@@Taialin,

Sorry for taking so long to respond! Times are really, really tough for me right now, but I'll do my best to keep this roleplay alive as best I can...

That's a good point. I feel that it should be up to @Windbreaker, as I don't control his character, so I leave it to him to decide whether Alex gets the ability or not.

I don't plan on having Colette be aware of her "ability" until such time any Unicorn or Alicorn uses any particularly strong magic or spell, but as I said, I didn't really have the idea too fleshed out, so I may drop it altogether...

@@Hypn0ticD,

Sorry if I went missing for a bit again - had a big, obligatory set of assignments at school, but I'll try and get back to this as soon as my brain isn't as mushy~

I am hoping Troblems gets a chance to reply. I keep refreshing the main page like a loony :derp: hoping for a post from her, but it's hard work being staff.

Unfortunately due to real life complication Troblems is pretty much on a Leave of Absence from role play at this time. It'll be a bit before she can continue as it were. :)

Also, HypnoticD wanted me to let you know that she is slow as swell due to real life stuffs; FYI.

I'd like to throw Dark Wing in as well. Luna's second set of eyes and ears.

Name: Dark Wing

Species: Bat Pony

Approximate Age: Young Adult

Mare or Stallion: Stallion

Height (Feet and inches): 5' 1"

Weight (in pounds): 185 lbs

Eye color: Gold with slit pupils

Mane color: Two tone purple and lavender.

Physical Description: Slightly taller and lanker than the average guardspony. He has slit pupils as well as larger ears with a bit of extra fur on top of them. He is never seen without his armor.

Occupation (Optional): Royal Lunar Guard

Other distinctive features (if any):

Backstory (A little more about your character):DarkWing lived a rough life as a colt. He was born of a servant mother, and his father left shortly after his younger brother Paladin was born. There mother loved them very much, trying to provide for them the best she could. As time went on, she began to become ill, hiding it from everypony, for she knew she had to provide for her children. DarkWing could tell something was wrong, but couldn't put his hoof on it. One day after coming home from the palace, she collapsed in front of him. DarkWing quickly got his brother and they took her to the hospital.

She did not have long, as she called her oldest son over to her, as she told him to take his brother home and watch over him. He kissed her on her head and took Paladin home. The next day when they came to visit her, she was gone. It was just the two brothers left to watch over each other. The only thing they had was the old, small house on the outskirts of Canterlot, though it wasn't much. The sold off as much as they could to live off of till all that remained was the house, their beds, and a few blankets.

As the brothers laid in the cold empty house, their stomachs rumbling from hunger, a realization hits them. They would need to have to steal or starve to death, for nopony would give two young school age blankflank colts a job. So it was settled, the next day they would steal their next meal. It was DarkWing's turn first, though he had trouble with the fact that he would have to steal his food. He got lucky however as he found some apples that had fallen into the street. The brothers would alternate who's turn it would be steal food. One fateful day however, that would all change.

DarkWing watched out the window, awaiting the return of his younger brother Paladin, but it was in vain. Finally, a knock came on the door. DarkWing opened it, expecting to find his brother with their meal, however, he was only half right. There stood Paladin with a Royal Guard behind him. When the guard asked to speak with their parents, DarkWing shook his head, pointing to dusty picture on the wall of them with their mother, the last thing remaining in the house, and explained that it was just him and his brother.

DarkWing was scared to death as the Royal Guard began to speak. He explained that for the past year, shops and restaurants had been reporting food missing and that whoever was doing it had great skill in stealth. Had he not been on patrol, he would have never caught them. He was surprised however how young the colts responsible where. The guard did not have the heart to throw two young colts in jail, and instead, knowing that enrollment in the guard was down, offered the two a deal. If they would come with him to enroll in the guard's training program, pledging their life to protecting Equestra, he would make sure they where taken care of. DarkWing accepted on one condition, that he and his brother could not be separated. The guard agreed. From that moment forth, the belonged to Equestria.

The two brothers worked together, excelling in their training, particularity those of nocturnal activities. They recently graduated and have received a commission into the Night Guard. Since starting, he as shown to be a dedicated and loyal member of the Night Guard.

