The 80s Nostalgia thread

Yeah the 80s was like the golden age for my dad as he was born in 1970. So he got his own Commodore 64 computer with a tape and 8inch floppy drive plus even my dad got a high quality boom box in 1985 and it's still in our house today! Anyways my dad did do some good mixes in the late 80s with his turntable, mixer and of course his top quality metal caste tapes! He also recorded his mixes using his boom box plus his mixes have been digitised more recently and I've got them on my IPod touch! :)

I love the 80's! (despite not being born in that era...)

We actually had an 80's night on our cruise, which I kinda dressed up for!

I was born in 1984. About mid 80's.

However, by the time I was really old enough to start making memories (maybe around '87-'88), the 80's were on their way out. So my memories of the 80's exist in this weird nebula.

There are things I am nostalgic for. I grew up with plenty of shows, movies, music, and toys from 80's. I'll even surprise myself with how much I know sometimes. Keep in mind that in the 80's and 90's, things like reruns on television were a thing. DJ's on the radio playing songs from previous decades were a thing.

However, I was just a kid in my own childhood world. So there is still TONS of stuff from the 80's I missed beyond pop culture. It's like I only was around long enough to see half the picture. (Yes, I see the irony. Born in mid 80's, only see half the picture. Pun not intended.) Really, I began to make some the best childhood and teen year memories in the 90's. For that, I always tend to consider myself a 90's child even though I was born in the 80's. Still, I mustn't forget that the 80's also played a significant role in my young childhood too.

Occasionally, I have to remind myself just how far I've come. Still blows my mind sometimes that 90's music is now considered oldies, cause I still don't feel that old. I am, but I still feel just as young and capable as ever. ^_^

I'm a zoomer so obviously didn't live through the 80s. But some of the best music of all time came out of that era. The Smiths, MJ, Lou Reed, Prince, all released some of, if not their best work during the 80s. Prince especially, it's crazy just how much quality music he put out through the 80s. The 80s also gave us Top Gun which basically made both Tom Cruise and the F-14 Tomcat cultural icons. To the point where you still have people dressing up as Maverick, Goose, and Iceman at air shows and such.
