Liiiiike...?

(Some examples would be nice)

Let's take Ratchet, he's hilarious.

I don't watch them often.

Watching someone who is watching something o_o Somehow.. weird.. xD

But Ratchet is REALLY funny, because of his reactions.. :S

Well, they are funny and sometimes the reactions are just great.

But it really depends on the person that does a commentary or react to it.

Ive seen some " Reviewers " and " Commentators " who just where completely quiet while watching and barely said anything and by one user ive noticed this very often, RarityDash, he just laughs sometimes end then ends the video without saying much...i mean i like his channel, but some times im just asking myself : " Where is the commentary? That was just an reaction!  :okiedokielokie:  "

Its just that a few commentators ive seen are more like Reactors...or more specific, i dont see the difference between a commentator and a reactor.

Sometimes reactors have even more commentary on things than commentators.

Its just useless if you call yourself commentator, if you dont even do it right.

I've only watched a few of Ratchet's videos, I found his reactions quite funny and his commentary was good. I've also seen some reaction videos where the person sits there, looking at the screen without any emotions or interest.

Another thing I don't really get is why some react to videos that don't really warrant much of a reaction, or why some put facecams over a game that...well, doesn't warrant a reaction. *shrug* I get it for horror games, and maybe even "unfair" or "rage" games, but not so much for everything else. :P

So I've been watching a lot of blind commentaries for my little pony friendships and magic lately and I was just wondering what you guys opinions on them are

If you ask what about my opinion on blind commenters in general (which I presume, since you didn't mentioned any particular), then here it is:

I like to watch blind reactions and blind commentaries because I like to see how people react for something when they see it for the first time and what are their first impressions, because first impressions are genuine, one can have them only once.

I like to compare them, because different people have different reactions, and I'm always curious why do they react differently to the same thing, because this tells us something about themselves, their value systems, beliefs, preferences, character etc. Eg by watching how someone reacts to "Tanks For The Memories" episode I can see one's level of empathy and whether they assumed external or internal point of view regarding Rainbow Dash. It's interesting from the psychological point of view.

It is also fun. I don't like to watch movies or cartoons alone, because then I'm alone with my own emotions and there is no one to share them with. The best thing is to watch with someone else. But it is not always possible, so watching someone else's reaction is the second best fallback option, because then I can see his emotions and enjoy it, either if they don't see my emotions. It's almost like watching it with someone else.

There's one more thing though: When watching someone else's reaction, I can look at something through his eyes, from his perspective, which may be different from mine. They could notice what I missed, or see something in a different light than me, so I can get more complete image of the episode, learn something new which I couldn't learn alone etc. Here the difference between blind reaction and blind commentary is the most evident: the commentary gives more insight into someone else's mind, allows me to get ideas I didn't have myself, and if they're good, I can incorporate them into my own belief system to be a better person. I can learn from other people's observations which I couldn't have myself due to a different set of perceptional filters. Blind reaction is all about emotions, and blind commentary is about thoughts.

Here are some blind reactors & commenters I follow:

Alex Side, Ponyville Ranger, Ratchetness, JohnnyFireFlame, BlueStarBrony, PieDislakerSwag, TheFlamingShark, The Silicon Brony, LaDix, ReactionsAreMagic, PonyWatch, BerlinBronyANdy, darkoak card-trudy, Alex Jones (not the conspiracy guy), Ponyvillechaos577, VoltWing Gaming, Juu50x, Stormlight, Equestria's Reflection, Zangor warrior, Luffyiscool, Bronymonster044, NostalgicBrony, Kyra Draws, RyanReacts newfrickinshow, The Secret Dreamer.

I also don't like it when someone just stares at the screen emotionless. It's not really a reaction then, and such people have certainly missed the point of what a reaction is.

I like reactions where they take the time to write jokes and record them properly and put effort into them, instead of just shouting at the screen and having awkward silences.

I like that too (vide "Bronies React"). But this is a different kind of reactions: they're not blind reactions, just reaction or commentary.

Blind commentaries seem boring to me because they are unplanned. It's hard for the commentator to make jokes or interesting observations on the fly.

I know it's not a blind commentary, but I love Bronies React.

I like them (so long as the reactions aren't overreacted) seeing natural first time reactions are way better than exaggerated ones from people who've seen it before... I feel the same when it comes to blind lets play commentary as well...

  • 3 months later...

A lot of "reaction" channels are just people staring at a video giving some emotion once and a while but that's it.

I don't really stand by it.

If people comment on what happens during its run time (Bronies React) then it's fine. But when you're basically not adding any value to the video, then no.

I think blind reactions are fine as long they are made to animations, movies, music video, ect.

But when someone makes a reaction video to a reaction video it is just stupid. '-'

I don't see anything wrong with blind commentaries as a medium. Sometimes it could be interesting to see someone's initial reaction to a game or show.

Especially if they start complaining about the game not explaining the broken ration mechanics.

Geeze, that exists? That's it, officially the internet ran out of ideas. I'm done.

Unfortunately, yes. I do not know why or who would watch something like that but it does exist.

I very rarely watch videos like that, but when I do they're often okay to watch. Sometimes I smile in agreement, other times I shake my head in disbelief at certain reactions...overall, though, I like the concept of blind commentaries, especially when people call something early in the episode and have it confirmed later. I can totally relate to the smugness exhibited at those moments because I'm exactly the same.

I watch lot of blind commentaries actually.

I like to see how people reacts to something I have watched and compare it to my reaction when I saw it first time.

I even watch reactions to reactions.

I personally don't see a point to them. To me they are in the same category as those reaction videos and I have really don't see a purpose in them. Maybe blind commentaries can actually have some interesting commentary to them but it just doesn't appeal to me.
