Giddon stood at the door, and even now his frustrations were made all the more apparent.  While Bashful Thread could only hazard a guess at what Giddon was so angry about, he could hazard a guess.  It wasn't much of a matter, but clearly he couldn't trust Giddon thoroughly, especially with his little majic items he carried over him.  That was something that made him dangerous to Bashful, since Bashful didn't know much at all, and certainly couldn't execute, unless you considered projectile vomit to make a chrysalis a magical gift.  Most would just consider it disgusting.

After a few final moments of cleaning up after himself, he reached to the sign on the door, and flipped it over to display 'Closed'.  It was early, but surely they wouldn't mind.  It's not like it was a busy day for the little pony.  As he was about to step out, he saw It!  Sitting on the windowsill. It was a tiny locket, which he took in his hoof.  Opening it, there was a photo of Orange Lace, and Fire Cracker.  Bashful couldn't help but smirk a little, as he must have left it there when he was opening shop.

Then he looked to the empty room, with Giddon waiting impatiently at the door.

Bashful's shoulders sank down, as he went to the table, and pulled out a quill and ink, and began to scribble down something on a sheet of paper.  He chose his words carefully, but he still struggled with 'letters'.  Strange concept, but many things are strange among ponies.  After a moment, he folded the letter as Fire Cracker had done several times, and placed it on the table with the locket laid upon it, weighing the paper closed.

It was after that, he walked to the door, and exited with Giddon, locking the shop behind him.  He could only hope that Orange Lace would understand the letters.

"Alright Big Guy...  Lead the way."

Meeko might as well be an Atomic Cuteness Bomb dropped on this very location.

Lonk wanted to shout "AWWWWW" right then and there but that would be extremely childish and probably would ruin the moment.

So instead he said, "I guess keeping a Timberpup for a pet was a good idea after all.

@@Flinp,

"Hehe, no worries hun. Little rascal's just having some fun."

The mare chuckled slightly as she looked at the cat getting retrieved. Though she hadn't had cats per se in her days since she had been a little foal, she knew enough about the small felines to know that you shouldn't be mad at them in general for slashing, hissing, biting and stuff. Usually there were a good reason if you stepped back and thought about it, and really, the lil' thing couldn't be a threat to her even if it wanted to anyway, so no need to be miffed at it.

"As for the house, I can't say it sounds familiar. I ain't local and I've not spent much time strolling around town, but if you want, I can help you look? I've dozed enough off for now I'd say, and I can't have youngsters run around the forest alone anyway, even if it isn't that far in. My nephew wouldn't let me hear the end of it if I let somepony in danger like that."

She stretched her legs and back a bit and let out a relived sigh before looking over the colt again with her big, hazel eyes and a smile on her face. She were ready to get a move on now.

"Name's Crash Course by the way. Good to meet you dear."

A bit of shuffling were heard in the corner as he got nearer, though after a bit hesitant steps started to go towards Veiled Storm.

"I-I don't know. The mad ones dragged you in some time ago, but I don't... I can't tell how long. Less than a day, but I don't think that helps much."

It took time before the female got close enough to be seen as more than first a voice, then a vague shape, but eventually Veiled would be able to see the head of the small gryphon girl poke into a more lighted area, though the rest of her were still rather hidden.

She looked like a scrawny young one of her kind, mid teens more than likely with a pale-yellow beak, tri-colored eyes (blue, onyx and pink), and the feathers on hear head were predominately white with a blue colour adding in a contrast here and there in a spotty pattern.

"I'm Florence. and I... Well, it's good that you're okay."

"Only three? it will barely be a fight."

Ashta split off immediately after the comment along with Ko, to find the prime share of their intended targets.

It didn't please him that he were cut off from the main action in town with the ancient one, especially since The Traveller might be there, but he had his orders and failure to follow would only end in death and/or dishonour to him, neither of which sounded good in his mind. He hadn't spent this long rising through the ranks only to fail his duties because he wanted someplace a bit more fun in this assignment after all, even if the thought had been briefly tempting.

Still, it wasn't like he wouldn't have something to do. Him and Ko would have three targets all for themselves after all, and if they were really somewhat dangerous, this might even become more fun than the simple, easy kills that they sometimes had to drag through. He were not a fan of those, but they were supposed to be efficient and do that when it were possible, regardless of him wanting to play with his prey a little before the entertainment value would stop, so what were he to do? Orders were orders after all.

