JonasDarkmane 19,785 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 Often or not, people seem to believe in something that is called karma. Basically: "the sum of a person's actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences" I would like to hear your thoughts and opinions about it. Do you believe in it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3Q0KhTWMv0 1 Signature by @Kyoshi Ask Me Matsunaga Hisahide's death https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKT5Khp3-0U

Pucksterv 4,508 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 I do believe that someone's actions can lead to something bad or good but I don't think that is always the case. I don't think there is such a thing as Karma, i think it's more a reaction on your own action that may or may not happen. I'm being a bit vague, i know but that's how I would describe it. kittenrobotarmy 38 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 No. If you do something good and something good comes out of it, that's probably because you were noticed for what you did. If karma existed, I agree our world would be a much better place.
S.F. 1,560 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 Karma is a nice concept in theory, but I've seen decent people have horrible things happen to them and people who I would perceive as the opposite keep having good things happen to them. 1 *Insert deep, intelligent and witty signature here*
rarity1 461 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 I don't believe in karma because of the good things that happen to evil people. I guess if it was real, I could beat people up just because they deserved it.

Would that count as you being evil, or would it count as you being the arm of karma? If that were the case would it give you bad, good or neutral karma? 2 *Insert deep, intelligent and witty signature here*

How to Fallout karma - nuke a town gain bad karma, then give 1000 bottles of fresh water to a homeless npc and get a karmic status near that of a god XD Back on topic though, assuming that your karma stays neutral (or gets better) if your negative action against another is their bad karma coming back to get them (for want of a better phrase), it would make it extremely difficult to know when you actually perform genuinely bad actions. But, even assuming that the above isn't the case, and karma works without involving anyone else - how would a Robin Hood character's karma work, stealing is bad (even if from the rich), but providing the stolen goods to those who need it is good, would he gain, lose or keep neutral karma? 2 *Insert deep, intelligent and witty signature here*
Concerned Bystander 2,902 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 I don't believe in karma in the Hindu reincarnation sense. However, it's axiomatic that if you behave in a positive manner towards the people around you, then those people will be more inclined to act towards you in a similar manner. Of course this doesn't prevent bad things from happening to good people or vice-versa and it doesn't provide any sort of natural justice. But all being said, being a decent human being may, in certain circumstances, tip things to your favour slightly, but even without thought of reward people should aspire to be as decent as they can be anyway.

That's another tough question. I guess he'd gain karma if it's like stealing from Mr. Tenpenny and then giving the caps to Confessor Cromwell.

Gearbox10mm 794 August 9, 2015 Share August 9, 2015 No, I don't believe in karma as in good begets good and bad begets bad. I do think things tend to happen for a reason, but that's not really the same thing as karma.
Fluster 87 August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 I don't believe in karma specifically, because I am christian, and a lot of the folks around here are getting dumber and dumber with each generation. I do believe good begets good and bad begets bad though although it may not be instant. It could take a lifetime to get your results! To you do-gooders out there who are whining about your circumstances: Man up and wait a bit! Envy 6,167 August 11, 2015 Share August 11, 2015 Actions occur in reality, thus they can have consequences. But even the worst actions won't always get consequences. There is no reason whatsoever to believe in any such supernatural force bringing about such things... Existence is neutral. Everything needs more woodwind! Dark Horse 12,961 August 11, 2015 Share August 11, 2015 Despite my usually down to earth personality and to look at things in a cause and effect way, I often find myself strangely paranoid whenever a karmic situation arises... Regardless, there are too many situations where this so called Karma doesn't do its job, and so I can't justify having any faith in it. "Always watching - Always lurking." Roughshod 719 August 11, 2015 Share August 11, 2015 Not in the supernatural ethical sense of something that determines a person's reality. There is no evidence or convincing arguments to prove that such a phenomenon occurs. I guess you could reference Newton's third law but that's only related to physical properties and has no bearing on human morality or intentions. Truthfully the concept of karma seems to me to be nothing more than a feeble attempt at consolation and a grasp for some vague idea of over-arching justice. But no such justice exists outside of human perception(barring divine powers or extraterrestrial sentience). Things happen and we react. The truth is always rough.
