Them's Fightin' Herds

I get that, but less than 10% of all computer users these days are using Mac and Linux, and less than half will probably get this game. It just seems like it's not worth the effort.

Overall it may not be worth the effort, but Mac users like myself are grateful that they are keeping us in mind. :)

In theory though couldn't you just dual boot Windows and play the game?

I mean it seems pointless to go through the extra effort FIRST is all. Like I am not against the ports, but I feel that the things that will affect MORE people should be done FIRST rather than something that will affect very few?

For my Macbook Pro, no. It can't barely handle games like Witcher 1 and Bastion and with me needing to closely manage harddrive space I doubt double-booting would be that beneficial to me.

Plus I've been skeptical about paying for brand new Windos software considering compatibility issues with older games & all.

I suppose though if your computer has that much issues running games it wouldn't probably be able to run Them's Fightin' Herds to begin with don't you think?

I wish they just would have put a 7th character as a higher priority is all.

That's my fear, but at the same time I like that I would have an easier time trying it out if there is a straight-up Mac port in the first place and not have to invest in Windows software just for gaming (if I do invest in Windows it's in a separate gaming PC/laptop).

I get what you mean, but it's preferences and priorities at this point which are subjective. I can live without the extra character if it means the ones in the game are quality.

I'll probably at least try out the game when it's released (as I said in my latest video), but I am not really holding onto to hopes that this will be the next "big gotta have it game".

I don't hold those hopes myself; I'll just accept it as the Indie game that succeeded. I think it will be fun at least and it feels nice to have contributed to that, but I don't expect it to be a world-breaker. :)

I think this is a really interesting game and I actually hope it can get its own storyline, maybe some lore comics?

Also, Hasbro isn't some evil corporation, in fact, I doubt it really cared about Fighting is Magic. But those trademark laws are "use it or lose it" and they HAD to defend their trademark.

Stampede will continue! Ayyyyye!

I cannot believe how generous everybody were. Third stretch goal reached. Wow.

Now this game is a thing, let's just wait to see how well they can make this game. I'm confident.

Again, wow. That was fast.

I upped my contribution to $55.  I'm looking forward to what they can do with it since the game is now fully funded with all four of the initial stretch goals met.  Good times ahead!  :P

Well here is hoping they do well now.

They have all the money they need to get console releases, more characters and the works. So now the entire game's quality will rest upon their abilities to deliver.

And now we must wait.

All i can say is that i hope the gameplay is good, because if it isn't, it dosen't matter how good the lore of characters are, or how good the game looks, or whatever. If the game dosen't play good, it's not worth buying.

Still, all the best to Mane6.

This also means that if the game DOESN'T do well I want no excuses. They had more than enough money. So if it flops it'll be because the Mane 6 suck at making games and nothing less.

Anything is possible; it just feels good to have contributed and to see the campaign succeed as such. I just hope people's expectations aren't TOO high and that the game is at least fun. :)

Also, best deer. <3

Looks great! Wish I could've backed that project, but I'm glad they reached their goal. I'm certainly going to play it, and although it does look like just another fighting game, I have a feeling it will be great! I love the animation and the characters, very slick, very nice! :) Can't wait. I'll most certainly give it a go.

This game is going to flop. The only reason anyone is even slightly interested in this game is because of the fact that this is the closest to fighting is magic that we are going to get.

To be a commercial flop it would have to lose money, and since the game has been financed by the community to the tune of 135% of the base goal, I think it's actually impossible for it to flop.  But if you mean that nobody will play it once it's released, well, I'm sure the backers will play it for a while.  Having a game to play with OVER 9000 other bronies sounds pretty good to me, and that's assuming that not a single person picks it up on steam post release.

I'm super bummed that Fighting is Magic won't have an official release, but I was willing to give Mane6 a chance so that we can have an unofficial game that the whole pony fandom can enjoy together.

That is actually 100% incorrect. Being a flop can also mean that the game does not sell that much at all. Remember, Mane6 is not supposed to pocket that money so effectively just because the game is financed, they have effectively made NO profit thus far. So it can still very much flop.

Which are the people they should be the least concerned about. Backers are already promised a free copy of the game. They are not new sales.

It seems to me like they are quite happy just to have the funding to make the game.  It's like a huge commission work.  They all have jobs for the next 18 months getting to do what they love.  They will also get some great experience and have one heck of a big project for their portfolio should they try to find work in the industry after this game.  In any case, Mane6 is doing just fine right now.  :D  I'm sure the game will be a lot of fun so long as everpony keeps her or his expectations reasonable for an indy game.  :P

It doesn't mean it can't go south. They now are obligated to produce a game, so if they fall through, they will be if a far worse place. Kickstarters have flopped after getting funded and there was huge backlashes.

So don't assume that they are all fine and good until they start showing that they are producing the product.

What I also find stupid is that because the game is crowdfunded Mane6 effectively just screwed over every single one of you that donated. If this game now sells and generates millions, none of you are entitled to a cut of the profits like a publisher who funds a game would be.

Do you have anything positive to say about the project, Key?  :rarity:

I already did, but people seem to be turning a blind eye to the big problems here. Sometimes taking off the fan goggles and looking at things from a different viewpoint is helpful. I'm sorry if I am coming off as "negative", but I am not going to just say "oh yeah it's all 100% good fine and dandy!" when I see huge jarring problems even if they are unpopular observations. I could have sworn this community built itself on tolerance, but it seems that is only true when the opinions expressed are the popular ones.

I'm sorry if I feel that if I basically do what the publisher does for a developer that I deserve to get a cut of the millions that publishers make.
