gaming Games that made your childhood

Shitty Game Boy and Playstation games because neither my family nor myself had any taste... Like, cheaply designed game titles for cartoons of the day like Spongebob and Scooby Doo and the like. Civ III was the first real quality game I ever got a taste of, thanks to my dad. Still remember the day I loaded up one of his old saves and went to town (and lost horribly in the process but yeh).

I've played through Paper Mario 64 more times than I'd care to say, and I've worn out a few joysticks using Bow's slap attack.

I also played a lot of Super Smash Bros (losing against my brother over and over), Pokémon Puzzle League, Mario Party 2, and only last year did I finally get all of the Crystal Shards in Kirby 64 and fight the REAL final boss. :D We also rented games from Blockbuster, like Pokémon Snap, Hey You Pikachu, and Mario Party 3. My sister tells me that Blockbuster would print out the photos you got from Pokémon Snap onto fridge magnets for you. :)

I also spent a lot of time watching my three older siblings play video games, like my brothers playing Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, (and I'd hide behind a blanket whenever the redeads appeared), my sister playing Super Mario 64 (until her friend stole the cartridge from us), and my bro and dad playing V8 or Army Men together. I also used to wake my dad up early on Sunday Mornings so we could play Mario Kart 64 together...

Then, when we got an old NES and a bunch of games from my dad's job, my brother and sister would spend a day getting as far as they could in Super Mario Bros. 3, and my sister would continuously try and beat her high score on Tetris.  Aah, memories. ^^

Geez, there's a lot of love for Spyro here, I don't know a single person IRL that ever liked his games.

My childhood games that really meant something to me:

Spyro 1, 2, and 3

Pokemon sapphire version

Wind waker

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Mario Party 6

NFL Blitz 2003

Super Monkey Ball 2

Pokemon LeafGreen/FireRed

and Happy Feet (the game)

All those games I have always enjoyed playing since I was 4! :yay:

The only reason NFL BlitZ 2003 is on my list is because I loved it when the color-commentators screamed. "HE'S GOING ALL THE WAY!" or "That was bad!" and Madden would say... "Don't look at me look at the kid with the controller, he's the one who threw it." :P

Us gamers usually have been playing ever since we were little.

So what was a game that made your childhood?

Me?

As a 17 year old, a game I played when I was young was Thrillville: Off the Rails.

It was really fun and I played it for the majority of my later years in my childhood.

Yes! That was an awesome game for PS2! I can remember just free roaming in the park and playing these two western and futuristic shooter arcade mini games. Awesome times! :D

hmm, well I remember when I was just a kid, I would spend hours just watching my cousin playing Halo CE and Halo 2.  As I got older, I joined in with him and eventually I was able to pick up Halo myself and I've never stopped playing it since  :D

When I was a kid I have played a lot of Sonic, I have beaten many times all the classic Genesis games.

Broken Sword. That game has some really nice atmosphere, and beautiful painted backgrounds. I wish I could play it again for the first time, except the goat puzzle maybe. :)

Smash Bros all day every day. From the 64 to the Wii, I've accumulated the most play time....except for Pokemon. Nothing probably comes close ^^

It was the first game I played, and boy did I play it. Went through nearly every version, even if it was the alternate option (Yellow, Red, Blue, etc).

I was so clueless, too x3

Couldn't figure out how to leave the house, and didn't know how to restore PP (learning about the Pokemon Center made things easier) xD

Oh. Good times. Some tragic new games along the way, but it was always fun!

I'm gonna really throw it back to the old school in this thread- I remember going to the laundromat (this was circa 2005) and playing on what must have been one of the last original Galaga cabinets still in non-arcade use. I remember being amazed that they still had a machine that proudly read "copyright 1981" on the side. I loved that game. Both Galaga and the Mrs. Pacman machine that were in the laundromat got auctioned off to the owner of a vintage arcade up here in Kansas City when the laundromat was remodeled in 2007, so I'm going to assume that the cabinet has lived on in the vintage arcade. Wonder if someone has beaten my high score yet?

As for the other games that helped shape what I play today:

-Need For Speed Undergound 2

-Gran Turismo 3 & 4

- Star Wars Battlefront 1 & 2

- The original Pokemons (I have no clue what they were called, this was circa 1999 on Gameboy Color)

- The Sonic trilogy for Sega Genesis

- The early 2000s EA Sports games. All of them.

I played a lot of Super Nintendo as a kid and I'll always remember games like Super Bomberman 2, Yoshi's Island, and Super Castlevania 4, however there is one game that I hold the most fond memories of: Chrono Trigger.

By far my favorite game of all time, and one I go back and replay many times to this day.

Why have they not made a Pokemon Snap sequel on the Wii U? It's like... The perfect console for such a concept...
