It's hard to make that assumption since all of Equestria (from what I've seen) does not use technology.  As far as using magic, that could be up for discussion.  But then again, all of Pinkie's family that we've seen is made up of Earth ponies.  However that is also true for Applejack's family.  Maybe it's a correlation of working on a farm and being an Earth pony?

I don't really know if Pinkies parents are Amish or not.  They might be, if Equestria has any kind of religion and different establishment of what makes Amish ponies Amish.

I have no idea. They could be an Equestrian Stand-in for the Amish but it's hard to tell if Amish-type ponies exist in a world with Schizophrenic Technology! Really, this a world that has Video Games, CRT Monitors, Steam Engines, sewing machines, helicopters (at 1 Horsepower) and hydro-electric dams and yet they have knights in armor and spears, washboards for the (very limited) wardrobe they have, quills and inkwells, stage-coaches and houses that are lit by candles. How the hell can you tell when things switch from very primitive to modern tech on the fly?

actually technology is used and is highly advanced as in one episode we see a earth pony called dr whooves create a time machine without magic. also tractors and cars are in use by certain ponies. id say that technology is probably used by rich earth ponies mostly which is why you don't see it in the shows much.

Where have you seen tractors and cars in the show?

Nope. They spoke in 16th century english. Shakespearean english to be exact, old english.

Although they look like they belong to the 19th century with the way they traditionally are. But ponies are adorable. :pinkie:

They come across as Amish but as I recall, they were delighted when Pinkie set up the party in the barn (I think it was in the barn anyway) and I suspect real Amish people would have been more disapproving of all the decorations, etc.  But then, this is a show aimed at children and maybe the writers just didn't want to get into that.

That was probably what they were going for, but I personally like to see them as the Pony version of Quakers minus the Christianity. They desire simplicity, but are tolerant and believe in being your true self. They would have been more tolerant of Pinkie and Maud leaving the farm permanently than the Amish.

No, I think they are supposed to represent a beyond traditional off the land type of conservative like life style, but to have a specific faith centered by any pony in the show, I believe would to be to risky, its more of an insinuation, but no, I dont believe they have a specific religious character theme..
