Why did you choose your OC's name?

Considering my name's William, I'm a knowledgeable person, and my OC's name is close to my screen name Wii Guy, I chose "Will Guide" as in "I will be your guide to the world of Disney."

A Dragon as big as his love for Disney and has his head in the clouds literally and figuratively

Usually when I sit down to draw an OC, I just go with the flow and see what they turn into out of my spontaneous design choices. Most if not all the time the name comes last after I get the full scope and picture fleshed out ^^

& you can't go wrong with alliteration! :muffins:

Steele Heart has a few meanings. I've always been fond of the name Steele. It reflects an unmovable will. Conversely, this alicorn descends into a villain, taking on the term steel to be a symbol of tyranny and adapting a cold outlook on life. He has a heart of gold but he won't let anyone see it.

Trickster because that is what he is, liar and a thief who wasn't born a pony.
Hodgepodge because he is a potter, and hodgepodge can be defined as just a mixture of things.
Forge Flame because he works with metal and I just wanted the word Forge in his name pfft.

Those three are the only ones that matter to me really so, yeah there you go XD
Lucky Lass I just thought sounded cute and went with the idea of a Gypsy Vanner pony.

Timey Marey: I named her after her cutie mark and after her gender. In-universe explanation: Visionary? Time travellers? TARDIS? DeLorean? Nope. Magic soon explained why she has that name.

Pierce Goldeneye: Tried to find some name that sounds like James Bond. Then Pierce Brosnan and GoldenEye came up. Then I mashed them up. This is the result. In-universe explanation: Named after his "golden eyes".

In regards to Pathfinder and Sojourner, my inspiration came from the Pathfinder mission to Mars many years back. As such, I used the names Pathfinder and Sojourner (the rover) as a means of tribute to the spirit of adventure and exploration.

Corsair is largely inspired by the WW2 plane of the same name, while Stargazer is a word I like and I wanted to apply it to a character.

Equinox Crescent,  He's always been hanging in the shadows when ever there's a crescent moon shining at him unlike his brighter colored twin.

Spark Lights, a foal that looks similar to Equinox but with brighter colors and the eyes, is very fanatical about lightning and doesn't need a spell to step on lightning clouds.

My ponysona's name is Winter Nocturne. It may not be the most MLP-ish name - but that's probably because Hasbro, much like the rest of the world, go with the popular idea that Winter is dark and depressing (which is a rare theme for a MLP name), but it is a happy time for me!

So, regardless of that, I think it's a perfect name. The choices for her coloring were never made intentionally so, but they quite perfectly match the colors of a winter night (that is if there is snow... Not too common where I live. T.T). Nocturne is a genre of musical composition that is said to invoke the night. So me being into music and loving winter, that's the perfect name!

Mine is called Scarface One, his Symbol, and his name, comes from Ace Combat 2. The symbol is a phoenix, and the name is his callsign. I have created another character called Hornet, who's symbol is the number 41, and is blue and red, he is based on the Hornet from Daytona. My colour scheme is based on the Su-35 from Ace Combat 2. It's an amazing aircraft.

I have an Alicorn OC named Firemane. His name was actually the last part I came up with. As the guardian of the Stars, I wanted to give him a more fiery color scheme with warm colors, as opposed to the softer color schemes of the other Alicorns. His mane is red, orange and yellow, the traditional colors for fire; so Firemane seemed to be a logical choice. Of course, that was when I was new to the fandom back at the end of season 2 and didn't make the connection of more metaphorical or mythological naming for Alicorns. By the time I did, I couldn't come up with one that sounded right. Also, he had been Firemane for a while at that point and changing his name felt like completely changing the character, so I decided to keep it.

Leif Blazer

Leif (an alternative to leaf. I've also been playing TLoZ phantom hourglass, and the spirit of power is called Leif)

Blazer (represents the way how he can snap in a split second from being calm and level-headed to ragemode)

Simple but it works

I also like the sound of it :P

A user here came up with the name for me. "Comet Streak" really matched my OC's.. Appearance, hence I kept it.

I happen to like some of Poe's poems and "The Raven" has been one

of my favs so I did Nevermore but a lot of people have ponies named

"Nevermore"  so I added in a Midnight and it sounds good when you say

it out load:  Nevermore Midnight.

He's a unicorn with magical talents in the realm of illusion, specifically by the manipulation of light. I'd go into more detail on that but it's kind of beyond the scope of this thread. He and tends to blend in with a crowd ("background pony") and has a subdued personality, much like myself. He also has a somewhat dark coat. "Silhouette" seemed like an appropriate name for a pony with his coloration, abilities, and temperament.

  • 2 months later...

I gave Phantasmapony the name for my main OC because he's just a poniefied form of the Human looking form as Phantasmatron.

Zack was just a name I fought of when I was 12, (Back when I wasn't a brony) when I saw a cool looking OC I copied it and decided to call him Zack, The only difference was there was a cutiemark.

Paku has the same story, The only difference was I had to give the colours.

My OC is called Mane Quest because I love gaming and my OC represents that. the OC I am talking about is not the one in my profile picture.
