What do you do when you're stressed and depressed?

Sit constantly thinking about things and listening to music at the sametime. Usually will stay up late throughout the night when I start to constantly ponder about things.

Really, I can't get myself un-depressed easily. I usually have to wait until something good happens for once. But I haven't had as many depressive (but I have had manic episodes) recently. With my novice knowledge of psychology, I can tell you there is definitely something wrong inside my noggin.

I'm rarely in those states of mind. But if it tends to happen, I'll watch a bunch of comedy - usually Steve-O and Jackass.

I've been suffering with depression for near 30 years, and have just been having emotional meltdowns just about every day, in the past 2 weeks, due to stress from certain people. Just in the past 2 days, I broke down in a religious meeting, and just spent about 40 minutes- with short intervals in between- crying and just feeling absolutely miserable; and another emotional breakdown this morning. I have no friends, am socially awkward around people offline, have contempt and trust issues toward everyone, and just can't help seeing the world for how absolutely Sh****y it really is, and how it's only getting worse every day right before my eyes. So maybe I can get some tips on how to handle all this stress and depression I've been lugging around for all my bloody life? I've recently gotten back into religion and the person I'm studying with and have hesitantly come to trust, just keeps telling me to pray and have hope in promises made by God that he'll make things better, but it's just so hard when it feels like I'm constantly in quicksand and the stress and depression keeps kicking me around on a daily basis, year in and year out.

I'm trying to have faith, but what to do for the "in the here and now" cases? (also, how to kick the habit of emotional eating?)

You need to find something that you can do without thinking, if that makes sense. For example, I write. I have files and folders on my computer of absolute nonsensical stories and poetry. Whatever is on my mind, just kind of disappears. The easiest thing to do is to write about your OCs backstory, and make it fun and interesting, boring and dull, make them smart and orderly, or random and funny. Shape out your character, or any character for that matter, to what you want it to be. Soon you'll just have things to think of and write about on the spot.

Well if im ever depressed I lay down in my bed listen to some nice music and think.

If it's really bad I go for a walk. Just a nice long walk. Through the desert without my music. sometimes I need peace and quiet.

I play video games and try to make myself feel useful by working on a project of mine. But of course I just stay stressed out and depressed. I've lived most of my life for the past decade stressed and/or depressed to varying degrees, so...

I try to be productive with meditation and saber drills or other exercises. But if I just cant muster that I play a video game or read a book that I enjoy. One bit of advice I got is this great checklist of things to make sure you do no matter how hard it is:

Get out of bed

Drink something preferably water

Eat something preferably healthy

Get dressed at least enough to go to the mailbox

Try some exercise even if its only ten push-ups or a few jumping jacks.

If you did this much then your day was relatively healthy and that is a good point to start at moving forward.

May the Friendship be with you.

When I'm stressed I go around and clean things furiously. It keeps me busy and takes my mind off my emotions. If I'm angry I clean more vigorously until I exhaust the negativity from my system. When I'm depressed I usually go out and try to change the scenery. A new perspective can do wonders, even if it's something ordinary. Change the routine and shake things up; that's always better for the brain than staying in the same place and stewing in all those poisonous mental juices and thoughts that bring you down.

Wait...theres other states of minds besides depressed or stressed? WHAT IS THIS WITCHCRAFT? When im uber stressed out I go on facebook to troll, just cause its comically easy to and seeing 30 year old men act like 5 year old toddlers puts me in such a nice humor.

I just kind of mope around and sleep it off. It's almost impossible for me to get un-stressed, so normally if something happens early on in the morning, my entire day is ruined. Of course, if it's something serious and I don't feel better when I wake up, that's a problem.

Go for a drive, sit and stare at the world around me, or talk to my gal. She always takes my mind off stressful stuff whether I tell her I'm stressed or not. She has gotten me through a lot.
