I was thinking that I was surprised, yet really not surprised, because I always took little peeks at it whenever I was out somewhere and it was on, thought that it was kind of obvious I would become a Brony considering I liked other cartoons, was just surprised by how much I actually liked this.

As i stated when i first joined, i was introduced to it through a friend of mine. I was just so darn bored and asked him if he knew anything to break the boredom, that's when he suggested MLP FIM to me. Of course like everypony else, i was hesitant to do so and called it stupid and childish. My friend says:

 

"Come on, man, just watch 2 minutes and if you don't like it, i'll never mention it again."

 

So i decided to humor him and watch it, before i knew it, we were both laughing at the ponies antics and derpy being a klutz. I never had so much fun in my life! We watched it for about 15 episodes before had to call it a night. Now as you can see I'm a brony too and don't care who knows it, any negativity is turned to positive by me. Haters are no more than a small problem to me, i just agree with them to get them annoyed and they stop right then and there.

Before I became a brony, I saw MLP stuff literally everywhere. It was pretty annoying. I just saw the show as some stupid little kids show. My friend one day told me that the show isn't that bad, so I watched it. When the theme song played, I was like "Oh, man.. This is weird.." As I watched more episodes, I felt less weirded out and more welcomed. I don't know. The show just felt right to watch. I immediately knew that I was a brony. I went on an MLP marathon for a few weeks and watched all of season 3. Now, I've seen seasons 1-4, 2 movies, and I'm looking forward to season 5 and the new non-EQG movie. It's amazing how I was against bronies so much before I actually watched the show.

All the flame wars, all the pointless debates, insults, as well as the morally questionable material, left me with the impression that this community was full of emotionally stunted and socially disabled people.

 

Three weeks ago, I was really bored and was looking for a TV show to watch when, out of sheer random, I thought: "What if I watched My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic?". At first I didn't take myself seriously at all, I just wanted to see how the show was like. The first two episodes left me wanting more, so I kept going... until I started to really like the characters. They're unique, appealing, and the whole thing is just so reassuring, comfortable to watch. It just brings me peace to watch this. That's the only way I can put it.

 

So yeah... I'm at the beginning of season 4 now, and I love it so far.

 

So... is this community made of emotionally stunted and socially disabled people? I don't know but count me in. Plus, the "morally questionable material" clearly is a minority among the community, plus come on, you can find this kind of stuff for basically anything on the Internet, so that shouldn't be representative of this specific community.

 

All I see here is a bunch of nice people enjoying an awesome show. What's wrong about it?

I watched the first episode with my sister.. just as a joke. When it finished I patiently waited for her to leave so I could watch another episode.. I watched the entire first season that day.. I know this probably sounds terrible, but you do get used to it. The brony community is a weird place and of course that stuff will happen (as there is A LOT of My Little Pony R34). You just have to either ignore it or just accept it as a side product of teenage guys in a fandom.

i went through a denial phase in the first few days. I thought that there is no way that i could seriously consider to be part of this "cult." I hardly tried to forget about the series, but the more i tried, the more i craved for ponies.

 

After 4 or 5 days, i accepted my fate.
