I highly doubt their group name will change, I think they'll still be the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Of course, instead of searching for their cutie marks, they'll be like the little rescue heroes of their town.

They got a pretty shitty talent. The main purpose of cutie mark is to discover it by themselves like everyone does. They're talent is useless unless they will act as counselors to people that already got their cutie marks, but just use them in a wrong way. Like Troubleshoes or Diamond Tiara.

I disagree. I think helping other ponies realize their destinies is one of the greatest destinies of all, and their purpose is twofold: to help fillies, and colts (let's not be sexist here, Crusaders) find their cutie mark, and to help those who have cutie marks interpret them. I think a cutie mark is deeper than just a job or a talent. It's a pony's destiny. In a capitalist, neoliberal society, we have come to think of a job as synonymous with one's destiny, but I think that's a very narrow view, though it is definitely one that the capitalist system thrives on. Likewise, I don't think being really good at something is sufficient to call it one's destiny either or else my destiny would be to spend my life playing JRPGs and occasionally helping others beat them.

 

I think the fallacy of misinterpreting cutie marks comes into play because ponies stumble across their destiny without realizing it, or not realizing what it truly means. Troubleshoes got his cutie mark IMHO, because he was where he was meant to be though he didn't realize what his role in the rodeo was meant to be. Diamond Tiara realized she was meant to be a leader but what she didn't know was how she could use her affluence and influence in a way that was meaningful to not only others, but her as well. I think she got her cutie mark because she at least came to the realization that leading was her destiny. It seems that ponies don't have to fully realize their destiny to stumble across it, and cutie marks are essentially abstract symbols that don't come with instruction manuals.

 

I actually think that in Equestria one's destiny is also the way in which one can enrich the lives of others, but that's just my headcanon. Still, if true, then cutie marks show ponies how they can make Equestria a better place in addition to finding meaning in their lives, and helping others reach that goal is a noble cause indeed. And yes, as per the title of this thread, I think the CMCs should still be called the Cutie Mark Crusaders because they will still be crusading for cutie marks, just not their own anymore. Plus, their symbols are shields in the vein of the crusades, for fans who also know some history, though in this case their meaning is secular.
