Will you ever become accustomed to Twilight's castle?

For me, the answer is no. The library wasn't just some place that we saw on occasion that was 'just Twilight's house', it was a place that was a huge part of Twilight's character and the show. Other people have said this, but I'm going to reiterate: Destroying it was like killing off one of the main characters; one that's been around for almost one-hundred episodes, no less. I understand that it's meant to represent the whole thing of "Sometimes you have to deal with changes you don't like; you just have to accept it and move on.", and I'd be more comfortable with that, if the ponies weren't capable of fixing every problem through the power of deus ex machina. Seriously, if the castle can magically sprout from a chest, then surely Twilight's tree-home could have been poofed back into existence as well. Why exactly does a princess need to have a castle, anyways? They couldn't have given her something more appealing?

It's like dropping the Tower of Sauron right into the middle of the Shire. Okay, maybe not that extreme, lol. But still, it looks out of place. Personally, I'll never accept Twilight's castle as being her home.

Anyways, I will say something positive about the castle. Stuff like this is what makes MLP great: Many other shows have zero continuity whatsoever and are just mini-dramas within a universe that never changes. MLP, despite being a kids show, is much more advanced than aforementioned shows in that there is a progressing timeline; characters can change and places can change, sometimes permanently. While I might not like the castle, I can appreciate what it represents--even if I'm not 100% cool with it.

So, what do you think? Are you alright with the castle, or no? Feel free to discuss. :)

im not 100% on board with the library being destroyed... twilight's home gone. but... what happens happens i guess... I mean... the golden oaks library was the only library in ponyville (does this mean... ponies need to head into a castle to get books now?) im actually surprised that twilight isn't freaking out too much that...(or at least talking about) basically her entire book collection was turned to ash.

Getting rid of the tree is not the same as killing Twilight off. What is Twilight Sparkle known for? She is very reasonable, studies hard, is a huge perfectionist, can go insane when things aren't right, is very geeky (etc etc). Tell me at what point does the tree effect her personality traits? The only thing it ever served as was a library, which there are plenty of in Equestria. And I don't really care about minor changes such as the tower.

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

Stuff like this happens in real life and we have to get accustomed to it. Twilight already accepted that her Library is no more and i think most bronies did to, even if some don't like it.

To accept loss is always hard. But if you can't accept that, you will never be happy in your life.

Accustomed? There's been nothing to accustom to, it's just people overreacting to change even though it could just as easily lead to good, bad or nothing at all. When the castle came about I just continued watching the show as is.

As did I. Like I said, I'm not totally comfortable with the change, but I appreciate it. It's like Fluttershy's cottage, or Sugarcube Corner, or Rarity's boutique, or Sweet Apple Acres; they're all iconic parts of the show, and if they were destroyed it would be initially upsetting, as I've grown attached to those locations. I might never think of the castle as Twilight's home; that's reserved for the Golden Oak Library--but I do accept it as part of the show, and over time it might even grow on me. ^^

When the library exploded ( IT EXPLODED, A KIDS SHOW WHERE FRIGGIN DBZ THINGS HAPPEN!) i was be like "Ohhhw noooo!"

But i thought "Hey they sure will fix this." But- they didn't.

And i still feel sad for Twi, but that is one of the things which make the show so awesome.

The consequences.

For real, man. The fact that it has a dynamic as opposed to static universe is awesome.

I'm fine with it. It's huge things like the library being destroyed that make the biggest impacts. I don't have any particular dislike for the new castle, to my eyes it's fine.

I'm not a medical expert, psychologist, psychiatrist, teacher or love doctor. Take my words with a pinch of salt, yeah?

I am an experienced cook, musician and care worker though, so that's something.

I'm quite already accustomed to it, and I'm a person who hates twilight's princess arc. Her library was destroyed in a fitting manner rather than just moving Twilight, and them putting the roots in as a chandelier is nice.

