OMG, I loved this episode so much! So many great characters were given the spotlight, there was a bit of ship teasing for Lyra and Bon Bon, Doctor Whooves and Doctor Who references, DERPY, Vinyl and Octavia are roommates...I am just so happy right now! *hugs this episode*

Pretty much this. The Lyra/BonBon Best Friends thing was left in a way that you could decide for yourself. So really no side is wrong.

I didn't see anything that hinted towards Vinyl and Octavia being a couple. However the roommate thing is now canon!

All ive got to say is that this had better not turn into another Derpy-gate thing where they start sending death threats to Hasbro over all the Butt-hurt B.S.

Lyra and Bon-Bon could be friends who like to jokingly flirt with each other a bit. They could be secret lovers, who don't want to admit it, but have a hard time hiding it. They could be space aliens talking in a secret code.

 The world may never know.

Gummy, Gummy, Gummy!

The scarf!

Oh, heck, I'm gonna go watch it again...

And about the bugbear.  Get a grip.  It was just a way to get the mane six out of the way so we could all wallow in twenty minutes of glorious silliness and background fun.

Say what you will but I adored this episode. I just finished watching it just now and it was great to see the attention being shifted to all these other characters. It really was a fan-service episode at that but I didn't mind at all. The shipping of the characters was sweet in my opinion and it just adds to another thing I really loved about this episode. At some parts it did seem a bit random and chaotic but all in all I give two thumbs up to this episode. I'm sure people maybe split on the outcome of this episode but yet again I for one loved it ;)

I thought the random and chaos throughout the episode adding to the humor. But I loved the references and the collaboration that they put into the episode with all of the characters.

Here is the subliminal image during the "crash" scene if no one has posted it yet.

Really enjoyed the episode. Probably my favorite aspect was the characterization of Derpy.

The only thing that put me off a bit though was Larson's Lyra/BonBon over-the-top "friendliness." He damn well knew he was going to cause arguments among fans.

Other than that, good stuff, and was worthy of being the 100th episode.

Everyone here seems to be using clear logic, it's just your biased opinion which makes you think that.

I don't know about everyone, but you both made several logical fallacies, and my alleged bias have nothing to do with it.

It won't. We've come a long way since Derpygate in 2012 the great Brony Crapstorms of 2013.

If it does well then I'll say the same thing I said then: People take their cartoons about colorful magical talking ponies way too seriously to a really unhealthy degree.

I liked it. If you wanna know why I don't love it, here's my review: https://mlpforums.com/blog/2437/entry-16999-slice-of-life-or-how-to-literally-jump-the-shark-after-more-than-91-episodes/

Long story short: The fan service was a bit too strong.

People can get over it... I loved that they gave Derpy the limelight and we got to see her interact with the rest. I am sure people are going to say something because why else would they make such a huge deal about Derpy in the past? It's silly how others have to complain about the smallest of things you know?

I went in kinda lukewarm on the idea that background and secondary characters can carry an episode without it devolving into a stream of memes and in-jokes. I had thought the rule of the day would have been fanservice that few others not fully immersed in the fanbase would have been able to relate to.

I must say, I went in expecting not to fully care about it, and much to my surprise, I was impressed with the way the whole episode went off. Aside from the moments of straight-up fanservice, most of which had already been spoiled, there were plenty of surprises I could not have reasonably expected, like canonizing Steven Magnet's name, actually going with the "spy" angle to satirize the common fandom joke surrounding name changes in Bon Bon's case, and Gummy's philosophical internal monologue, one of the real highlights of the episode for me purely because of how unexpected it was.

In the end, the message that tied it all together was very strong and fitting, affirming the importance of everypony and the beauty of life in Ponyville even away from the show's focus. I think it's a fine moral that they have missed multiple opportunities to tell in the past.

There's nothing really deep about it, it's just a very fine and thoroughly entertaining diversion of the norm from the show with an amazing message, and I'm fine with that.

I dunno, man.

I jokingly flirt with one of my best friends and I'm straight as an arrow.

I think insulting people for saying that the Lyra/Bon-Bon isn't canon is going out of line.

I would never insult people for sharing their opinnions,

But for that:

Like I always say, shippers see what they want to see and nothing will make them unsee it no matter how logical, so prepare for an influx of pointless overdone shipfics coming from this episode.

Please no Derpy controversy 2.0.

Perhaps it could be said that episode was terrible, but it's quite clear that there it had a very different approach than that of other episodes; it was catered to Bronies. But wow. I was expecting entire episode to end in something like everything shown was simply Spike writing some absurd story, but that did not happen; SO MANY THINGS HAVE BECOME CANON.

In any case I enjoyed episode quite a bit, safe to assume that they won't do this kind of episode again or at least for long time. Is best to not do this sort of episode often but I am happy they at least did it once; write not so serious episode for the fun of it.

@I think this may have been the most they could have gotten away with indicating couple relationship between Bonbon and Lyra without outright saying it if that's what it was; I can't remember what it was but I did see review video of another cartoon once where they resorted using "best friend" but characters could have been couple. I'm still highly skeptical of actual couple relationship(s) among mane6, but for case of Bonbon and Lyra I think depends on interpretation on what exactly they meant in dialogue; it's not canon but it's definitely not out of the question either.

Edit: O dear there is already debate about Lyra and Bonbon's relationship in this thread.

other people (mainly a majority) can cope with them just being friends.

There is nothing to "cope" with.
