web Is this a hurtful documentary?

I was just on youtube browsing videos while waiting for my hard drive to transfer some files and came across this documentary:

A Common Person's Guide To Bronies:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4ylcMJOPBY

Has anyone else watched it? Am I alone in feeling a little bit hurt by this? It seems like there is an overwhelming bias that paints bronies as being sexually deviant, socially awkward/inept, and bad in general. It really flies in the face of everything I know about the show and the fanbase. I genuinely felt attacked by this and it scares me to think that THIS is what people think of when they hear the word "Brony".

I would really love some feedback on this, because it really upset me. :'(

Alpha Hedge and  GuyNamedEarl,

I'm sorry, but I just can't accept the idea that people hate bronies. I'd like to think the best of everybody, or at least most people. And if people dislike bronies I feel like it is the result of misunderstanding what we are all about. It may be a long, on-going process, but I feel like making the world aware of what being a brony really means is a cause worth fighting for. Even if people don't ever really "get it", I'd like to think we can at least promote tolerance, respect and acceptance.

Also, my apologies Cynical. I am still trying to find my way around in the forums and figure out where certain points of discussion belong.

EVBP,

I'm sorry, but you need to except it. People will hate us. There's no "mis-understanding", it's just people don't like the show, they don't like us. End of story. Tolerance and acceptance shouldn't be promoted like "HEY YOU TOLERATE PEOPLE OR DIE". Not everyone can accept us or tolerate us. People are different.

Well, I'm not a brony, but I can definitely say if you are personally offended by this "documentary" then this person's goal was accomplished.

That's going to have to be your problem. People are going to hate other people for any and all reasons imaginable.

Incorrect. People can dislike bronies for legitimate reasons. It's thinking that it's impossible for someone to dislike bronies for any reason that is legitimate which makes people dislike them more.

People are entitled to their thoughts and opinions no matter how wrong or rude they me be. All you can do is take time to think and disprove with concrete facts or just say nothing. Eventually their opinions will be their downfall.

I should also add that I have not seen the documentary yet as I currently don't have time.

Currently watching the documentary, the guy doing the interviews is being fairly objective towards it. A lot of these guys openly state they have significant others, an active dating life, jobs and do not expect to meet women at brony conventions. So far it seems as though about 10 minutes in he's trying to be objective.

Farther in now, still seems fairly objective to me...

Edit: Near the end at the rave party he starts to be a littttttle subjective in that he tries to make the rave party sound bad, but throughout most of the video he is basically trying to keep it objective and not just purposely gaming the questions to make them look worse.

The issue I see with this "Documentary" is that he tries to stay on the neutral side like all Documentaries should but a good bit of bias shows through-out the video. He does, however, show quite a bit of valid points with how much the people who involve themselves in the show sexualize the ponies. I am not saying everyone does but a very large percentage is there and honestly there is no issue with that considering almost all fandoms' do the same thing. I do believe the reason why it's such a taboo thing is because it is so widespread and known through the internet and the fact that the idea of the show was originally targeting a younger audience of the opposite gender than the one that currently resides.

TL;DR The Documentary has a mix of bias and valid points, no one is gonna be happy but he did cause a reaction out of people.

A couple days later I guess I did take offense pretty quickly. But skimming it a second time, I guess it's not that negative. I can be a little overly sensitive at times (Fluttershy is tougher than me!). And I guess as an adult I can realistically accept that some people are going to be haters. While I don't have to like it, I do have to accept it.