"Little piggy, little piggy, take the chance and run. For those who'll end you are on the way, and would like to have some fun."

Chittering laughter escaped him for a brief moment, and he sped up a little more. Much like a small child waking up on christmas day, he could hardly wait to get over and find his presents sitting under the tree. Just waiting for him, and for the fun they'd have before his toys would inevitably break.

Same form, same limitations it seemed. Giddon had hoped that the changeling would have picked a form that could fly, but instead... *sigh* They had barely started and already they were going to be delayed. Just fantastic.

"Straight this way."

He took a turn towards the east side of town and walked down the dusty path with the tailor in tow. The route weren't hard really to where they were going. it would be east for about and hour, then north for roughly half of that, and then they'd more or less be there. Sure, the time Could be cut roughly in half overall if they were flying, but he had to work with the cards he were able to get, and right now that were these limitations.

Sure, he Could just grab Bashful and fly off with him, since he didn't seem too heavy, but then he'd either get yelled at for being efficient or being called out as some sort of kidnapper. Heck, with how things had gone so far, it wouldn't surprise him if Bashful would do both, as well as something more. Hassle he didn't have the time nor want to handle right now.

He wasn't going to say anything to Bashful before they had gotten out of the limits of the civilised area, as he didn't want to discuss anything regarding this job whilst others could hear it. But who knew? Perhaps the changeling would say something not related to it before being away from others he might respond to.

He wasn't thinking it'd be anything not in some way insulting to him, but it wasn't like they were old friend trying to re-bond here either. Frankly, chances were better that they'd try to push eachother of a cliff than exchange any pleasantries within the foreseeable future. Something that'd do absolutely nothing as they both had wings, but there was still just something satisfying about the thought.

...Perhaps an idea to keep in mind in case this kept getting more sour.

Sylar approached Ponyville quickly, only to find that his target were trapped on the other side of a wind barrier. It was nothing he couldn't handle as it were designed more to keep creatures in rather than keep them out. With proper timing and the right amount of force, the armored, pony sized spider propelled himself through the barrier, swords drawn, targeting the source of the tracking spell's signal. Hopefully he could catch Vivid unaware and end this quickly, that is, if the barrier didn't affect his trajectory more than he expected, but he had experience on his side.

Meanwhile, within the barrier, The Forgotten One took advantage of Zhu's trap, scooping up another victim, his hand becoming visible to Vivid while he reached through the layers of the world. Before he could do anything to this random civilian, which was now floating through the air as far as anyone other than Vivid could tell, the pony spirit ran toward him, ramming him as hard as he could. The Forgotten One was unamused, dropping his victim and turning his attention to the spirit that dared defy him. Ink saw the falling pony and snapped out of his panic, flying in to catch her.

"It says 'urgent' on it..." The night before, Luna wrote the letter intending to send Rainbow Dash to Moonlit's house first thing in the morning so she wouldn't be waiting. Being a Princess, she was aware of the events going on around Equestria, so she marked the letter 'urgent' to ensure it would be delivered quickly. She knew that Rainbow Dash would want to see the show, but that wasn't happening until later in the day. Rainbow Dash had decided to go early so she could check some of the stores for the latest Daring Do books. Florence walked a bit more forward, showing her wings bound in cloth covered in magical markings. A binding spell for sure, and not one she were able to get rid off from the looks of things. Not before somepony had a chance to remove the spells anyway.

"The door is locked, but it's not that hard to get up. I sorta... Well, my uncle taught me how to pick locks, but it's not easy to get out. All of those weird cultists are just... There all of a sudden. They got me before I had a chance to even find the exit in whatever place this is."

She walked a bit more forward towards Veil, but still seemed somewhat hesitant, as if she expected the pony to be with the cult and just playing along to make her easier to work with or something. Being kidnapped weren't an unusual starting point for paranoia, so that might explain some of it, but there were something underlining with it. Not something easy to pinpoint, but considering the circumstances, it were likely Veil had more important things on his mind.

As for the room otherwise, Veil wouldn't be able to find anything in there really. There were a few chains on the wall opposite the door where it seemed truly unruly victims were kept that seemed a little loose, a yellow and white stripped scarf, a few places with dried blood on the cold stone, and if he looked around enough, a small earring of a butterfly and a loose tone around the size of a parasprite. There were nothing that could really be used as a weapon if that were his intend, though potentially he could fashion up something if he were resourceful.

