Odyssey 5,716 August 27, 2014 Share August 27, 2014 Originally, I wasn't going to watch this movie after how sub-par Equestria Girls was, but after catching up on the shorts and sneak peeks, I think I'll give Rainbow Rocks another chance. One thing I realised while watching the shorts was the animation looks better than Equestria Girls. Not as good as the main show, but it's nice to see more variety in the animation, especially the facial expressions. I'm still unhappy about how Equestria Girls ignores what MLP: FiM tried to be. I know that not all of the characters in Equestria Girls are the ideal image of a "real woman", but a vast majority of them are. But what can you do? I don't work for Hasbro. I hope that Rainbow Rocks is a good movie. If it is, I might have to keep my eye out for more sequels. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I love Equestria Girls, but I'd prefer seeing the MLP show and Equestria Girls stay unconnected for the most part. Well your right i guess but in a way its connected But what i think it is that when twighlight goes throught the portal that is going to be an episode and when she reaches canterlot high that turns into a movie and then.... Maybe she'll backstab the other two for being evil or something, or end up being the one to mastermind the whole game and be the *true* villain of Rainbow Rocks and make an insanely unexpected plot twist Please don't screw this one up, Rainbow Rocks. Or as my daughter pointed out, they could have dropped the entire moon cycle concept entirely since the Equestria Lunar 'orbit' is a little different than ours since ... you know ... a Pony controls it. EquestriaGuy 1,074 August 31, 2014 Share August 31, 2014 (edited) While I liked EQG and think EQG2 will probably be even better, I'm struck by some things I find to be odd. In the first movie we have the song lyric, "but you look a little deeper, and you will see that I'm just like you, and you're just like me". Isn't that the exact opposite of what the message should be? I thought the message was supposed to be that they're all different, and regardless of those differences they can still find camaraderie? There's no point in pretending that we're in any way the same, even on the deepest level, so I don't really understand the point of that line. Then in the EQG2 preview we have a song about how the mane 6 were somehow divided in the past because of their differences, but now have come together. While this might be true on a broader sense if the song is truly about all students at CHS, it certainly isn't true about the mane 6 themselves. They got along just fine until Sunset briefly divided them. It seems like they've never had an issue with getting along, despite any personality differences, and any division was based on manufactured conflict. Lastly, I'm also not sure, outside an out of universe explanation which is the writer's intentions to integrate Sunset into this new universe, why Sunset didn't return to Equestria. I hope she gets to at least visit at some point in EQG2. A reunion between Sunset and Celestia would be by far my favorite scene. I feel like I've already seen half the movie now! :/ I'm going with the theory that Adagio Dazzle is Chrysalis and the other two are changelings. It just makes so much sense to me! They have the necklaces because magic doesn't work the same way in the human world than in Equestria. There is a problem with that theory though. Changelings feed off love, but the Dazzlings seem to feed off hate and distrust. However, in one of the sneak peaks, Adagio says she wants the people at the school to "adore" them. Maybe it's they're plan to become popular and be adored by other students? Maybe that's how they're feeding off love? I don't know. What do you guys think? Also, in the music video "Battle of the Bands", Adagio's eyes glow green, sort of like how Chrysalis' eyes glowed when in Cadence's form in "This Day Aria". Coincidence?
