I went to their panel at BronyCAN!!!

 

The one Fan Animation that looked promising and it got cancelled!! It was even going to be the length of a full movie, it looked so cool!!

 

Well, at least we're getting it as an audio drama. It'll be like 2/3rds of Patrick Troughton's tenure as the Second Doctor.

From what I had heard, after the split their lead animators left for LSOH. I wish I had taken screen caps, but I had a nice conversation with him over on /mlp/. According to him, after seeing this project end, he planes to start getting the ball rolling on that animation, with help from creativity kitchen.

 

But as always, I'm always somewhat saddened at the loss of a potential fan animation, no matter how horrible. And with JOTS set to be one of the first full length fan pony movies, it was certainly something to wait for. I can only hope that CK picks up some of their talent that got cut after the end of this, and hopefully they can continue on other animated projects.

im a friend of the director of this, so im sorry to see hes leaving it, but seeing the skype post screen shots on horse news, im glad to see that like this decision isnt like destroying him so, im a little interested in seeing what he will do next

In all honesty, I kind of saw this coming. Well actually, I expected it to get a cease and disist due to a supposed leaked cease and disist order on 4chan. Good it can still thrive as an audio drama.

There is a reason professionals make animated films. Its hard, time consuming, and requires talents not everyone has. Without the money and or the discipline it takes to keep a team together its not surprising that things went the way it did. I am still checking out the audio drama though.

That was a huge blow to the fandom and while I am disappointed that the JOTS is no longer going to be a film, I'm actually glad that it'll still live on as an audio drama as an alternative. At least that's a good thing to show that JOTS is still going on.

Seriously? Pity. It was shaping up to be really good. Oh well. I'm sure that won't stop the fan community from doing what they do, and maybe one day the show will get an official movie that isn't Equestria Girls. At least an audio drama will be better than nothing, I suppose.