As for exits, the only way out would be the sturdy door. No hidden buttons or anything in this dungeon unfortunately, which at least told that whoever had cobbled this one up wasn't a complete imbecile who would let anypony get away RPG style.

Still, there were going to be Some things that wasn't the same, and Meeko Had been taught up as a wild flock animal after all. Sure, he were the lowest ranking of his flock and not too attached to any of the others, but there would be some things that were going to be a challenge to overcome and accept more than likely. But that were worried to come, and she could at least be thankful about the smell considering that he were still a kind of wood as opposed to an actual wolf, so he wasn't going to smell like wet or dirty dog per general as much as just... Well, hardwood flooring more or less.

So, Adante had taken off to be a hero to the townsponies, Quinch were between confused at what were going on and talking to somepony yapping off from what she had vaguely glanced, and the spirit she were being guided by had charged whatever the thing were that were attacking the town.

That last part were what she were really focused on. Not where Adante were, not what the pony with the missing brother were yapping on about. Not even what Quinch were thinking or doing completely at this moment. No, her eyes were fixated on the hand that had suddenly appeared and dragged on a pony. The pony in question were dropped as the spirit charged into the thing, but the dead wouldn't be the only ones descending on him. No, so would the three hands with the razor-sharp claws.

As soon as the pony had been taken up, the hands were on route, surrounding the limb and preparing to strike whilst trying not to hit the civilian. Something that for QUinch Might end up looking like it were Vivid that were doing something to said civilian in the first place. When the pony were dropped however, there weren't a need for a distraction anymore and the hands would smash down, claws first, towards the limb, with the intend of trapping and injuring the being at the same time, and hopefully forcibly drag it into a state were she could see it for herself without needing what would potentially end up being a soon-eaten spirit.

She would attempt to send a tentacle to grab him and get him away from the beast as well, but it would eat the last of her attention towards what went on in other places around her. Such as the spider-like creature that had her life as his goal.

Sylar wouldn't get through the winds as easy as he might think though. He would get through the barrier with little issue to his trajectory, but when passed, a strong wind would push him upwards and change his trajectory to - unless he did something about it - a nearby roof.

Depending on whatever or not he were going to hit higher ground as a result, he would have an easy time taking notice of who were opposing him. Zhu were not hard to miss if you looked after all, considering his size, or the fact that he stood on a lone roof looking down on things. More specifically, his glowing yellow eyes were focused on the intruder in their midst whilst the wind carried his words towards the pesky warrior. Words that should at least reach him regardless on how he handled the wind.

"Leave her."

Zhu were not going to let the spider being get close enough to attempt a killing blow on Vivid that easy, though if the trajectory were well saved... The odds were low from what he had seen, but it weren't impossible, in which case he would have to rework his plan somewhat to fit the change in players.

Despite his shorter legs, Bashful Thread tried to keep pace with Giddon's long stride.  It didn't take a mind reader to see Giddon's displeasure over walking.  Maybe he didn't even try to see this from Bashful's perspective, more likely though, he didn't care to.  He already has been caught due to a single indiscretion, some other pony closing shop and walking out would draw even more attention than it would have just been Bashful Thread.

It took uncomfortably long even with Giddon's pace to get out of Ponyville.  It wasn't until all eyes were clear, did he even consider changing form again, but even this brought about hesitation.  The ground around his hoofs erupted once again in green flame, and as it built up and consumed him, Bashful Thread closed his eyes, knowing he was to be no more.  Instead, stood something odd.

The figure infront of Giddon was almost as big as he was, standing eye to eye, a red and purple mane fluttered in the wind as the green flames burned out into nothingness, and large powerful wings of darkened hue spread out and stretched.  A cutie mark of a shield with a rose atop it seemed to grow from nowhere, and this new pony stretched out tall, feeling the form out and getting use to calling it his own.

"Better?"

The voice was different too.  It was far deeper, more confident, another creature entirely.  With a single beat of powerful wings, he rose into the air, soft fluttering kept the large pony airborne.  It look minimal effort to raise the large frame of this new form, a confidence in his stance and gaze that held conviction.