Cutie Mark: A purple shied with a half moon. Bat Wings are behind the half moon.

@@Hypn0ticD

And Merry Christmas to you! Apparently, according to Google, Santa just passed by my city about ten minutes ago!

And about Princess Celestia . . . full disclosure, here: I don't actually know how to characterize Celestia all that well, but I have a background in writing and characterization of the mane 6. And I think I'm halfway decent at playing one of them, at least. At your discretion, I'd like to dip my toes in the water.

Name

She goes by a few names, actually:

·         Princeps Splendida Facilius Caelestia Capiamus

·         Celestia Sol Invictus

·         Princess Celestia

Species

Alicorn

Age

She always seems to answer this question cryptically, and no one besides her sister has been alive long enough to know the answer. We'll just say "over a thousand years."

Gender

Female

Height

6'0'', 6'8'' if you count the horn.

Weight

275 lbs

Eye color

Magenta

Mane color

Perhaps pink at one point, but now a multicolored ethereal mane of pink, turquoise, and periwinkle.

Physical description

Princess Celestia towers over just about every other pony around. She's tall and somewhat slim, though she's not as lanky as her sister. Her coat color is a virgin, perfect white.

Her mane and tail are ethereal, colorful creations that she shares in style with her sister. They flow along to a different beat than conventional manes, irrespective of wind or movement. They only calm when Celestia wills them to stop. Despite this, they are substantial things that require maintenance.

Her other distinctive feature is her horn, which is a good deal longer than any unicorn could boast about (a point that causes varying degrees of jealousy among that race). Overall, Princess Celestia is viewed as a model of perfection and epitomized divine beauty.

Cutie mark

A stylized sun

Occupation

Co-ruler of Equestria, Princess of the Sun

Personality

Celestia's subjects often use many words to describe her, though if they were to quote just one, the most popular would probably be "wise." Through a long life comes immense experience and wisdom. She always seems to know what to say to solve a problem or quell an issue, which is why her subjects come to request it of her so often. A tedious job, to be sure, but Celestia enjoys helping her little ponies. It's only been recently that she's delegated some of this judgment to her sister and protégée instead.

Another word would be "benevolent." Very, very rarely does Princess Celestia ever display anger or get visibly perturbed by anything. Hence why the prison wardens of Equestria take part-time jobs as bouncers or security consultants; they're crown-sanctioned jobs as a matter of principle, but it's rare that they ever get work. Princess Celestia is too forgiving to send too many of her subjects to prison when there are so many better ways to reform a pony who's lost their way. Of course, this can lead to some issues on occasion . . .

It's an odd word to use, to be sure, but another word would be "mentorly." Princess Celestia takes pride in seeing the most promising of her ponies become upstanding leaders of society under her tutelage: that's what her School for Gifted Unicorns is for. There, she tries to cultivate the next generation's leaders, bureaucrats, and academics. It's a storied and venerable place to be. Of course, for a very select few ponies, they get the privilege to be under the personal guidance of Celestia herself. She only takes on a single protégé at a time, and she often takes several decades in between. She only mentors those ponies with extreme promise that she feels could become legendary with time. And for her past two, she has definitely succeeded, though perhaps not in the most straightforward way.

When one finds themselves with the princess in a more informal setting (or even certain formal ones), another word that would come to mind is "playful." Celestia doesn't fill the typical "ruler" stereotype because she does like to have fun, and she has no problem showing her little ponies that she likes just that. With only few exceptions, Celestia is not what you would call an "uptight" pony. Whether it be repeatedly "spicing up" galas, letting her pet "die" in the care of another for a prank, or just plain "trolling," Celestia is not nearly the staid, formal pony that the moniker "Princess of the Sun" would seem to suggest.

