I liked it. Not the best, but still very enjoyable. I wouldn't say Josh Haber has left his "safe" zone, yet, but compared to his other two episodes, this one to me definitely felt... "justified" in playing it safe.

I'd probably rate it 7.5/10

Also, extremely glad DT&SS only appeared briefly.

And AJ has a really good motherly tone when she sings a lullaby like that. That's what I like about AJ.

The only problem I had (and I'm sure many of you will agree on this one) was the decision to say that Babs can't be a CMC anymore.  Bad call, Hasbro.  Bad call.  This is a problem we have worried about on these forums for a long time--the problem of what would happen when one of the CMC gets their mark, and would it divide them and so on.  Well, now we know.  This is very sad.  I can live with it because of the fact that they went out of their way to say that they can still be friends, but it's ridiculous and unfair discrimination to not allow Babs in the club.  Wouldn't Babs still want to help them get their marks?  Wouldn't she still want to help the blankflanks?  Would she not still be an advocate for proper treatment of blankflanks?  Wouldn't she still want to work to stop bullying of blankflanks?  Is that not reason enough to be a CMC?

Anyway, this is no different.  Magneto wouldn't allow non-mutants in his group, even if they believed in him and backed his cause.  That's unfair, and that's the flaw in his methodology.  Babs would surely still believe in their cause, so how is it right to not allow her in the club?  I thought that they would change their mind after the dream segment in which AB was cast out.  Saying that they can still be friends wasn't good enough imo.  This just isn't right at all.  I'm very disappointed by this decision.

I think that after the dreams that the CMCs had - they all had dreams, right? - they will see how foolish it is to think that Babs can't be a CMC anymore.  This is because their "club" is about more than getting cutie marks.  It's about the bonds they've forged with each other in their quest for cutie marks.  If they get the CMs, they are still very close, so no reason to dissolve their fellowship.  And I think they will all see that.  And yes, they will surely be there for other little fillies who are anxious about getting their cutie marks.

It was a good episode. knew sooner or later theyd do a applebloom/luna dream ep, it was inevitable. Im a big fan of the first 2, and this one didnt disappoint. i do take issue that we didnt get to see babs get her cutie mark. Maybe that couldve been an episode, then this came after, but well never know. the whole nightmare within a nightmare bit was a little predictable, but i dont consider that a bad thing. i rather loved luna bringing them together in one dream. first, its a nice little way to wrap this little trilogy up. second, kinda ties into a concept id been trying to o figure out for a fanfic im writing, and this simplifies things a bit. lol

Rarity "generously" giving Sweetie a 1

---

On another note, pancakes seem to be a recurring motif this season . Must investigate further.

Technically, if there were no other singers, that generous 1 should be all it takes to qualify.  Let's give the janitor a chance to sing!  ;)

---

Nice catch!  I wonder if there's going to be a pancake monster in season 5...

I really liked this one. The whole dream sequence really put Applebloom through the wringer, but hopefully she learned her lesson. It was nice to see Luna taking care of dream business once again. And who knew Big Mac could be so mean?

Also, something's got to be done about Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, even if they're in a dream.

So been away all day but I was able to watch a live stream of the episode today.

Anyways: What I liked:

The CMC's interactions

The Humor

Weirdness- This definitely plays with the fact that anything ANYTHING can happen in a dream and it works

BIG MAC HAS MORE THAN ONE LINE. I REPEAT BIG MAC HAS MORE THAN ONE LINE!!!!!!

What I didn't like:

That they pretty much Pertwee'd out Babs Seed.  I mean she was in two episodes previously and yet here is sort of written out.  At least with Pertwee he was only in the ending of one episode.

What was meh to me:

You could see it was a dream within a dream from the beginning.  Once again they do play with the dream thing so it's not a huge deal.

Princess Luna- Yeah, she just sort of shows up at the end, and gives the message to Apple Bloom.  Not bad but she had a lot more interaction with Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo in their dreams.

Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.

I think well have an episode focusing to Diamond Tiara. Her VA teased about it

Hmm, maybe some actual character? As well as some background on why she's so mean? I really hope so. I would really love to actually have her at least somewhat sympathetic.

I liked how they handled the new aspect of Cutie marks.  [it's like they read our forums and put the nope on the crazier cutie mark theories.

Siezure spoiler warning:

I like the subtle touch of a different thing being baked each time.  With each time becoming crazier.

I also congratulate Peter New in getting 2 roles!  (pest guy)

I loved all the little details between the different dream sequences. And 10/10 for Best Princess

I loved how the pancakes (Second pancake episode of the season!) gradually worked up to being a multi-layer frosted cake for breakfast! Also, Luna sure does know how to make an entrance! I do wish they would have opened a few more doors to show other colts and fillies worries.

Eh. Decent enough, and certain aspects were great, but I didn't really get into it until over halfway through. Asides from Luna, and this being the third and final 'Luna helps the CMC episodes, this felt pretty average. Hurrah for Babs and her creative talent though. I like the connection about her blowing her hair.

I loved it. They're definitely taking the show in a deep direction, playing out to the fans of all the age groups. Glad to hear Babs finally found her talent. Also love Luna's ability to integrate others into the dream world -- that was something I was kind of hoping to see one day.

And yet,

I can't help but feel this has Starlight Glimmer's hoof-writing all over it, even if Luna kind of denounced that by revealing it was AB's own "shadow" of worries.

I loved this episode and how it was focused on Applebloom. Vinyl and Octavia should have gotten a speaking role though. Applebloom looked adorable in that pest control outfit!! Who ya gonna call?!

I don't like Babs Seed having got her cutie mark. We only got two episodes with her and so little character development. I'd like to see her more as a mainstream Crusader.

That is a good point, actually... One could only hope they find a way to reintegrate her at a later point, or at least keep her in mention. Wishful thinking on my part, I'm sure.

It was okay. I thought it was kind of 'meh', just a little bit disappointing but still a decent episode. Some of it was just a little boring and repetitive. It could have been executed better. There are some thing to like though, the moral was excellent and it was great to see Luna get another appearance, but Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle's dream episodes were better in my opinion.

A fairly entertaining episode. I'm not too hot on CMC episodes though.

Hearing Babs getting her cutie mark actually took my by surprise.

Luna's entrance was both beautiful and majestic.  :comeatus:

Overall, this episode was kind of trippy and creepy, but it's nice to know that the CMC nightmare episodes have come full circle.

And sorry for the lateness of my reply and my newest review video. I was feeling sick today and I didn't want to puke or faint mid-review. Enjoy the newest video!
