Actually it's not stupidity, just Denial. It's actually completely in character for Rainbowdash.

Oh, I completely agree that she's in denial and that this is in character for her. The aforementioned stupidity was more the fact that she denied his hibernation after being shown evidence to the contrary. People could certainly take issue with it.