But behind the mask, Celestia is something of a different pony when she's out of the public eye. It's also a word that could be used to describe her, but it's one only a select few ponies—such as her sister—are allowed to know: "false." While she really is wise, benevolent, mentorly, and playful, but what she is not is calm, forgiving, and unperturbed as she appears like so often in the public eye. She feels sadness, anger, envy, jealousy, longing, and grief just like any other pony. But while those other traits that she allows to show are acceptable, even endearing, in the public eye, Celestia knows that weakness is not. Equestria doesn't need a bitter, jealous, angry ruler, she thinks. Equestria's lifeblood is positivity and happiness, and it would be a travesty for one of her rulers to contravene that notion. That's why she hides all those negative emotions under a carefully crafted façade honed over centuries of practice. You may very well ignite her ire, but she will make sure that you never see that happening.

Backstory

Celestia's history is not particularly well known, given that the ponies that were alive during her birth are long gone now, and secondary sources are unreliable at best. Neither Celestia nor Luna disclose much about their pasts, either. The best records can be had from the ruins of the Castle of the Two Sisters, where Celestia and Luna spent many of their early years.

Celestia and Luna appeared to be playful little ponies back then, playing pranks on each other and setting up elaborate traps for the other's amusement. They also appeared to be born to their elements, where Celestia felt more active in the light of day, but Luna sought comfort in the quite of night. Even so, apparently, they found time enough for each other such that they got along very well. Innocent as they were, they didn't know much about the evils of the world . . . until the Spirit of Chaos arrived and very nearly plunged the world into an oblivion devoid of sanity. It was only by Celestia and Luna's quick thinking and use of the Elements of Harmony that the Spirit of Chaos could be locked away for a millennium of peace.

It was then that the sisters realized the dangers that Equestria faced. But Equestria didn't need to be a dangerous place, provided there were ponies powerful enough to defend her and lead the nation with a kind hoof. Partially through pressure from their "fans," and partially through an obligation make the world a better place, Celestia and Luna took the mantle of leadership and became Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. And having an innate connection to their elements, they took to raising the sun and moon each and every day and night.

Their rule was just, fair, and very well taken to by the rest of Equestria. Celestia organized fair laws, helped unite the races of the land, was generous to those who needed it, laughed with her friends and enemies, and was honest in all her dealings with her subjects. Though the most enlightened of historians also note that Celestia appeared a bit more honest back then than she is now. Whatever the case, they also noted that this was the time that a rift started to appear between the two sisters.

Celestia was well-loved by her subjects, to be sure, but Luna was only respected by them at best, and downright ignored at worst. Reportedly, Luna spent hours adjusting the moonlight to be just so, yet few ponies were thankful or even noticed. This inequality all came to a head one night when Luna confronted her sister, filled with a hatred and vengeance so overwhelming that it consumed her, transforming into Nightmare Moon.

Horrified, Celestia tried to negotiate with her sister. But when it became clear that she would not listen to reason, she resorted to more drastic measures. In a decision she still considers rash, she took over her sister's share of the Elements of Harmony and used all six of them to banish her sister to the moon for a thousand years.

After the banishment, to the whole of Equestria, it appeared as though little had changed. The sun and moon still rose every night, and Celestia was still the benevolent ruler she always was. Some questioned where the lesser sister went, but few were concerned, and the world forgot once they passed away. But to the more insightful, it was clear something had changed. And to Celestia, her whole world had transformed before her eyes.

(The following is known through a handful of leaked internal interviews with her and her sister, post-second diarchy. Very few know of this information.)

Celestia very quickly blamed herself for her sister's hatred, and over and over, she questioned what she could have done so that things could be different. Despite her advisors telling her that there was nothing else that could have been done, and that Princess Luna had turned evil, Celestia refused to believe it. She couldn't bear to believe that her sister would be forever condemned to being evil, and she couldn't accept that she had lost her only sister. The first night when Celestia raised the moon by herself was unbearable, and eyewitnesses could swear that they saw the moon weeping that night.

All this was during the night, both when she felt her sister's absence most strongly and when she was out of the public eye. During the day, Celestia struggled to maintain a pleasant face for her subjects. They needed a strong ruler who ruled kindly and justly no matter the circumstance—it was a sacrifice she was willing to make. And so it went for several centuries: Celestia smiled and ruled as she always did during the day, and she wept and lamented her sister during the night.

