gaming Whats your favorite R.P.G, any format.

If MAss Effect counts, then I will say that it is easily my favourite RPG series, especially mass Effect 2. Everything is just... perfect. The story, the gameplay, the setting, the characters, everything is tailored to be amazing.

Really? Mass Effect 2 was my least favourite of the trilogy. Personally, I prefer the 1st one. Sure it suffered from some budget limitations but it had heart...something EA sucked out of the series.

Anyway, my favourite RPG of any format would be a tabletop RPG (you did say any format) I'm working on GMing at the moment. It's a humorous sci-fi following the misadventures of a neigh-useless crew...its Red Dwarf meets Space Dandy.

I've never played tabletop. Never had anyone to play with and I can't typically take roleplaying seriously. Granted half the people who try to roleplay with me against my will do so in the most ridiculous ways possible.

You should find People who have played before, and care about the game, and give it a try its really fun.

The trick is to not take it seriously. Most of the best RP moments have been when the entire group are pretty pissed and the GM throws the rulebook away and starts winging it...or when a wandering monster table insists on spawning a Kraken in a 6' x 6' room, crushing the entire party.

There are so many good ones out there.  The best are probably in the:

Baldur's Gate Series

Ultima Series

Fallout Series

and also Final Fantasy 6 (no I do not think the rest of FF, although many others are good, measure up).

I love Baldurs Gate, and the Ultima series they are both awesome, and Fallout well I have spoke alot about that game, it rules, thanks.

I'm a fan of of Fallout, Final Fantasy (7 and the spinoffs in particular), Skyrim, Paper Mario (Thousand Year Door in particular), Animal Crossing (If it counts), Pokemon and Fire Emblem (Particularly 7, 8 and 13). I do like a few more rpgs but I forgot their names, so these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

FF 7 is about one of my favorite of the series, and Skyrim rocks I like Fire Emblem, your picks were good as well thanks.

I agree with SparkWolf in that Adventure Quest Worlds is my favorite RPG. :) It wouldn't be as fun if I couldn't play it with him though :P

Yeah I have never

Yeah I have never given that one a whirl, I must try it out, thanks.

I'd like to say FFX and Persona 3, FFX because of it's Turn based combat style and storyline and Persona 3 because bonds and friendship/ the schooltower system and the aim to go higher. If I were to combine those 2 games... *drool*

I like turn base games too, and I agree it would make me drool...

You play D&D? I have played D&D for quite a while now ( 12 years now ) ever since I was 8.

Anyway, my favorite R.P.G? Well, I really liked KOTOR when it came out, The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind was also really fun (my favourite from TES series) and how could I forget Fallout 3 New Vegas.

Yes I play 2nd ed. been playing since 1991 which is a long time ago, I am also a DM I love AD&D, also KOTOR is awesome I can't believe I forgot to add that one.

In my metaphorical book, Bethesda is king of RPG's. I would say Fallout 3 or New Vegas is the best, barely passing Oblivion and Skyrim. Gosh those games are fun, I just wished NPC's would spawn more frequently (besides the PC).

I must agree, but Skyrim is awesome I love all Bethesda games, thanks.

Yes format, I love tabletop AD&D myself I have never tried any sci-fi role playing games.

It's been a long time since I played D&D but I was raised on Star Wars (the originals) Star Trek (again, original series) Red Dwarf (a British comedy sci-fi, not sure if the rest of the world was touched by its hilarity) and Firefly when I was a little older so I'm a huge sci-fi nerd. The rules I'm using (more like creating) are actually based on some modified cowboy RP rules from about 30 years ago so they're perfect for the space cowboy type stuff found in Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star and Space Dandy.

This has inspired me to create a thread for sharing stories from our RPG experiences.

Tales of Vesperia. One of my favourite games ever. I like my RPGs to be computer based, I haven't gotten along well with tabletop RPGs at all in the past.

I am an experienced cook, musician and care worker though, so that's something.

Been more interested in MMORPGs for the past decade. The types of MMORPGs I like are usually brawlers or having a certain level of action whatsoever (like there is any other kind these days).

I still thoroughly enjoy a good turn/ATB based RPG though. Just haven't been getting around those these days.

Hmm. For me, there's plenty of contenders. There's Fallout 1, 3 and New Vegas {2 was awful to me}, Morrowind was nice, if difficult to get into because the Dunmer are, well.... dicks, so why bother helping them along? Baldur's Gate series was also great, despite gameplay issues. Deus Ex {and if you listen closely, you'll hear someone reinstalling it}, the first one that is, was also one of my all-time favorites.

But the best one is indisputably so, not because of how it plays, but because I have always been a sucker for beautiful atmosphere and writing. And really...

Well I love me a good old DnD game with dice and papers and a throw of fate and using your mind.   Form or word role plays can be fun to write and be with other people and just even to write,   When it comes to gaming I'll say more old school with turn base and epic stories and stuff.

Okami:    Its about a wolf/sun goddess who save to save the world of a folklore based japan. Add in good humor,  a lovely pace of story and side quest and good cannons but its also just freak pretty makes it my fav game!

Old School Pokemon:  I'll stick to the 250 and GBC when it comes to my pokemon now with all these gens popping up.

FFX:   Epic story line,  slight romance,   temples and questing  and fighting and just wow moments even to todays Graphics and rpgs still stands in my heart!

Persona 3/4:  You have to make friends to power up and level?    Date?   Do many a side deed and stuff to keep the story going is what makes Persona stands out.  Not out of this  world of  graphics yet good story to keep you wanting more and just plan out fun is this game!

Hm, that's a toughy. Some of my favorite RPGs I like them not for their story-line, but how much detail the creators of the game put into it.

However, I really enjoy the Witcher series. Especially the Witcher 3, mainly because there's a lot of fun things to do and try out.

As for a multiplayer RPG, I think I would go with World of Warcraft or Star Wars: The Old Republic.