THAT BEING SAID, while I enjoy the interior, the OUTSIDE of it is terrible >.<. It just looks horribly garrish. They should have gone with a much more organic tree design, or at least one that's not so absurdly lopsided.
Hasbro toy mandates strike again pretty much, as the outside of it is transparently designed to be in a shape they can sell as a toy instead of something that's eye pleasing. The fact that the bottom of the castle is so small compared to the oversized balcony on top just looks ridiculous, and the crystal motif is something that should have been kept with the *CRYSTAL EMPIRE*.  Its not that I hate crystals-- they're one of my favorite motifs in fantasy settings. Its just you can't OVERUSE a motif, yeah? gotta keep things unique, make different areas and different groups have their own style.

Twilight's castle looks like something that Cadence would live in-- twilight's castle should have looked like an overgrown magical tree, like an upgraded form of her library, organic, brown, ALIVE basically.

Though I am a bit sad about the Golden Oak Library, I'm glad to see that the writers are making the show progress. I admit the castle design seems a bit weird to me, but overall, I'm getting used to it. Also, I liked how the destruction of the library really helped up the intensity of the battle with Tirek.

While I still prefer the old Library, I just think it matched Twilight's character much more, I'm not at all bothered about the Castle being there. It works better as a kind of "base" the Mane 6 can use while they solve their various friendship problems around Equestria, and a reasonable place where they can all be frequently when the plot requires it. Plus, I think it could make for a pretty awesome showdown location once a certain troublemaker shows her face again. :dash:

I just kinda wish it wasn't located smack dab in the middle of Ponyville. It sticks out like a sore thumb in such a humble looking village.

Though it saddens me to see Golden Oaks Library get demolished, the Castle doesn't bother me too much, even with its tacky appearance.

Since it accommodates all of the Mane 6, it would seem more accurate to refer to it as the Mane 6's Castle, with the Knights of the Round Table and all. Given the castle's vast depth and size, which the Mane 6 also comment on, it seems it can easily accommodate all of them. It just happens that everyone else still has a place to call home and Twilight's library was blown apart so the castle is her next best home.

At least from what we get in Castle Sweet Castle, the castle was made to feel at home for Twilight when it reminded her of her friendship with her friends, something it shares with the library.

I will admit though I don't like how the castle tends to give out orders to the Mane 6 like Zordon and they just blindly go on the adventures because it tells them to. But as a home and place, it serves its purpose well.

I don't see the reason why we're talking about this. Twilight got a new house. So what? I mean, know this fandom has hissy-fists over small things but this is a new low to see post THIS long on this thread, IMO.

It's like something straight of the Crystal Empire got dropped into Ponyville.

Because it's human nature to get emotionally attached to things, even if those things are fictional. If it wasn't, then media such as television, movies, games and books would be pointless; people would just say "Oh, it's fake, so it doesn't matter". The library is a location that was a big part of the show, and subsequently viewers got attached to it. If we simply felt nothing, then the writers have obviously failed in their goal, as the ultimate purpose of entertainment is to provoke an emotional response, whether it's happiness, sadness, anger, et cetera. Twilight didn't simply "Get a new house", she lost a place that had been her home since the beginning of the series, an event that should, and for many viewers did have an emotional impact. It's hard to see it go, but I understand the change and why it was necessary. I'm sorry you consider my post to be a hissy-fit and a "new low", but I've only made the post because the writers have done an excellent job of creating a show where the viewers are invested enough to care about what happens within it. :)

I'm saying it does not matter because it's not real. I say it doesn't matter because even the characters don't seem to care anymore, So why I should I care?

It doesn't affect me because I don't put much stock into the story being "ruined" or harmed by something so trivial. If the writers can still deliver a quality story without the library then I won't knock it simply because it's not the same. Take a chance, new ideas make for quality content instead of just keeping everything "the same" for the sake of not stepping on toes.

The destruction of the old home was sad, but the concept could have been used as an opportunity to address losing a home-- which they sort of did in Season 5.

However, I surprised the Castle hasn't become a full-fledged library.  I can imagine Twilight being far more distraught at the loss of books than the structure itself.  After all, Twilight is the ultimate bibliophile.
