Wait will you be contacting us via email or here?
PM on the forum most likely, though if that's not the case one of the Admins can feel free to correct me.

I put in an application a while ago, but better post here while people are keeping tally. Hope to get in, it would be a wonderful oppurtunity to grow.

You know what I find both funny and sad at the same time?

I want to be a member of the staff, I express the willingness to want to do something with my life, unfortunately, like the CMC, I don't know my destiny and therefore I don't know where I would even want to be a moderator of!

Still alive and kicking, and being evil. But I'll never be as evil as EvilShy :(

Darn it.

Anyway. I just wanna say. I'M STILL ALIVE!!! :D

I kinda know the feeling. I've grown very fond of the RP section these days. :)

Simon is correct: the current plan is to contact applicants via PM on MLP Forums. If this changes I'll make sure to let everyone know.

I wouldn't worry about this too much :) When applying, I recommend identifying which section(s) you would be the most interested in moderating. You could just base this on which sections you enjoy using the most.

The administration is willing to be flexible, so if you hypothetically became a moderator for a section and wanted to moderate a different section at some point, that could probably be arranged.

I'm delighted to hear that actually. I was concerned whether I would end up facing this issue, but thank you for clarifying that. :)

Just to clarify, what exactly does a moderator do?

I mean, I have a vague idea, but I want to be 100% sure of what I get myself into.

Serve admin(s) hot chocolate and cake.

Actually, they slave over a hot computer as admins beat them with dirty, old shoes...  :P

Oh and...they're magical, so this is possible.

Wow, y'all are finally doing something like this? I would, but because of my inactivity, I think il wait a bit.

And if I really wanted to... I could always just creep on over to feld0's house and force him againced his will to do my bidding XD

But for now, I'm just enjoying being a long time member ^_^

lol, good one, but seriously, I have no idea what I would do as a moderator...

EDIT: nevermind, I ask some other people online at another site, and now I know what I would do. I think.

Moderators moderate conversations. Ban spammers, move topics to appropriate forums, and warn/take measures against those that break rules, right? Or was the person wrong?

Blackmailing feld0 to become moderator? That would be hilarious.

Becoming part of staff takes a while to get accustom too. One thing i should mentioned to you though.........forum staffing is all about "permissions" and also having the "knowledge" and minor experience in IT helps. As long as your active, provide detailed posts and responses, are willing to assist members and settle conflicts, then you'll do fine. Its a lot of work but if you got what it takes, then you'll do fine.

Its much more complicated than that. Those are more of the primary duties. I run somewhat down a different alley, b/c on a professional level, there are more duties. Here, there could be more, or less.

These are among the duties of MLP Forums moderators, yes. You can read full descriptions of what each group of staff members do in this FAQ article.

To quote the section regarding moderators:

Moderators (Guards/Praetoriani)

It is not by muscle, speed, or physical dexterity that great things are achieved, but by reflection, force of character, and judgment.

- Cicero

Moderators are the primary defense line against whatever is thrown at us. They have the ability to roam across the entire site, answering reports and keeping an eye on user behavior. Moderators also work on moderating blogs, status updates, and user accounts, as well as topic moderation and section responsibility. All moderators are 'global', in the sense that they are capable of moderating any section whatsoever. That said, all moderators have a section of the forum that they focus on, either because they have a personal interest in that section, or because they are incredibly active there.

Moderators have access over the warning system as well as being capable of hiding and editing posts/topics when necessary. They are responsible for keeping their sections polished by dealing with arguments when they arise or (more ideally) before they arise, tweaking tags and topic titles to better match the content of a topic or to correct grammar errors, proactively prowling their sections for things that have not yet been reported, issuing warnings to rule breakers, and dropping trains on trolls when they appear. They are also capable of moderating the blogging system and keeping an eye on status updates.

Administrators also assist with all of this, but focus primarily on administrative duties.

Apologies if the question has been asked already but how long does it take for you to receive feedback? I applied over a month ago. :P I'd assume that means I wasn't accepted but according to your front page you notify them if they were or were not accepted.

Of course your amount of applications is probably crazy high so that's understandable. I was just wondering. ;)

I think I should be a mod because I have several great ideas for the site, such as mass-purging all non-Rarity fans from this site for the purpose of the master race.

I feel suited for a leadership position where I have power over multitudes of people post-20419-0-44361200-1405880802.png

lol

But all jokes aside, I'd like to wish everyone applying good luck. I didn't apply, because it sounds like more responsibility than it'd be worth, but I'm sure some really good candidates applied, ones with the potential to make this community a much better place. Good luck, everyone!

The wait period is indefinite due to the high volume of applications we received and how long it takes to go through them with the level of thoroughness required. Everyone who applied will be contacted at some point, but it might take a few months depending on various factors.

I apologize for the lengthiness of the wait, but we have limited manpower and resources. Additionally, I'd rather take a long time to put together the best moderation team possible than to rush through it and end up making the wrong people moderators.

I have a personal question: Does anyone have the power to give a thread to another?

I ask because I have seen a RP thread that has a OP that, as far as I know, left the site, then the OOC thread (In charge of someone else for... complicated reasons...) has a owner who isn't responding. The way I see it, it is causing problems because if the original post isn't edited, it causes problems for new members of the RP. Like say, a pony dating thread. If not updated, it could cause hardcore role-players to fight over who is more worthy of dating, say, Fluttershy.

I ask because if I cannot do it, assuming I even get the role, I feel like it is an issue that needs to be handled. And because if it was to happen in every single thread I partake in, I don't wanna be that guy who goes to the mods saying, "So and so needs editing." every time something isn't updated.

None of our current moderation or administration tools can do this. If this is possible, it would likely need to be handled by Poniverse IT.

There is a hook in the IPS marketplace for this feature, but I'd have to contact its developer to find out if it'd be compatible with the current version of our software.
