at the sneakiness of it. The rest were somewhat funny but nothing that made me laugh out loud like that one did. The punishment did fit the crime.. they pranked her back. Pretty damn well at that. Although I will grant you the brick in the sandwich one to a degree since that did seem out of character for RD considering it would legitimately hurt somepony and not just annoy or infuriate them... although to be honest you have to be the most oblivious yokel in the world to not notice a brick in your sandwich.
  5. I enjoy them. The quality between issues can vary, and some of the stories are hit or miss for me, but as has been mentioned I find them a fun and simple diversion between episodes of the show. A couple of the issues would have been perfect in my opinion for translation into episodes of the show... especially a couple of the early arcs such as the first 3 or so. Also I am guilty of liking Night of the Living Apples as a story way more than i reasonably should have considering many seem to dislike it.
  6. In MLP I collect anything that catches my eye and I can afford at the given moment. Mostly figurines and statues and the like. I also collect virtually anything Play Arts and Play Arts Kai, horror and monster figures and memorabilia, steampunk flavored stuff and several other assorted vinyl figures and statues. I used to collect comics as well, but a flood put an end to all of that.
  7. Been wanting it for a while and finally got the opportunity to get one at a reasonable price.
  8. I'll echo fingers since I really enjoy being able to use them. I imagine it would be quite an adventure in itself manipulating anything without them... especially soda cans/bottles, shoelaces, scissors, toilet paper and needle and thread. Not saying those things are all in Equestria... but they sure might be. Unless I can be a unicorn in which case problem solved. Also if I crossed over into Equestria carrying my MLP DVD sets, would they suddenly count as documentaries?
  9. They are probably not all "traditional" but I tend to identify them most with these fantasy species/beings... Twilight Sparkle: Djinn Rainbow Dash: Sylph Applejack: Dwarf Rarity: Siren Fluttershy: Nymph Pinkie Pie: Leprechaun
  10. I suppose when I went from watching a couple of episodes to finding myself actively seeking information about the show, looking up forums and reading wikis and such upon it. Then it just progressed naturally into merchandise and fan-fiction and the like. I really have trouble with this sort of question though at times... probably because I don't see myself as a "typical brony" at times, or even at all sometimes I suppose. Mainly because the term is used either derogatorily by a large group of people to identify it as some sort of taboo outside of the accepting circle, or because a great many people (even in the fandom) use the term to somehow differentiate themselves in such a way as if they themselves are somehow committing a type of taboo or engaging in some sort of negative activity. I realize that is just an odd way of thinking or looking at it overall so maybe that does not make a lot of sense. It might also be because I don't know anyone around me who also enjoys the fandom. I honestly just enjoy the show, adore the characters, like the universe it exists within and find the ideas and thoughts behind it all refreshing if not cliched or hackneyed at times. I don't feel like I "became a brony"... I feel like I discovered an amazing world with equally amazing potential and one I hope to continue exploring for several years to come.
  11. Space Marines. I am biased. I like 40k. The royal guards just don't strike me as all the capable outside of dealing with loiters and random fanponies looking for autographs and pictures.
  12. Thinking on it, the show itself has not "taught" me anything... but it has led me to rethink certain things in my life and re-evaluate my attitude and opinions in several situations. Although in general the messages and "lessons" delivered within the show are common sense and pretty much ideas taught early in life, it is amazing how easily forgettable, lost and just plain abandoned many of those ideals are. I may have learned most of those things at an early age, but in this ever increasing self-centered world I have not found myself applying them as much as i could be or would like to.
  13. I don't really bother with Hot Topic for anything MLP related to be honest. That being said, when I do happen in to them from time to time I don't honestly see much product on the shelves outside of the occasional shirt or something. However, a local comic/hobby shop sells the product pretty well and has a decent influx of new stuff coming in regularly, if not in small quantities depending on the items in question, as well as offering store searches and pre-ordering on many of the items. The only real issue is they tent to be way overpriced. Also I have seen quite a few interesting items at a local half price book store as well.
  14. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Twilight Sparkle How did you find MLP Forums?: Ran across a forum topic quite a ways back, then just stalked anonymously from that point onward. Finally decided to give up lurking and just sign up. How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: Dumb luck I suppose. And the flu.Mostly flu. Also Night Glider is best Non-Mane 6 Pony. Warning: Long winded intro below. Because I am long winded. Well, like many others I did not discover the show nor fandom until well after it was underway. I saw a few television adverts and some merchandise here or there, and remembered there was a thing once upon a time called My Little Pony back in the day, but being a die hard Transformers fan, I had little time or interest for colorful magic farting baby horses. So a couple of seasons had already passed me by before I happened to accidentally catch an episode and give it a chance. Honestly I really had no desire to try the show at all and just was really too biased to look beyond my first initial thoughts when I saw those original adverts. But then a strange thing happened... whether by luck or fluke or what have you, I found myself sick and stuck in bed. I normally keep my cable channels tuned to the Science channel, History, Discovery or a couple of other select channels and at the given moment there was nothing on any of them I had not already seen or had any overwhelming desire to watch. One of those saved channels was The Hub (which had already become Discovery family), mainly for several Warner cartoons it used to air as well as then current favorite Transformers Prime. Channel flipping I ran smack dab into an episode of MLP:FIM... Putting Your Hoof Down to be exact... right at the part where Flutttershy is just attending Iron Will's seminar. I paused and watched just to see how awful the show was because, you know... car crashes and all. I had every intention to loathe the show and swap channels after a few seconds and forget it ever happened... but I didn't. I ended up watching the rest of the episode, and told myself it was not bad while deep down truthfully enjoying it. Enjoying it enough to watch the next episode that came on, and liking that one as well. Surely this had to be some sort of mistake right? I could not possibly like this show!!!! I just couldn't!!! Well, the next day I caught a couple of more episodes, and from there I went back and watched the entirety of season 1 in order, followed by the rest of the seasons in order until i was caught up. So yeah.. it was not a mistake and I realized I did indeed "like this show". Since then I have gotten into the comics, picked up some of the Funco collectibles and badgered a couple of other random people about this unusual hobby of mine. I have done some fan fiction on the show mostly exploring the areas outside of Equestria proper because as much as I like the characters and concept, the world itself is so full of untapped potential. Outside of that I am pretty big into the Steampunk scene, Gothic horror, really bad b-grade horror, dark literature, astronomy, alternative history, poetry, philosophy and anomalous phenomena. And of course, really big robots. TL;DR = Hi! I am semi-sorta new and joined to not be just another forum stalker.