It wasn't until a few years before her sister's return that Celestia finally hatched a plan to get her sister back, and it all hinged on Twilight Sparkle, the most promising student she'd ever had. Though introverted at the moment, Celestia saw in her a spark hidden deep inside that she hadn't seen since the Starswirl the Bearded days—and it might just be enough to win her sister back. Having long lost the ability to control the elements, she planned for Twilight to head them herself with a group of friends and use them to purify her sister. And while Celestia herself was momentarily overwhelmed by Nightmare Moon, when she found herself again, she found her plan worked. Her sister had returned to her. It was the first time in a millennia that Celestia cried in happiness.

But old habits die hard. Even as Celestia found herself happier than she had even been in recent memory, even in light of returning villains such as Discord, Chrysalis, and Sombra, she still ruled as she did before: guarded. Whatever the negative emotions she accrued during the day, she didn't show them then—only at night. It was how she had ruled for nigh on a millennium, after all. Even with her sister, she has trouble expressing her true feelings at times; no one needs to know about a feeble ruler who still has nightmares about banishing her own sister, after all.

This is the OOC thread where you leave applications, right?  I'll just leave this riiiiiiiiight here:

Name: Discord

Species: Draconequus

Approximate Age: Ancient

Gender: Male

Height: 10' 5" (lengthy body)

Weight: varies

Eye Color: Yellow eyes with red irises

Mane Color: The stripe up his back is black, but the rest is a uniform white

Physical Description:  Discord is an eclectic mish-mash of a number of different creatures.  He has a left right leg of a lizard, the left leg of a deer, the left arm of an eagle, the right arm of a lion, the left wing of a Pegasus, the right wing of a bat, a red dragon’s tail (complete with a tuft of white fur which can function as another hand), and a donkey’s mane leading up to his pony-like head, complete with a goat horn on the left and a deer’s antler on the right, as well as a single sharp fang and bushy white eyebrows with a matching goatee.  His eyes are yellow with red irises which are usually of two different sizes.

Occupation:  Lord of Chaos

Other Distinctive Features: Can change without a moment's notice

Backstory: His beginnings are steeped in mystery.  Nopony knows where he came from or what his true purpose is, yet somehow he managed to use his extremely potent powers to ultimately take full and utter control of all of Equestria.  As the supreme and undisputed ruler, his random mischief and wild pranks turned the entire land into one enormous hodge-podge of chaos, causing a seemingly endless amount of misery to all the ponies who lived there.

It wasn’t until the Alicorn Princesses, Celestia and her younger sister Luna, made their play to attempt to dethrone him that he had ever truly known any kind of resistance; and he relished the idea of watching these two try and fail to take him down.  Though their first attempt was less than successful, they regrouped and made the discovery of the Tree of Harmony, where they gathered the Elements of Harmony from.  Setting out to end Discord’s rule, they confronted him directly.  Utilizing the Elements of Harmony, the two princesses imprisoned Discord in stone, effectively turning him into a statue.  He was placed in the Canterlot Palace Gardens, so an eye could be kept on him.

So imprisoned, hundreds of years passed as Discord sat in the Palace Gardens.  Eventually, his legend was dulled or outright forgotten by many, save for the Princesses themselves and the stained-glass mosaic that depicted his downfall within Canterlot Castle.

Then one day during a school field trip to the gardens, an argument broke out between Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom and Scootaloo over the statue of Discord – and their own disharmony, coupled with the fact of the recently transferred Elements from the Princesses to the current bearers, caused a crack in the statue.  Discord was now free – and he was determined to take back Equestria and return it to a state of utter disharmony once again.

He immediately began causing random acts of chaos – from floating houses to chocolate rain, and much more.  From this, Celestia recognized the danger and charged the new bearers of the Elements to return him to stone.  Unfortunately, the Elements (in their necklace/crown forms) had been pilfered by Discord himself.  Upon his appearance and with a few taunts, he challenged the ‘Mane 6’ to a little game: To keep Discord from ruling all of Equestria again, they had to find the hidden Elements of Harmony, which he insinuated were within a hedge-maze labyrinth he had created in the Palace Gardens.

