Will TwiSpike/Spilight ever become canon?

No, I doubt Spilight would work.

In the show, Twi is portrayed as a mother/sister figure to Spike. That portrayal doesn't really leave room for romance.

Plus, it's a kid's show.

I would hope not. Their relationship is more of brother-sister in my opinion, or mother-son/owner-pet. Even if they didn't have that relationship, one is an adult and the other is a baby. I'd prefer ships be absent in the show, couples like the Cakes and Shining/Cadence work, but I can't see ships working...

Nope, because if Twilight had taken spike in if a bit older she would literally be his mum... which would be creepy. As it is, they are more brother and sister... therefore, still creepy.

 

Besides. Spike is more than aware that his being a dragon would compicate things even if he didn't have family ties and age differences baring his way.

Spike is Twilight's ward, so TwiSpike would be kind of like Batman making out with Robin. Not too comfortable a sight in my mind.

 

Of course I can't cast any stones here being a Sparity supporter, but I understand everypony's point of view since there are both ships I think are cute and others that are not so much for me. But it's all good, can't say there's any ship I hate outright. It's a big multiverse so I'm sure through that portal of Celestia's there's a universe out there somewhere where Twilight is sewing her wild oats with her #1 assistant.  It's just not happening in the universe the show is taking place in.

OK, I didn't like being a pony sinking a ship, so I did some research on Twispike. While I'm certain it will never be canon on the show, there is enough adorable artwork out there that I can at least see a way for it to happen in the distant future in the universe the show is set in:

 

Basically S5 has taught us Twilight is still lousy at making friends. She treats a lack of friendship like a math problem she has to solve in order to impress her mentor. With this in mind, there is a possibility she will never ask anypony else out on a date outside her little group of friends because the social anxiety would just be too much for her. Then there's Spike - if he continues to pine away for Rarity he will likely never date anypony else while he waits for her to see him the way he sees her.

 

If both of these futures come to pass both of them will end up being unbearably lonely and then and only then is there a possibility that they end up seeking each other out to fill that void. Even then, I don't see them in a sexual relationship because there would be too many memories of Spike's upbringing that would lead to, shall we say, performance anxiety for the both of them?

 

So yeah, that's the not-so-likely-but-still-possible path that could be presented after the show ends for a limited version of Twispike to be possible in this particular universe.

Director of MLP think otherwise. For all we know, Spike may remain a baby dragon years after Rarity become too old. You can't really expect her to "wait" for Spike when he may reach maturity after 100 years or more.

I don't understand what Big Jim means by that. But I can take a guess. When he says, "Who says Dragons age the same rate as ponies?" He doesn't mean they don't still age by years, because they most likely do. He probably means that Dragons don't age look wise at the same rate as ponies. And that explains why Spike still looks really young at 13. But his voice sounds like a 13 year old. If nobody told you Spike was voiced by a girl, you would probably think he's voiced by a young boy, well until you hear Mayor Mare's voice that is.

Well, no "ships" are ever going to be canon, but if you're just asking if Spilight makes sense, I would say no, not a'tall. Can't see it one bit. And I don't accept that the only reason Spike likes Rarity is because of her mane.

Really? Are you sure? You obviously haven't seen the 100th episode then. Because DerpyxDoctor Whooves is already pretty much canon. Like when Dr. Hooves said, "How do I look?" Then Derpy replied, "Like a million bits!" And believe me, a million bits is ALOT of bits. It would take forever to get that many bits in the MLP Mobile Game. In fact, I think the only way to get a million bits in The MLP Mobile Game is to use an infinite bits hack. But anyway, basically what I'm saying is, there is a canon shipping, and it's Derpy and Doctor Whooves.

I think, honestly, that maybe, near the end of G4, Spike will tell Rarity how he truly feels about her, and she will turn him down in a nice way. Spike is heartbroken at first, but eventually accepts it. Rarity ends up with Fancy Pants, and Spike knows the mare he's truly meant to be with, the mare who is his real special somepony. Twilight Sparkle. If one of the people who works on the show is reading this, and they actually do this someday, I will be truly overjoyed. When I see that scene in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic where Twilight and Spike are sharing a passionate kiss in the Sunset, I will be screaming of excitement into my pillow.

I don't like TwiFlash mainly because of what Hasbro did with it. They made Twilight basically fangirl over Flash. She may not show it a lot, but we all know that's what she's doing. It's just like(Warning Non MLP Example) Amourshipping in the Pokemon Anime. All Serena does is fangirl over Ash, unlike Misty, who actually showed more affection towards him and Ash returned it. Anyway, back to MLP, Twilight fangirls over Flash because she thinks he's hot. She doesn't say it, but it doesn't take a genius to figure that out. I mean seriously, real girls fangirl over Flash! Twilight and Spike are like siblings, or a surrogate mother and adopted child. They've never shown any romantic inclination toward each other, and it to spark a romance between them would be ham handed. Even Spike's crush on Rarity has been downplayed ever since "Secret of My Excess."

Yeah I can say for sure Spike and Twilight will never become cannon. For one their relationship is more so Brother and sister if not mother and son. 

 

Another reason is that Spike is a baby and twilight is near 18 or is so, while spike is maybe 3-5 years old. So not only would that relationship have a sense of incest about it but it would also border pedophilia.

 

So for a show whose demographic is primarily little girls they can't go inserting these values... more so obscenities into MLP.

Why didn't Spike develop fondness for female dragons? Perhaps it could be because of very fact that he hasn't even seen one yet. Also, he has been assimilated into Equestrian culture so I think it makes sense that he would be able to develop that sort of fondness to those that live there regardless of his own species.

 

Prepare to be disappointed/not scream into your pillow with excitement then. You may not see Twilight and Spike's relationship to be similar to that of mother and son or sister and brother (I really don't see how though), but clearly vast majority of people do because that's most certainly how the writers intended their relationship to be. Maybe Rarity will eventually turn down if he ever actually asks her to be in intimate relationship, but whatever the case, I highly doubt Spike will suddenly turn to Twilight and confess his... sudden love interest to her? Where's the development anyway? Having quite a bit of history with someone does not guarantee intimate relationship.

 

Also think about it from Hasbro's perspective. Someone suggests that Spike and Twilight become a couple and passionately kiss one another. That idea is automatically denied. Why? People so many people will complain about Hasbro promoting incest and/or pedophilia. Even if Hasbro actually releases episode with such a scene and somehow passes approval (which I would doubt), it would be taking down quite quickly because of controversy that would make Derpy controversy appear very miniscule in comparison; this episode would either be removed or edited which would de-canonize Twilight and Spike's hypothetical intimate relationship.

 

TwiSpike will never be canon.

I obviously haven't?  I obviously haven't....  I'm sorry, but I just don't care for it when people make unfair assumptions such as this.  Yes, I have seen Slice of Life.  Dr. Hooves and Derpy's friendship was made canon.  There was nothing in the episode that even remotely implied that they are a romantic couple.  Asking a friend how you look and being told, "like a million bucks", is not proof of anything.  It's not even suggestive of anything.  It's about as benign and frivolous of an exchange as you can get.  But I'll also concede that there was no evidence to suggest that they're not a romantic couple.  Now, in contrast, I would say some of Lyra and Bon's Bon's exchanges were a bit suggestive and could be interperated as a romantic relationship.  But my point is that I seriously doubt that Hasbro would ever give any solid proof of a fanon ship.  They're just not going to go down that road.
