Man, metal is being real good to me today. I haven't listened to much the last week or two. I've been kinda depressed lately too and metal is cleansing me of that evil state of mind. \m/

Welp, I just got the crap bashed outta me for saying I like Death Magnetic more than Ride the Lightning. I guess that's what I get for voicing my opinions on the internet.

Anyway, Metallica.

I'm not particularly a fan of Metallica unless I'm in the mood for them and even then I only usually like a few of their songs. However, even though I've not heard all of their music I can honestly say I thought Death Magnetic had overall better quality than most songs I've heard by them from the past.

This song is utterly amazing. Easily one of the best songs I've heard in a very long time. O_O Edited by Discordian

Anyway, Metallica.

That's pretty much the worst least impressive song on Ride the Lightning. Anyway, here's Trapped Under Ice

Why didn't they play this song while they were in Antarctica?

I believe Crispy once said Escape is his favorite.

And to be honest, I never liked Trapped Under Ice that much.

Fade to Black is the best though:

Here's a relatively unknown one in North America. Though I am unsure why, they're really good.

I remember seeing that album cover somewhere, it as a while ago. Never bothered to actually listen to it before, but this is pretty neat.

I need more of this band.

Their actual first LP, Window To The World is alot better and has a much nicer guitar tone, but alas it isn't on Youtube.

Breaking from my normal 00's metalcore and such, anyone else like Racer X?

Racer X is sick, I like their riffs alotttt.

This band is great, I love how they mesh thrash and melodeath.

PAH!! Fetid! They hide their finest bean! PREPARE THE ATTACK!

Fuckin' Devy, man.

Here's one you guys might like. Gojira-Devin Townsend fusion. I rocked the fuck right out when I heard this the first time.

@,

I love how gutteral and brutal that song is. Haven't listened to death metal in a while.

@@Abstract,

That band isn't bad, I like them. I actually saw them at Heavy T.O. 2012. And back in 2008 at Gigantour in London Ontario.

Huhhuhhuh what? What release is that song from? Joe Duplantier x Devin Townsend is my OTP, as evidenced in Sumeria.

Also, anyone listened to Behemoth's 2014 yet? I've been listening to this song so many times, and like, all loud and heavy-like.

guise i'm gonna be releasing a metal EP soon, here's a little taster of things to come :D

Sounds really good dude! It gives me a really Corelia-like vibe.

Also, new Behemoth album is killer. It sounds like they've toned down their black metal influence and went for a more staight-up traditional death metal approach. I'm not complaining.

This has been in the works for a while, and this makes me happy. With real, lives drums too!

I'm actually quite glad that it sounds like Tosin's taking a further step back from writing strictly progressive metal and isn't afraid to let the creative juices flow with just more of a progressive style in general. I wouldn't be too surprised to see Animals As Leaders become something like Wintergataan, although alot more traditional in it's instrumentation.

Dude, nice work. Segment at 0:42 titfucks my buttcheeks, it's just that progressive. Kinda chuckled at shuffled-rhythm in a metal song at 1:50. I've only ever really heard shuffled rhythm in metal in Devin Townend's "Ziltoidia Attaxxx". I assume you're gonna keep all of this instrumental? That'd be fine.

Will check out some more Corelia really hard because of that. And as of right now, The Satanist is my favourite 2014 album. Blow those trumpets indeed.

Some good Death Prog directly from Sweden. The Twilight Is My Robe-Opeth (a very kickass band, one of my favorites)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpUfPP4KyRE&feature=kp

And here's another good piece of norwegian music: Alive-Circus Maximus. Sublime Power Prog Metal.

And, another good piece of Prog Metal with a really great atmosphere: Crack The Skye-Mastodon

And this is classified as Prog Metal, so I'll leave it here: Trains-Porcupine Tree. An awesome song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERQDxLsfrjw

And another really good and mournful song from Porcupine Tree, of the same album. A song about something gloomy: the regret. When we think: why i did/said/didn't/not said/ this? Why?.

Heartattack In A Layby-Porcupine Tree