As they searched the maze, Discord approached each one in turn and, using their fears and faults against them, enchanted each one (except for Twilight Sparkle) with a spell that began effectively reversing their particular Element’s trait: Applejack became a habitual liar, Rarity became greedy, Fluttershy became mean-spirited and cruel, Pinkie Pie became cold and suspicious, and Rainbow Dash was convinced to leave the maze and take off to Cloudsdale – the latter being the move that, according to the rules set forth by Discord at the beginning of the maze, meant that he had bested them, and was therefore free to rule in chaos again.

Though Twilight tried to use the Elements to entrap him again, the sour and dour attitudes of the other bearers (not to mention the missing one) made it impossible to recreate the spell.  As Discord began to reshape Ponyville into ‘The Chaos Capital of Equestria’, Twilight seemingly gave up and made to leave for good.  Unfortunately for Discord, Twilight didn’t give up – she managed to disenchant her friends and rally them against him.

Once more, the Elements of Harmony were used to lock Discord into a statue form, where he was handed over to Celestia and returned to being under the Princesses watch.  In time, Twilight and the other Bearers were approached by Celestia again regarding Discord.  She stated that it would be their task to try to reform him for the good of all Equestria, and that Fluttershy would be key in this endeavor.

Twilight and the others released him from his statue prison once more, and made it quite clear to him that any hijinks on his part would result in a return to his stony cell, permanently.  Upon consideration (and with a few pranks already in place), Discord decided to play along.  Fluttershy agreed to take him in, allowing him a real chance to change his ways while he stayed at her home.

Upon his arrival at Fluttershy’s cottage, he made himself comfortable at his host’s request – which included levitating and slowly spinning her house, griefing Angel the bunny, and generally being a big pain in the flank.

he put on a façade of reformation as he continued to cause trouble on the sly.  Fluttershy, eager to show how far the ‘former’ villain had matured, invited the other Bearers to a tea party, where Discord played minor pranks on them… but when put on the spot about his chaotic jokes, Fluttershy defended him and shamed them all for seemingly not even giving him a chance.

During this party, Angel informed them that Sweet Apple Acres had been flooded.  Putting the party off, they rushed to the scene, and saw that beavers (who had been enchanted by Discord earlier, during his release) had dammed it in, and there was seemingly no way to fix it.

Upon being told to fix the problem, he agreed to do so... if Fluttershy promised NEVER to use her Element of Kindness against him again.  She agreed to the deal, and Discord ended the flood… by freezing the water and burying Sweet Apple Acres underneath a thick layer of ice.  Believing himself to be free of reproach, he then offered Fluttershy the chance to ice skate with him – which she refused, as she had felt he had gone back on his word, and renounced their friendship.

Discord tried to play off the fact that he was going to lose his only real friend, but in the end he changed things back to normal rather than lose Fluttershy’s friendship.  With this act, Celestia was shown that Discord could indeed act on behalf of Harmony, and he was allowed to remain free.

Since then, he has grown somewhat fond of the new role he's been primed to play.  He may have had a setback or two, but all in all he has begun to not only acknowledge the world around him as being important, but to realize that friendship is actually something he wants.  Not that it'll stop the pranks, mind you... but it certainly shows that this individual has come a long way since his self-serving days of old.  Time will yet tell whether or not this will yield the kind of results that Celestia was hoping for.

Huh. I thought Apple Bloom was on you, given that she was your character. I know that Celestia helped her get to Canterlot, so where is she supposed to be now?

@@Taialin, @@Windbreaker,

Yeah, I'm playing Apple Bloom, whose supposed to be accompanying Celestia back to Canterlot Castle, where Applejack's gonna yell at her for disobeying orders, and Pinkie Pie's supposed to be looking for Celestia...

@,

Hate to be a bother, but any chance of a Cadance post soon? Don't want you getting too far behind...

Ah, got it. I can't do much about Pinkie, really, given I already acknowledged her. As for Apple Bloom, I could run back to the train station and retrieve her, but do you have in mind a method to make the reunion less, um, awkward?
