Is "Generosity" one of the most underrated songs of the show?

I personally really enjoyed it - I can't say it's Rarebear's best song, but I think it captured her essence really, really well as well as had a catchy tune and sensible lyrics

It really displayed her personal generosity excellently, on top of being a good song that made my heart flutter just to listen to  But people call "Apples to the Core" and other songs from S4 better, but I don't see it. This is probably the most underrated song in the series, in my opinion.

I honestly cringed at the song as i felt if she din't need to play to a 'Manhattan/Broad Way' like style of music to fit the location,i could have enjoyed listening to her singing voice as usual.

But  im not too fond of the type of singing style anyways so take my words with a grain of salt lol.

Sorry... love the episode, not a big fan of the song. And I'm a fan of showtunes! The melody didn't really hook me in and most of my enjoyment came from the excellent visuals.

Littlest Pet Shop did it better.

I found it somewhat forgettable. There're some Rarity songs better than this one IMO... :(

I will say I do think AotD and EPsK are better songs but I don't find this to far behind.

The episode is great, but the song is easily one of the weaker points. The score and visuals (minus the stallion with the insipid Grumpy Cat cutie mark >_>) were solid, but the lyrics were the problem.

  1. It tells way too much. Rarity talks about her generosity excessively, and it's hammered in via blunt examples. Rarity's generosity succeeds better when presented more subtly, as the opposite makes her appear like she's bragging. The examples don't make her out of character, but they're very in-your-face.
  2. The lyrics are clunky and not so catchy. There's literally no oomph in the meters, and you don't get to see it truly crescendo until after it ends. Her generous spirit is shown, but the results don't come until later. It succeeds when telling the whole story, but when self-contained, it doesn't work.

I loved it, personally. I don't care if the lyrics are weak, but the song is still catchy.

I like the tune and broadway style. It's a decent song overall. The reason I say decent is because the lyrics are all about how she (rarity) is generous and everyone should "just sit back and watch, how I live". It is a self-pat song. Look at how great I am! I like rarity, but she is not THAT generous and the episode really didn't need that song.

I love Rarity's singing and most of the lyrics, but I never really cared for the instrumentals. I much prefer this remix:

I liked it.

There are SO many songs, though, so it's understandable why this song tends to be Outshined (*cough, Soundgarden reference*) by other songs.

Personally, I love "Hearts as Strong as Horses"... and many, many others.

I think Rarity has sang better in other songs than this one.

The song is good, but the lyrics are not the best,  They don't really have any rhythm to them, and they're a little too clunky and on the nose for me now that I think of it.

I still like it, but I think it's rather "middle of the pack" for the show.  Not nearly as good as Art of the Dress or Becoming Popular.

I really like it. It isn't my most favourite song of the series, and the lyrics are off, but I honestly liked it more than Becoming Popular. I also tend to really like songs with that Broadway/jazz theme to it. Definitely an underrated song. :3

This might be my least favorite song of the series. The lyrics really don't have a rhythm to them and flow really poorly imo. Not to mention it's not very catchy. So sorry, can't say it's underrated. But to each his own, right? Glad you guys like it :)

Naw, it's great and from what I gather a lot of people seem to love it. :)

There are songs on the show that are way more underrated though, especially the likes of Failure/Success Song and Raise This Barn(I LOVE Raise This Barn, and no one ever, ever talks about it).
