Is the My Little Pony 2017 Movie gonna be a musical?

From the Synopsis: "The MY LITTLE PONY film will feature all new music with the Mane Six"

So, with these parts taken from the PR and Synopsis, it seems like the movie may be a musical. How would you feel about that? I don't know myself, I liked MMC, but I don't want any gimmicks to the big movie that's being made. Perhaps I'm reading to deeply into it and it won't be as bad as I thought, but we'll see. 

But what do you all think?

Also you should be expecting an 80 minute film ... not a 22 minute episode so the pacing issues of MMC should not be a problem. Think 'A Goofy Movie' if you want to know what I think it would end up like in terms of a musical.

I kind of imagine it like one of those old school animated disney movies, which where also musicals 90% of the time and i love most of them.

As long as it has less than 5 songs I'm totally cool with it. Too many songs kind of ruins it for me, I want some actual conversation going on.

I hope that it isn't a musical - I tend to dislike musicals. Admittedly I tend to dislike cartoons aimed at young girls, so maybe they can pull it off. A few good songs thrown in here and there will probably be fine, just so long as they don't get carried away... and as long as everything else is good. I can forgive a lot of singing if 'everything else' is good.

MMC was a little off-putting with it's musical format, but it had many factors working against it, not to mention that it was their first shot at it. Pinkie Pride was (in my opinion) a smashing success in the format. As long as Daniel Ingram gets all the coffee he needs, I'm sure it'll work out.

I predict five songs. Maybe six.

 

1) Opening Credit Song

2) First Act Happy Song

3) Villain Song

4) I Want Song/Somber Song

5) New Character Song

6) Closing Song

 

Possible that they may not have a villain song if the villain is a surprise reveal. Music appeals to a general audience of non fans which is kinda what I'm expecting to film to also target while leaving in enough nuance and references for the established fans.

It's MLP, I fully expect there to be a fair few musical numbers. They wouldn't pass up the opportunity with the talent they have on the big screen. That being said, I hope it's not the whole gimmick of the movie personally. I assumed that's what EQG was for.

Frankly, I'd be a little let down if it didn't have songs. 3, maybe 4 songs would be perfect in my opinion. But a full-blown musical, I think, would be a little much.

I love the musical episodes, Pinkie Pride in particular, but I want a good movie with more plot, conversation, etc. Don't get me wrong, there better be some good music! It's one of my favorite parts of the show

Okay I do love the songs from this show and I certainly think the movie could work well with "some songs" they just don't need to over do it with too many songs there needs to be a balance. I'd say two songs at best 3 being a maximum. If the whole movie is a musical... I'd have to watch it to say whether or not I liked it.
