I haven't seen a desktop theme this well done since Windows 98. I tried Window blinds to put a desktop theme together, but it kind of sucks, whenever I exit full screen with some apps, it causes the taskbar to move upward.

Not feeling the best today, no, I haven't got a cold or flu, my health isn't the issue at the moment. However it's disheartening to be made aware of a friend who passed away, I mean I hadn't spoke to him for months since this happened and really this came at an unexpected time, he was still a fairly young adult, nowhere near pension age, and to be reminded of the impermanence of life just like that, well, it's not a nice feeling. Yeah, another reason why I wished my MLP fan fiction could be true, so a part of everyone would exist indefinitely. My fanfic does involve the afterlife and reincarnation, as I am sure some of you already know. But fairy tales are just that, it's all they are. So if I ever finish my fanfic I don't advice anyone treat it like a religion or anything like that, that's not what it's for. Value the life of family and friends while you still have them, as they are not going to be around forever. In the end, we all end up in the same place, a graveyard.

Resampling does suck, however without high quality gear it doesn't matter. Very few media players support bit perfect playback in Windows from what I noticed. Media Monkey does, so does Jriver. But it's not supported in Winamp or Windows Media Player Legacy, or Groove. I don't know if it's supported in Foobar2000 or MusicBee but last I checked VLC player it was not. As far as I know, for bit perfect audio output, we need an app which supports either ASIO or WASAPI exclusive mode. ASIO is also dependent on if our audio device supports it, motherboard audio often doesn't. But you get what you pay for, which goes back to the 100$ DAC thing I mentioned in a different thread. But there is a limit to what external DACs are able to do, the rest is up to your amplifier all the way up to your headphones. Some people claim accurate PCM requires an R2R DAC, an old technology much like tube amps, but I have not seen any evidence related to double blind tests which prove that R2R is objectively better than Delta Sigma. People claim R2R is better but I bet most of them could not tell the difference if they compared them in a fair test. At least that's what AudioScienceReview indicates, Amir also knows what he is talking about. A Youtube video is not a fair test of either of these DAC types, as lossy compression destroys any detail which would have made this possible, so people cannot judge the differences with that. No matter how it processes the signal, what matters is if the differences are audible to human ears, and if they are not, then the claimed differences beyond that is generally regarded as a scam or marketing hype IMO.

Goodness, Rapidash is such a powerhouse with Leftovers as a held item in Pokemon Crystal. An invincible fire horse almost. If I had known this Pokemon was this powerful before the current playthrough began I wouldn't have bothered with Cyndaquil, I would have chosen Totodile instead. Rapidash may not be considered a pseudo legendary but honestly, with the right build, it may as well be in my opinion. It has awesome stats as well. I'm seriously considering taking that to Battle Tower when I have finished leveling it up.

I was just trying to put a smile on people's faces, that said yeah it ain't cool to laugh at people for wearing dresses. Had she been a real person or Pony, she'd consider that unfair and rightfully so. That Nelson from The Simpsons reaction video I posted a link to in response to a fan image of RD wearing a dress, had she been real, she would consider that joke as in poor taste and it wouldn't reflect well on my character in that case. She is not real though.

Was the Nyquist Shannon theorem correct on CD audio? yes. Unfortunately audio recordings are not perfect and have to be filtered. This is why oversampling is needed, from what I learned about this by looking this up online, you also have to take into account things like quantization noise. But from what I researched so far, I learned with a sufficiently suppressed noise floor, 96db dynamic range is plenty. Some people claim they can hear above 20khz frequency but that has not been scientifically proven, worse, as we get older, that range of hearing gets reduced. For the finished product, 44.1khz 16bit is spot on, this is why the redbook CD standard has held up. But with content creation, it gets more complicated, and that is best done by professionals, not me.

I got one of these and managed a stable overclock of 2.6ghz on CPU, no voltage increase. Was on 2.8ghz but that crashed it, so I had to dial it back a little. I did this with a setup that uses a passive cooler, making the system silent, doesn't get particularly hot either. I may just use this for my Magni Unity headphone amp. While it is hardly a powerhouse compared to the numerous other options out there, at the price you'd pay for this thing, you could do much worse. What it does well? it's compact and cheap. It's not terrible, but you do get what you pay for, just know the limits of it before you consider buying one of these. You also won't be running apps exclusively designed for x86 on this without emulation, either.

