Would you give your life for the fandom?

Ziggy + Angel + Rain

Recommended Posts

Cheerful topic is cheerful.  Somewhat tapping into the forum's seeming preoccupation with death:

Would you give your life for the "good" of the fandom?  "Good" is in quotes because one pony's good deed is another pony's, "I didn't want to cross the street in the first place!"  And then you get hit by a purse? saddlebag.

I look forward to whatever answers you could possibly have to this question.  Please keep in mind that this is entirely hypothetical.

...You know I'd probably give my life for anyone or anything right about now; I have so little caring over my own life anymore.

No, God no. This isn't a lifestyle for me, it's just a hobby - something I like to do on the sideline when I'm not doing anything else.

If it all went away because I didn't, as an individual, sacrifice my life for the greater good of the overall fandom, then so be it.

Your life has value; don't squander it.  Start caring.  Just look to the people that do care about you to show you how.

For the fandom? No.

For people? Maybe. I'd like to think that I could risk my life for the good of other people, but that's an easy thing to say sitting in my office chair, typing on a forum.

Giving my life? Uhh.. i'll give it part of my life, sure. That's been working out pretty well so far. But it's not the only thing in my life I hold close, certainly not the closest. So no, I wouldn't go that far.

That's nice of you to say, really, but I'm afraid I've reachced that point where it's too late for me to give a damn about myself anymore.

Anyway, would I sacrifice myself for a show? No. For an individual/group of people? Most likely, after a great deal of hesitation at first though.

No. Of course not.

In what hypothetical situation could this happen in the first place?

It's a hostage situation.  A crazed stamp-collector is holding a spork dangerously near the left armpit of the fandom.  As represented by a store mannequin.

Why did you answer if you thought the scenario impossible / ridiculous? xD

That's nice of you to say, really, but I'm afraid I've reachced that point where it's too late for me to give a damn about myself anymore.

I don't think it's ever too late.  I'm thirty-two, and I started caring / feeling more and doing more recently.  Everyone undergoes countless changes in their lifetime; just wait for the next good change.  Stick around and see what happens.  You'll be surprised.

No, as much as I love this fandom the only way you're going to get me to give up my life for the fandom is if all of of the fandom was in danger of dying and my death could save those thousands of lives.

No, I wouldn't.

Don't get me wrong, there are some people here that I would give up my life for, but in no way would I give up my life for the fandom. There's too much to live for and look forward to in life, and frankly, as much as MLP is, there are things more valuable in this world than it.

I would never give my life for the fandom. It's a hobby of mine, not a lifestyle.

Now, if it was for friends that i met through the fandom, we might be getting somewhere.

@,

If someone planted a bomb beneath Bronycon and my attempts to stop the bomber would succeed but get me killed? Absolutely.

If the fandom marched against an armed branch of Westboro Baptist Church and they needed a champion to charge into the gunfire, sword drawn? Without a doubt.

If the fandom had an explicit brony candidate running as president and someone tried to assassinate him/her? I'd take that bullet with a smile.

If the fandom rules a small moon terraformed to resemble Equestria and a threat from our neighbors comes down? Where's the sign up sheet for enlistment?

Don't mistake me, I'm not preoccupied with death and I love my life. I just think some things are worth fighting and if necessary, dying for.

Those are much better scenarios than I was able to come up with.

Speaking of which, when are they gonna put us on their hit list? Seems like something they would do.

On topic, if there were other lives involved, probably. But just the show... no.

Let's not jinx it shall we? I only mentioned that as something that nopony on the Forums would take offense to being associated as our enemies in a hypothetical scenario.
