Is it unusual to like all of the Mane Six characters?

So from time to time on this fandom I've seen one person or another say

"rainbow is worst pony because xyz"

"Pinkie is worst pony cause reasons"

"Twilights a mary sue" 

"Flutters is a *insert slew of curse words here*"

 

The list goes on and I'm left going "am I the only one who likes all these characters? Why do I have to arbitrarily hate one of them?"

 

It frustrating to see characters I like and admire be boiled down to their worst possible interpretations and paraded around like its bonafide fact.  I'm not calling anyone out here, I'm not "putting anyone on blast" I am voicing my opinion and thoughts on this whole idea that you have to pick your favorite and you have to openly hate on others. 

 

Take Twilight, I didn't really understand her all that well at first. She was confusing for me and not as interesting a character as the others for me at the time. As I looked though and really thought about her I saw her in a new light. She cares about her friends, but she can get caught up in the rules and what she has learned and it can cloud her judgement. In fact similar things can be said of all the ponies;

Pinkie can get so rapped up in trying to be fun and making people smile that she misses the fact that she hurt someones feelings,

Dash can get so caught up in the moment that she can have a hard time staying true to herself and her friends even though she always makes the right choice in the end,

Applejack can get so stubborn that it can make her be ashamed to even look her friends in the eye.

Rarity can get so rapped up in her quest for being a famous business mare and fashionista that it can affect her ability to be the kind generous pony she is

Flutters has a hard time finding a balance of being kind and standing up for herself, which has led to some bad situations 

 

I can relate to all of this and more! They feel more real and dynamic than characters from adult television because there are these elements in their characters that make them flawed and have their decisions not be so cut and dry. They really would be mary sues if they never did anything wrong or made mistakes

 

You know which ponies never did anything wrong or had any conflict? These things.

 

So I ask: Am I really the only one who can appreciate all of the mane six for their good sides and their bad sides without vilifying and misrepresenting them? Am I the only one who thinks the idea of attributing "worst pony" to any of the mane six as something both appalling and aggravating? 

 

If I'm not please let me know. Also please refrain from going on worst pony tangents here, I'm tired enough as it is with the entire concept much less hearing about it on my own topics.

I don't dislike any of them either. Flaws make a character just as much as strengths do. If none of them made any mistakes then they'd never learn anything, because they wouldn't have to.

 

 I'm fine with someone disliking a character, but it does bother me when they try to paint them as being some awful, horrible pony based off just the mistakes they make, or the flaws they have, while ignoring any good they've done.

Truly. I don't know what it is about it. I guess when someone else tries to say that their favorite pony is better than yours, is where it really starts to get into those debate. But as characters, I like them all.

It sounds odd, but I don't have a least favorite. I like all of the mane six for different reasons. I do have a favorite, but I won't name her due to the request of the original poster.

Been seeing topics like this one quite a bit. Regardless, no, you aren't. In fact, I'm always stunned whenever I hear someone say "I hate such and such" because I honestly love all of the characters. Sure, there are some I like more than others, but I don't hate any of them.

This is not the first time I had to state this, and I doubt it'll be the last.

Yes though, I like all of the Mane Six. My least favorite is Rainbow Dash, but the emphasis is least favorite. That still puts her leagues above most fictional characters.

 

Yes, I love all of the Mane Six. They are some of my favorite characters from any movie, show, comic book, or video game. There is just a supreme but relaxing joy to their easy banter and how they play off one another whenever I watch them. It's part of why I'm so giddy at the prospect of every new season, I get to see them just be themselves for a bit before the action hits. And even then, I get to see them be the heroes I love.

 

I could never bring myself to even dislike any of them. I love them and this show, that unconditionally . . . and I'm proud of that.

I never understood it myself. I think there's something great about each of the mane six and love them to death. I get some characters aren't for everyone, but some people really take things too far either wishing death on the characters, attacking fans of the characters, or trying to start a witch hunt whenever they make a mistake

You are not. I love all of them, and I'd say my like of them is rising all the time.

 

Take Pinkie. I use to find her a mildly off-putting character due to her insufferable cheerfulness( though I still liked her.).However as I've gotten further in the show, now I understand she is only trying to make everyone happy, and like her more because of it.

 

I guess what I'm saying is that, while they may have flaws, those flaws are reasons to hate them per se. In fact they can be reasons to love them ( who likes a perfect character? )

Nope, you're not. Even if there are some members of the Mane 6 I prefer, all of them have something special to offer. That's what I love the most about the Mane 6 - you got six characters with six diverse personalities, so that it's easier for your audience to understand and relate to your characters.

 

It's rather sad to see people attack some characters based on their flaws, even though flaws are what make a character more human. As the OP said, if the Mane 6 were just like the main characters of G3, then we wouldn't like MLP:FiM all that much in the first place.

Mere appreciation, heh.  I wubs them all.  (some more than others.  [i hope that the writers write a non-shy Fluttershy, a non-protective, non-co-Rarity AJ, and keep up the good work with Rainbow Dash to improve those like they did Rarity and here-to-fore RD] to even them out with my faves, but still love'em)  But if somebody did a good piece with the death of ANY of the Mane 6 I'd cry liquid pride A LOT.

I have a very clear scale of which Mane Six I like more than others, but I don't have anything against any of them. Even Rarity and Fluttershy who are at the end of my list; I simply don't find them as interesting as some of the others near the top of my list. It's not as if I hate them for one reason or another.

 

People like to throw opinions, and start drama. So bashing X character because they don't like them is a pastime for a lot of people, sadly.

I love all of them.  I don't have a problem with people not liking one or more of them, but what really annoys me is when people rage and hate on one of them with a burning passion like the character is the worst thing ever created.  Sometimes I wonder why some folks are even here when they seem to hate everything about the show.  I mean, you're entitled to hate whatever characters you want, but so often people are like, "Oh yeah, I love MLP!  Brony for life!  Oh, but season 2 was a piece of crap and season 3 was even worse and season 4 was sh*tload of f*ck, and Rainbow is scum and Pinkie's garbage, and AJ has been flanderized to hell and Rarity is an asshole and Fluttershy's an idiot and Twilight can eat dirt and die, and Celestia and Luna should be executed and everyone at Hasbro should be fired, but OH YEAH, I LOVE FIM!"  It's like, My Little Pony: Friendship is Butthurt, that's what it is.

I love the main cast. They are a great ensemble and each individual works well together as a team. They all have different personalities and it's neat to see how they respond to different situations. Sure, I like some better than others, but I do like them all, especially together.

No. All of the characters were made with the intention of them being likable. I get having preferences but I don't understand how anyone can dislike any of the mane characters.

Nah, not at all, I love all of them too! There's nothing about any of them I don't like. ^^ I used to have favorites though. That changed when I realized that I'm just attached to all of them to even have a second favorite.