I can't think of many newer versions of songs that improved on what an original did, in some cases they can be terrible, however I would say the song Rave Alert by Praga Khan and Jade U4 is a more upbeat version of Rave Alarm that came out before it, which is not surprising as it came from the same artist. I cannot speak for Lords of Acid, I do not know anything about their performances with whatever song that came from them. Rave Alert 1992, the remastered version, is very dynamic, and with the right audio gear, feels like you're there to listen to their live performance. About Rave Alert 1992, formerly known as Rave Alarm 1991, I never liked the original, in my opinion, it was boring, and without the vocals from Jade 4 U, there is no rave feeling in the song, what dopamine could you possibly get from a song like that? Normally I do not care about what songs other people like or prefer, but I don't know why people praise the original version of this particular song so much. It's just deadpan instrumental noise with no humanity in it, the high pitched, monotonous instrumentals themselves were grating on the ears, almost like nails on a chalkboard, and why I hated the original one. In a rave song, in my opinion, it made far more sense for it to sound like you were at a rave concert, and without this, you have this sense that nobody cared about the music enough to show up at a rave! if you want to listen to that at a party, be my guest, but I cannot say it's my cup of tea. I find the newer version linked below, to be more engaging, and I am not alone in thinking this, if you have a pair of decent headphones with a wide soundstage, you'd probably see where I'm coming from. In short, rave song with no vocals = boring, and the lyrics are not terrible in this one, either, Jade 4 U/Praga Khan and their audience clearly had a good time with this one. Injected with a Poison is another notable example where vocals work so well in a rave/EDM song, it's more than just about voice, it is about expressing your passion for a fun night out, that's what music is about, fun, in this case, pure 90's bliss. This point is emphasized further with this part of the lyrics of the song from Nikkie Van Kielorp herself. "The night is neverending and I can't stop The room is spinning round I'm going to the top Moving and grooving, feeling allright Tonight we'll be raving 'cos the music's high" Pertaining to what I mentioned earlier about the undue praise the original version of the song got, people seriously think positive vibes like this in the newer version makes this objectively worse than the original? for the record, I'm not talking about subjectivity, if you admit your opinion is subjective, this doesn't concern you, however, if people are going to state their opinions and pass them off as fact, to that I say, please provide a reason, don't just make a claim. I've already given my reasons, and I didn't just vapidly call something "based" or "They ruined this" without substance to my point of view, a criticism that is not informed can feel like an indirect attack on people who like something, and using nostalgia to justify that is, even worse IMO. Why do I say that? because it shows an inability to adapt or try something new, it's a can't do better fallacy, that is why nostalgia alone is never a good reason, a concept can be original and bad in its execution at the same time, and I believe it to be the case here, it's not a simple matter of reinventing the wheel. I'm not saying instrumentals are inherently bad, it depends on the context however I do not believe it works as well for this specific genre. Some people may disagree, some people may even dislike this song altogether in which case this song doesn't matter to them, they may think my taste in 90's songs is bad, but that is as subjective as liking any song or form of entertainment, whatever, however I bought a copy of this version with Conquers Your Love remastered on Bandcamp and never looked back. If I wanted to listen to instrumentals, I would be listening to a different kind of song, many of the best instrumentals I can think of existed in video games. That is not to say good instrumentals never existed outside of video games, but IMO nostalgia in itself is not a good reason to prefer something over another. I have a soft spot for Sega Genesis soundtracks, but guess what? even I can admit the limitations of the Yamaha chip hurt the music more than helped, Streets of Rage 2 music hasn't aged well and feels dated, even for a soundtrack that came out in the 90's, the YM2612 was widely criticized for holding the system back from what could have been. I am not making this post to offend anyone, only to share different perspectives while explaining the reason for my preferences. TDLR; passion put into the song, any song, regardless of the artist or band, matters as much as the song itself.
