movies/tv Worst and best movie/series ending?

I did a quick scan and didn't notice any topics on this yet.. which surprises me a little. The title is pretty straight forward. What was the worst ending to a movie or series? Or the best. I find 'Dexter' to have a pretty bad ending.. it left me sad and disappointed..

If you are going to spoil something in the movie/series.. PLEASE use a spoiler so someone doesn't accidentally read it.

Worst: DEXTER, I wasn't angry or anything, it was just kinda...'ok that happened, what else is on'.

Best: I really don't know of any, I guess Guardians of the Galaxy had a nice little ending? I don't know of anything else. Most endings seem to be 'meh'.

Best:

Manhattan Season 1

Breaking Bad Season 5

Worst:

The Walking Dead Midseason 4

The one with the tank. >_>

EDIT: Actually, I'd like to elaborate on this choice because it's the only fucking time in history that a single episode of a TV series enraged me enough to make me quit the entire show. The Midseason finale for season 4 was the culmination of the structural flaws that the series had dragged around since day 1, and the INSULTING lack of plot in season 4 in general.

Change in TWD is like a carrot to a horse. The show dangles it in front of your face, and occasionally lets you lick it to let you know it exists, but it never just fucking gives it to you. The show maintains this illusion by strategically killing off characters whenever it's dramatically convenient, as opposed to when it would make any sort of rational sense. It turns the supposed "reulistik zombe apoklips" into little more than a Survivor show where the less popular characters invariably die early, and the more popular ones are kept on the show even if they have absolutely nothing to do in the story. It's a blatant fanservice circlejerk.

And NOWHERE was this more haphazard and insulting than in the Midseason 4 finale. The Governor holds Herschel and Mishonne at sword point, decapitates Herschel in cold blood, and then BY DIVINE PROVIDENCE Mishonne escapes because the Governor goes off to pick his nose. He then comes within a hair's length of killing a broken, pathetic Rick Grimes in the same battle, but BY DIVINE PROVIDENCE, Mishonne saves him at the very last second. AND THEN Daryl Dixon is confronted with consecutive armies of walkers, enemy gunmen, and A FUCKING TANK... AND HE STILL WALKS OUT UNSCATHED!

They pulled EVERY lazy contrivance they possibly could just to avoid giving the audience a meaningful plot development. They went to EVERY extreme to keep the show stuck in a god-awful status quo. They went above and beyond to preserve their laziness, and keep themselves from having to use their brains. Just the idea that it is EVER okay to insult the intelligence of your fans like that makes me feel offended. Believe it or not, I actually liked seasons 2&3, but not nearly enough to forgive them for pulling a stunt like this. The writing team showed their true colors with this episode. They showed just how little they care about their show and their fans.

There are much better shows out there than Walking Dead, and I have no reason to waste my time on a show that thinks I'm some kind of witless ape that will explode if I'm not shamelessly pandered to. Shame on AMC for allowing this kind of trash on the same frequency that broadcasts Breaking Bad and Mad Men.

How about incomplete series? Samurai Jack's series was never finished due to a multitude of reasons, such as the voice actor of the main antagonist passing away, and then GT (his initials) wanted a raise or wasn't working under his terms, so he left (correct me otherwise ).

We shall never know what happens to Jack :1.

Oh my gosh! Samurai Jack was one of my favorite shows!!! I was completely crushed when it just got cancelled. :(  One of the best shows on Cartoon Network if you ask me. :)

As for worst ending ever: The Last Airbender movie ending...actually just the entire movie was bad...actually, lets just pretend there was no movie...

Worst: Definitely Oreimo by far. I actually really liked everything in that anime except the last three episodes. They just destroyed the entire thing for me.

Best: The Last Airbender TV show. I didn't really like anything in particular about it, I just found it really satisfying.

I wouldn't say worst, but, imo at least, the most disappointing one was DBZ's ending. I'm still on the boat that the series should have ended after Cell

Unbreakable. That movie had such an excellent build up, had such excellent characters, everything was awesome. It seemed like it was about to go into full perfection territory, but then the movie ends. And the twist was the most obvious thing in the world! If they had extended the movie after that point, it could have been exceptional. But as it stands, what a disappointing climax.

Worst: Criminal Minds - Season 2.

Frank "Villain Sue" Breitkopf manages to:

1. Cheaply nullify the previous season finale by abruptly killing that former hostage For The Evulz.

2. Choose to die in quite a Karma-Houdini-like manner.

3. Posthumously ruin Jason Gideon's -- the Big Good, no less -- life and drive him to quit the BAU forever.

Round the Twist, because it only lasted for 2 seasons i think... maybe just one...

Firefly, mainly because it was awsome, but then they ended it... with a movie...

The unasked questions are what bother me, not the answers. The answers give me clarity. Silence is in its self an answer, so ask! To not ask is to deny the existence of said question, and leaves you with just "what if".

Worst movie ending has got to be The Mist. Not that it was a bad ending, but youd have to watch it yourself to see. No spoilers from me.

In line with Doug Walker, I'll definitely call the ending of Ratatouille one of the most satisfying endings in film. It had one of the most eloquent expressions of one of the highest of modern values with a dose of reality.

Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.

I also like that when Anton Ego was made to eat his words, he didn't storm out like Zesty Gourmand, or pitch a fit, or give up. He was intimidating and harsh but was never the bad guy. The most cartoonish thing about him was his character design. He put his reputation on the line in the name of honesty. He knows the weight his opinion holds, thus he stands up for what's right rather than capitulating to conventional wisdom. In that few minutes, Ego shows just as much passion, character strength, and virtue as the film's leads.

Captain America: Civil War was a pretty great film, but, after an awesome final fight, the movie ended on an anti-climax.

They just sent letters to each other to say 'sorry'. It might have been okay, had it not seemed slightly rushed in a way.

I think one of my favorite movie endings has to be that of How To Train Your Dragon: a sort of predictable way to bring the movie to a stop, but it worked well and was nice.
