Since I have been given a break from my thespian duties, I raise a question. What do you do with stubborn fucks who just shut out all metal and refuse to accept it as what it really is; not a bunch of untalented motherfuckers mashing on instruments, but rather a very potent means of expression?

 

A friend of mine sent me the quote, "A rocker plays 5 chords in front of 800 people. A jazzman plays 50 chords in front of  8 people." He's only heard a little bit of Louis Armstrong (who isn't even a guitarist and plus it was probably "What a Wonderful World" anyway) and doesn't see the technical prowess of any bands I've shown him; he simply shuts me out and proceeds to try and fail at making note block songs in Minecraft.

 

Help me to get his head out of his ass and see the light.

Found this totally by accident. It feeds my love of power metal!

 

 

I admit clean vocals tend to make power metal work far better than a death growl though I've never been the type to hate growls and in fact, love them. I guess in a sense they are an acquired taste.

I thought that was really ignorant and it really pissed me off.

Oh and there's a difference between a scream and a growl. There's definitely FAR more growling than there is screaming in metal.

Yeah he clearly has no idea what heavy metal even is. I can guarantee he has never actually listened to it in his life. I was trying to tell him he was wrong but he wasn't really listening and I didn't want to get myself pissed off trying to argue with him. The thing is, there's tons of metal that doesn't even have any kind of screaming or growling...

Exactly. All the bands I mentioned have no screams or growling in them and have some of the best vocalists of all time. Go listen to Iced Earth's Dracula, it's an amazing song.