"If anyone asks, the name's Haze Guard."

Looking over Giddon, he waited for him to take flight.  There was a need to move on, the sooner he could get this done the sooner he could get back to the shop.  The sooner he could forget about Giddon.

With this, the arm was pulled all the way through to the realm of the living, where the others could see it. It shriveled before their eyes, but there was an odor coming from the blood, which looked more like tree sap with a small amount of pink food coloring in it. In fact, it smelled like tree sap, mixed with strawberries.

Sylar acted quickly, as he had planned, shooting his webbing onto a large rock sticking out of the ground. Now tethered to the ground he used the webbing to readjust his trajectory, slingshoting himself toward Vivid even faster than before. His two blades were still drawn and when he landed, his blades would pierce through Vivid wherever he could land them.

Ink didn't think his rescue attempt through at all. He caught the peanut butter colored Unicorn but his trajectory (which was already headed toward a wall) was directed downward through an open window. The two of them landed against a pile of sacks of flour, covering them both in white powder.

"What was that?" the unicorn said, as she got back onto her hooves.

Serenade pants, before making a face at the word foal,
"I'm not....actually, Derpy, your help would be much appreciated. As you can see, I have alot of trouble staying aloft." She adjusted the pendant so it's more secure around her neck, before extending her wings again.

These guys are so sweet. I'll have to make it up that other Unicorn, thought Serene

"That'd be great! I've been craving their new black forest cake virtually since the moment I arrived here. What with its chocolate delicacy, succulent cherries.. sweet.. whipped cream.."

Serene's tongue hung out as she got lost in her dessert-filled trail of thought. Once she realized she had stopped speaking and was looking rather foolish she quickly changed the subject.

"So hey, I don't think I got either of your names. I'm Serene Sanguine, but you can just call me Serena. All my friends do!"

Serena grinned, teeth showing and all, excited at both the prospect of a free dessert and two other ponies to learn about.

"Y-yeah, it probably c-couldn't hurt... Hehehe."

Now, far be it from Ziggy to be unsympathetic to others, but the look as Serenade had gotten out of sync, fallen down and more or less rolled into the pond had made her burst out laughing for a bit, and she still couldn't stop herself from giggling from the mental image of the soaked mare climbing back out of the pond.

She held back the best she could though and tried to focus on what they had to do here. Serenade had managed to keep herself going for a minute after the small... Hehe, *error* at the start before tiring out. Which was the good thing to focus on. Sure, it weren't an exercise good for the stamina and you could see that, but she had gotten mor stable there, which was the important part. Now, they could get to work teaching her a few more things. Her and Derpy alike.

After taking a few deep breaths to get the last of the giggling out of her system as best she could, Ziggy would begin to give a few more direct basic things to go with, using somewhat clinical terms for most of it and showing what she meant by it as things went along. Derpy would likely do more or less the same, but their methods would likely vary, and their points on how Serenade should start likely differ. But hey, long as there were results, right?

@@MDLineArt,

Giddon looked mostly unimpressed by the new form the changeling had taken. Considering he knew that the things could go from anywhere from a bottle cap to a full grown sea monster if they were advanced enough in the transformation arts, it started to loose the glamour after a while.

He Did give a slightly raised eyebrow and a somewhat interested look over the change in character, personality and such so far though. Even if he should perhaps have expected it, he had begun to think that the personality Bashful would take, no matter the form, would always end being one that worked with being a more or less bumbling cowards or something of yapping dog. An interesting change, and perhaps something he should keep an eye out for. If this changeling really did have more layers than he had thought so far, it might end up being him toppled off a cliff in the end if he didn't watch his back.

But enough of that. They had work to do, and the sooner it were over and he the sooner he had paid for the services, the sooner he could get out of this bothersome work relationship and get onwards with other dealings, as well as going through some... Tests, with the artefact in question they were out to get.

He took to the sky and soon his agile wings took him up in the same height as Bashful - or Haze as it were now - at which point he pointed in the direction of where they were headed.

"Half an hour in steady flight directly that way, and when we see a stone structure, we land some way from it and begin to walk closer."

They couldn't just fly in, as that would destroy the whole purpose of doing this with some finesse. He had been close to the place once, and the ground assault - whilst not something he couldn't avoid - were a nuisance to deal with, as well as warning the entire place of his presence. He couldn't have that this time if he wanted to get this done under the circumstances.

