World Cup Opening Ceremony Thread

Hey guys,

 

This is it. The Mareicana is getting its final touches done to welcome all Equestria to the 2014 MLPF World Cup set to begin almost 24 hours from now! How exciting is that?! 

 

 

There will indeed be a World Cup Opening Ceremony at 7:00 pm EST tomorrow, and I hope you all can be there for the surprises we have in store for you! Also use this thread to cheer on for your favourite pony as loudly as you want (just be courteous about it.)

 

Also, to get you guys even more fired up, here's the character anthems you guys can sing along with before every World Cup match, just like the FIFA World Cup! Enjoy!

We'll use this thread for the Opening Ceremony events and pre-tournament fanmareing/fancolting (are either of those words existant here?? haha) etc. Then, the focus will shift back to the WC thread for voting and cheering etc etc!

The World Cup Opening Ceremony in Sterling's point of view (Part 1)

 

It was a long and excruciating year. Sterling Crimson was tired. He spent much of the year travelling all across Equestria. Who would have thought that hosting a World Cup would take so much effort? He had to meet with all 32 participants and tell of another world he passed through a portal. He had to tell them that there were so many fans who wanted to cheer them all on and that they wanted to have a wonderful tournament that would glorify them all while pitting them in friendly, yet competitive voting matches. He recalled being surprised that all the ponies accepted the challenge, noting that they were honoured to have so many fans out there! He recalled the amount of effort it took to organize all the tables and make them available to journalists to keep track of the tournament’s progression. Finally, he remembered the effort needed to prepare the Opening Ceremony… He remembered the stadium being ready for use and Princess Celestia too noted that ties with the natives and the ponies who travelled from Equestria to seek new territories would be vital to starting a friendly relationship with them all. He remembered the lush green forests and being green with envy at their beautifully tropical weather. He remembered Fluttershy speaking of the diversities of animal life there and how much she wanted to explore as he invited her to Hayzil...

 

T-minus 20 minutes... it was almost time... the ponies and humans were beginning to crowd the Mareicana, to signal 4 years of friendship between humanity... all this preparation... all the colourful decorations... all the peoples and ponies... it was almost time to start.

Now was not the time for memories. In the confines of the 70,000 seat Mareicana Stadium in Hayzil, the Ceremony that would kick off the 2014 Equestrian (MLPF) World Cup was about to begin. There lay a screen that stretched to the top of the Mareicana and across the pitch for all to see. It was counting down to the start of the World Cup… Sterling rushed back to the present after seeing the countdown clock. He remembered everything that was done to get the show going… Now it was time for the games to begin… 5… 4… 3… 2… 1…

 

WELCOME WORLD!!!

 

 

As the video played to introduce the characters, the crowds roared in delight. They too had experienced the anger and might of the tyrant Tirek. After the song had finished, the crowd roared with horns and toy trumpets, creating a sound that resonated throughout the stadium. Just seeing all the ponies and people cheer left Sterling in tears as the proceedings continued…

“Bronies and Pegasisters… Fillies and Gentlecolts… The time… has come! Four years ago… a new bond was formed between the pony realm and the human realm! It is one of friendship… courage… and love! The bronies and pegasisters have long heard of the mighty tales of Equestria, and we all… are a part of that tale. Whether it be the sinister motives for eternal night, or the simple desire to wreak havoc to all that is good, the magic of friendship has triumphed. TODAY is a GLORIOUS day! We mark 4 years of strength and trust… In these four years, the human race has come to learn about the magic of friendship… Ponies have come to learn about the magic of friendship… EVEN EVIL has come to learn the magic of friendship… The 2014 MLPF World Cup… HAS COME… TO HAYZIL! EQUESTRIA… HAS COME… TO HAYZIL! THE WORLD… HAS COME… TO HAYZIL!!! HELLO TO HAYZIL! HELLO TO EQUESTRIA!
