I have drawn a new OC . He has glasses, his cutiemark are diamonds and rubies, glittering. He is holding a potato, fascinated by it. I don't know what to call him though . 

 

Oh and he has a bit of a beard as well

Now that you bring it up, I think that might be a funny thing to add to his character . So yes, the potato is his lil buddy . Like how Maud talks to her rock, he talks to his potato  .