But he would cover that as they got there. For now, they had some flying to do.

"Good, that gives us a target for now."

So Ponyville it were after all then. Considering how close that town actually were when you thought about it, that gave them a good chance to get there in time before he had moved onwards to other places.

Granted, it also meant that the town she had settled in these days had gone under attack, and a good deal of innocent civilians were in the crossfire right now. And that he were in a good population town of nearly No fighters to push him back. Unseen by most, if not all. Rampant, and... Awh, who were she kidding? This was still bad no matter what way you looked on it, with the only good thing being that they could perhaps limit How bad it were going to end as they could get there relatively soon. Unless something delayed them that were, but hopefully that wouldn't be an issue.

"Y'know, you're taking this pretty calm. Been hunting monsters before?"

Zhu let out a small sigh as the scene unfolded beneath him. Though he planned and worked hard to make things come together correctly, he were still one who were not meant to handle things in an instant, such as the spiderling dealing with the change in direction better than he had expected.

His schemes spanned hours, months, even centuries at times, preparing for that very moment when potential roads would have been nudged enough to gather and play the parts that were the most logical for them. In a pinch, minutes could do as well if it came down to it, but he needed time to sift through what could be, and time to cast any spell beyond the initiative control of wind he possessed, and times like this he simply didn't have the time.

Things could still go on if it were. New pieces could be found and go down paths to fill in what had been lost, or in cases such as this, when he looked over Sylar, he saw that the short term goal of getting the Forgotten One destroyed would still be managed. In essence, it could still work well, but he were not fond of the idea of having to look for a piece as important as Vivid again for the longer term afterwards. That mare had been a... Tedious project, and he would have to have several bloodlines found, inspected and guided to cover the plans he had that included her if she managed to get killed.

*sigh* Yet, as he looked down on the scene where Vivid were focused on the crumbling remains arm of the ancient one she had managed to pull through whilst still being unaware of the blades that were headed towards her, he knew that whatever were to come there, it were now out of his paws.

The second after the thought passed, so did the inevitable. Sylar completed his curve, the blades sung on the wind, and before anypony could react to it, a spray of blood cut down the demonic mare that had stood in their midst.

It almost seemed to go in slow-motion as the blades that had pierced her were retracted and she fell to the ground, lifeless and limb whilst the hands above her fizzled out and died. It was a tragedy in it's own way, but every life would have to end eventually.

______________________________________________(Heh, just messing with ya, not done yet)

Then, something seemed to stir around the body. At first just a twitch, but then... Something started to seep out through the open muzzle. It might seem like blood for a moment, but as the stream increased, began to look more like smoke, and the dark substance began to swirl upwards before simply vanishing into thin air.

For those who could see to the spirit plane, or were there already however, it were not as simple. Whilst the purple and black smoke fizzled out of the world of the living, it instead appeared and gathered up in the plane where souls wandered, gathering and forming until a somewhat recognisable shape stood there.

Though it seemed like Vivid in the base idea, she currently didn't wear the clothes she regularly had to to keep herself warm, which made it easier to see the pulsating markings going here and there on her now darkened coat. Whatr were easy to see as well, would be the line of spikes going from her neck and down to the end of her tail, the thorns grown on her legs, the two large, leathery wings unfolding on her back and the two horns erupting from her forehead, twirling backwards into a sort of half spiral.

"Graaaargh!"

Opening her mouth and eyes to roar out towards the heavens only showed how much more this infused soul part of her were demon than her body showed. The teeth were fangs, long and sharp, and the eyes that could either be calm or sometimes look like fire, now were pitch black, with bright yellow slits for pupils. Pupils that looked around once she h´got the first wave of her frustrations out of her system.

"Just great. I have work to do, and then something shows up and kills me. Again! Does that impudent whelp not know I don't have the time for this? I should..."

Grrr. Okay, gather yourself Vivid... You're talking to yourself again. First assess the situation were you now are, Then try to get on with what you had started when you pulled the weird arm through the air, and then... Then, when all was said and done, she could think about finding somepony to possess and see what the damages she would have to repair this time were.

@,

Florence pointed to above her right eye at the last question.

"Because if I were like them, I would have the strange mark they have too."

