What's your opinion on the Brony documentaries?

There have been two documentaries about Bronies that have been released "Bronies: The Extremley Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony" released in 2012 and "A Brony Tale" released earlier this year. I've seen both documentaries. Both documentaries were good but, I enjoyed "A Brony Tale" more.

The first one was eh. A Brony Tale, which I saw at the World Premiere Screening of it back in April, I found it awesome. It wasn't because Ashleigh Ball with famous Bronies like DustyKatt. SaberSpark, and SilvaHound was there, I really loved it.

The first one I saw half of before I just had to put it down because, well, to be honest I really didn't want these people to be bronies. They seemed like the most stereotypical recluses to me, and I was embaressed myslef when the guy backed up and was so distracted by the Luna on his back windshield he crashed. I mean, thats not exactly putting bronies in a good light. And my favorite part of the movie was the "conservative" dad. I love "Conservative" Dad. That's really the only thing I took away from that movie.

I haven't seen either.  I plant to watch A Brony Tale.  That one sounds like it might be ok.  I won't bother with the first.  Sounds like it wasn't good.  It sounds like it just stereotypes us in negative way.  A proper brony documentary should focus on the fact that MLP attracts all kinds of people.  It should say something like, "Do you want to know who bronies are?  Look around you.  They are teachers, they are businessmen, they are lawyers, they are doctors, they are military officers, they are carpenters, they are physicits, they are artists, they are parents, they are students.  They are everywhere, and they are everyone."

This has the potential to scare non-bronies

Good.  Maybe they deserve to be scared.  Naw, I kid.  Yeah, maybe that wouldn't be the best wording, but you know what I mean.  The idea is not to stereotype us as one kind of person.

I saw the first. I think some of the stories were very touching, like the sick child, who got a huge check for treatment. Indeed, it was really stereotypical, though. The people followed were mostly, how should I say, "social standouts"? You would expect them to be the type to like unusual things. I have not seen A Brony Tale, but I plan to.

I did not really find the original brony documentary interesting, as it was really just showcasing the typified brony. The second one was a little bit better, with its focus on the fandom at large and not just bronycon+ some tidbits. But overall, I did not really find either of them that interesting as they are documentaries that just showcase fans of a single cartoon.
