Here's a holiday surprise (that was already revealed on the IDW forums a week or two ago)! This issue will be available in December.

oh please no. I know I am going to be called out for being a negative Nancy, but please nothing cliche like this. Especially in an already fairly cliche setting (teen aged girls in highschool). Please no story lines dealing with social drama in a highschool. Every live action sitcom ever has already done this.

I'd like to get this when it does get released because then ill have something to do. Besides. I don't whine or complain. But i agree that the Eqg movie could have been a whole lot better. But can't change anything about it. We get what we get and we don't throw a fit.

After a tour in Afghanistan, I have the right to complain about anything. You may consider it whining, I consider it voicing my opinion as a veteran of  war. Besides, if we just accepted everything, we wouldn't have any quality now would we? Because quality means more money, and if you accept anything you end up with the cheapest product, which is never quality.

 

And besides, that logic opens up entire crates worth of cans of worms.

I was pleasantly surprised with the EQG comic the first time around, so I think it has the possibility of being good.

 

But I don't know about this whole holiday special thing. I'm worried that it's going to be a generic "holidays are special times to show how much you care!" Cliche fest. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Well, I was far from disappointed with the EG Annual comic, so I kinda have good expectations with this one. But the Xmas setting gives a bit of a bad vibe

I agree you have the right to voice your opinion anyone does. If you don't how will the people who make know that people who are buying it are not enjoying it. Well, in the grand scheme of the universe, might=right. And thus combat training and experience means I have more might, thus a bigger right to voice my opinion. But yes, every one has the right to voice it anyway.

This is my worry, that it will follow the ABC family formulaic holiday special, about how "christmas only comes once a year, and it is the most special time to be with your loved ones and friends and its all about showing good will!" and other cliche trite tat they stick onto the largely commercialized holiday. I just hope it doesn't follow the same well worn path that every christmas special ever has.

While I have nothing but respect and admiration for the people of the military, who sacrifice so much for our safety, and for the protection of others, it isn't a token to use to complain about a film about pony schoolgirl girls

 

About the film, it has some potential, both to be great and to be terrible.

We'll just have to trust them to make it good!

I agree with what many of you say about the social drama stuff. I cringed at the "Mean rumors" part. When will they learn that Mean Girls and MLP do not mix. I would much rather see something like Sonata Dusk making Christmas tacos with everyone

Having the read comic, this morning,  it was quite good.  There were some issues such as the girls  easily turning on Sunset  after rumors are spread out. And the reveal, of who the actual culprit  is,  makes sense but it is a disappointing, if you are a fan. And  also,   there is a nice back and forth between  Sunset writing letters to Twilight  and Twilight actually responded.

Much like the Pets comic, it was pretty good up until the last bit

 

 

 

- When it turned out to be the CMC, turning the entire story into a rehash of Gabby Gums

- There are no repercussions and the humane 5 instantly forgave her. The entire time I was hoping someone was all "Oh you're not getting off the hook that easy" and at the end of the comic they got big lumps of coal for Christmas

- There's barely any Christmas in it other than skin

 

I know it may not sound like much, but for me those are two huge negatives the really sour the comic for me

 

On a positive note, I loved seeing Pony Twilight's role in this, and there were some smaller things I liked about it, like the scene with Fluttershy and RD playing video games(  "You can play as a Fuzzy Bunny. With a Monster Truck." "I will destroy all of your enemies." Also dat reference to Limit Breaks"

Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. This could really be one of my favorite IDW pony comics general.

 

I especially liked how the characters really felt human, and that it all didn't feel tacked on. My heart really broke for Sunset...

 

Overall, I was really satisfied by it, so...9/10.

For the most part I was enjoying this comic and thought it was rather quite good. But as it got on I felt, much like others, that it was treading all too familiar ground (ie. Gabby Gums). I was willing to go with it though, as the it was being reasonably done so it was forgiveable...until it had the reveal of the CMC as the culprits. Making it exactly like Gabby Gums. Any sense of an original idea was drained from the story and I have to say I'm overly disappointed with the end result. You'd have to think that if the editor (and the writer themselves) is familiar with the show they'd have made a concentrated effort not to just re-hash a story from an episode.

 

I'd like to see more EG comics though. I think this comic did show that there's room for a bit more exploration of that world, plus,it would be a way of giving us more Sunset Shimmer which is always a good thing.

I didn't like it! This is probably the only thing related to Equestria Girls, aside from the terrifying promotional artwork, that I really dislike. That ending REALLY did not sit well with me.

If you're referring to the CMC getting off without any form of punishment, I agree. They ruined Sunset's life and if anyone doesn't need more stuff like that it's her.

6 months of detention is "getting off without any form of punishment"? Okay...

 

However, I'm more surprised that it was heavily implied that AJ actually posted the word "damn," not to mention one background student blatantly posting the word "sucks."