Veil would likely have taken notice of the mark on the mare that had spoken to him before he were kidnapped. It were standing just above the right eye, and looked like a sort of mixture between a tattoo and something added with a branding iron. A marking that looked like a fang, scarlet in colour and looking like it were pulsating, would be hard to miss at least, but Veil might have had his focus somewhere else at the time.

"Every time they took somepony, if I did see them again they were acting the same way and with that strange mark there. I don't know what it's from, or why they put it there, but... Something tells me I wouldn't want to know either. It's evil, and I can't... No, I Won't be part of something like that."

Though the last words held some degree of being said by somepony with a spine, the worried looking gryphon speaking them in a somewhat nervous tone didn't really give that impression. Frankly, it'd sound more like something you'd see somepony tell themself whilst trying to cling to their sanity.

"And no, I'm not injured. I just... This place wears you down. It's what happened to the others until there was just me left. Well, me, and now you."

Huh, well that were a bit odd.

Crash hadn't been as far behind as you might think, though she were a little disappointed when she saw that the road had gone back to Ponyville. She had hoped that it'd take place someplace in the forest and there'd be some kind of adventure to it... But oh well, you couldn't always get what you wanted, and at least the house was well weird looking.

She had been about to go for it when she heard and saw this other pony going "That will serve." and seemingly head towards the building, at which point she stayed behind a bit and waited to see if that one would head inside before she did. The comment had sounded strange, and frankly she'd rather not be the one being followed by somepony saying that. she'd rather be the one doing the hunting here.

@@EQ_Theta,

"Sometimes it looks like they do that. Could also be something weirder happened while we were gone."

She looked around to make sure, but Senlin seemed to be right. Nopony here really seemed to care as much as before about the pair, which were somewhat strange, but there were likely a reason. Either the thing about something stranger having happened, or like Senlin asked/speculated, the twon were just over the strange part and had moved on.

Omen wasn't sure if that was the thing. This town treated strangers odd at times, with some being accepted fast, others needing time, and the reasoning between either hadn't formed a pattern she understood. Perhaps if she had been here longer it would have started to fall into line as something making sense, but her time here were short, and most of it had been waiting to see if she could come in contact with master. How this town worked were somewhat alien to her.

"Good anyway. Less strange looks makes it easier to get around."

Flying along side Giddon, it had been some time since he felt the wind under wings.  The form felt appropriate, though he was starting to get cross with his 'partner in crime'.

"Fought with Castle Guard... Infiltration of said Castle... Dropped a pony off a cliff... Stole his mare...  Served several years in 'the core'... Butted heads with the meanest this side of Equestria...." He continued to murmur these little statements for quite some time.  He felt adrenaline course in his veins, and after a moment, he looked over Giddon.

"So what exactly ARE you?"

"I mean, wings, check, beak, weird, talons, ok....  Not exactly a local."

"I'd like to know who I am dealing with before this gets out of hand."  There was a professionalism in Bashful Thread's voice, now in the guise of Haze Guard.  Really, it was him working the angles, he needed to know if Giddon was going to sell him out at the end of this, or worse, try to get rid of him as some kind of witness to this.

Giddon clearly had some curiosity to him, otherwise he wouldn't have gone to the basement if he knew Bashful would be right back, and in doing so seeing Bashful's 'true' form, whatever that term means now, as Scissor Biter.  He was callus, that may be the way to keep people emotionally at bay, a defense mechanism against people getting too close.  What was he trying to keep ponies away from?  He clearly had delusions on his own appearance, bullying then saying he wasn't.  Either that, or he was remarkably unaware of his own presence.  There was no empathy though, maybe he felt being closed off was a good way to stay safe.

"Must be pretty rough."

Cloud-mover unicorn? Pff, what a hack.

Even If her sales-pitch hadn't been as see-through as glass, taking in the mare's hesitation and head-swirling as signs that she were scripting it on the spot did her in a good chunk. As well as the fact that cloud business were pegasi business, not unicorn. It wasn't their kind of work.

Getting in nearer to call her out, Crash hadn't taken notice of the scissor yet. From where she walked were an odd angle that made it hard to be sure, but she should be close enough to get a proper view soon, sneaking silently up on whoever this mare were and preparing herself for some kind of shenanigans to be going on. Likely some kind of school prank. Those things could really get out of hoof if you didn't step your hoof down in time.
