When it comes to dropping considerable money on a product you will always get diehard fanboys in each camp claiming that their purchase is the best, such as Xbox vs Playstation, Apple vs Android. Its just a futile argument between people trying to validate the price they're paying for their tech that cost pennies to make.

I've got both Xbox and Playstation, have always done, i also play PC games more than anything and have had many apple products and a few android ones, i still use my iPhone and iPad.

I became an Apple fan during high school and since then have loved Apple products, I do think they are overpriced, but you do pay for what you get.

I admire apple myself, if you look at it from a business stand point - Making the public think they are justified in paying a lot for something you can get for so much less is not a small feat.

 

Everything in the business world is like that, you are attempting to make your product seem a lot more valuable than it is, android is currently a bit behind i'm afraid but a few companies like samsung, lg and sony are trying to compete with apple in penetrating the consumers but you can't argue with apple's success their product is hardly anything special at this point, not very innovative either and despite this people are paying top cash for it.

 

You could argue that its not apple's success but actually the world getting more susceptible (through internet commercial and public opinion) into being fooled to buy these products AND this may be true, but in that case Apple is still to be admired because they've correctly guessed that people will be easily swayed by these methods into buying their products instead of other cheaper products that are pretty much the same in terms of quality.

 

Regarding the question:

 

If I had to guess I'd say that the hate is pure fanboyism, people love to compare their choices to others in justifying their purchase.

 

OR

 

people who realize what apple are doing and are enraged by the fact that other folks, who are less perceptive, fell for apple's trap and therefore feel anger towards apple and just let this frustration out by insulting them, a tactic which I find baffling.

Well, their electronics are DECENT, but that's about it. They make top cheddar by selling decent tech for high price, including software which only works with other apple-software, and making their machines look pretty. In all honesty, they're a fair business, but i prefer functionality over style, personally.

I have owned an ipad for over 4 years and it has been quite useful for me and it has lasted me this long and still works, that is a positive I can give apple products, some of then at least, they can last a while. There are many negatives with Apple products though and my two biggest problems are the prices, which are just crazy and the sheer limited amount of memory for the price. A new 8gb iPod touch can run you about $200-$300 and you cannot expand that memory in any easy way, you are at the mercy of Apple for any more memory beyond that. While I got a windows phone for $60 that was 8GB AND I expanded it with a 64gb micro so card for $32 more. That still is drastically cheaper than an iPod touch, they charge such 'premium' prices when their competition provides much better values. Apple seems quite greedy.

There was so much Apple hate because the products themselves (iphone, ipad, etc...) began to degrade since Steve Jobs passed away. There was also hate from some the bronies in the MLP community due to a censorship the iTunes put out on the My Little Pony episodes where they censor out Derpy in order to "avoid controversy" from no body else than angry soccer moms.

Because they use old ideas for tech and pass them off as revolutionary, overcharge for underpowered tech, and then some people claim that "Macs don't get viruses!"

In all seriousness, though, I've tried both Android and iOS devices, and they both have their merits.  You really can do more overall with Android, and it has a lot of customization, making it good for the advanced user.  iOS, on the other hand, is more streamlined and can do its functions more easily, making it better for the casual user.  In the end, the perfect operating system would probably be in the middle somewhere.

 

Actually, come to think of it, Windows Phone is in the middle somewhere.  Unfortunately, it just doesn't get the same attention that the other two operating systems do, so I would say its weakness is lack of exposure.

I guess apple got hate because all their products are not cheap. But that's not a big deal to me. Google products sometimes expensive like the Google car or glass or that VR headset that looks like it is made by cardboard. Except that they made crashes in some system. But who cares?
