AEDAZ 176 January 8, 2016 Share January 8, 2016 I didn't until recently. I don't get any of the sensations associated with it, but it just calms me down and helps me sleep. Call me simple minded, but I kinda just like listening to the soft voice of a pretty female when I'm falling asleep.... I was just curious if anyone else here was really in to it. What reasons do you watch it, and do you actually feel anything from it? Here's a favorite of mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC5ISZjBjrk I stopped watching the show a while ago... cuteycindyhoney 13,322 January 8, 2016 Share January 8, 2016 I was wondering what ASMR was, so I googled it. To my surprise it described something I'm very familiar with. I always thought it was just me. 1 Thank you Sparklefan1234!!!
North 288 January 8, 2016 Share January 8, 2016 I'm pretty familiar with ASMR. I use it almost every night to go to sleep. It really helps. Honestly. All I do is load up an ASMR YouTube video, put on my earbuds and eye mask, and lie down. Within a few minutes, I'm out. ASMR is a tried and true method of going to sleep or relaxing for me. And yes. I like ASMR.
cuteycindyhoney 13,322 January 8, 2016 Share January 8, 2016 I had no idea this actually had a name. I am going to read up on it more. It's not only audio that triggers it with me. A light touch (NOT tickling or anything sexual) will give me the scalp tingling feeling noted in the definition I found online. Soft talking and gentle praise will get me all relaxed and feeling warm. I never tried it as a sleep method, but with me it would only be a short step into dreamland. I can even trigger the feelings sometimes myself, by concentrating on the memory of things that cause it for me. Now that I sound weird, it's off to bed with me. 1 Thank you Sparklefan1234!!! Hovershy 3,815 January 8, 2016 Share January 8, 2016 I love ASMR. I listen to it almost every night before I go to sleep. I was so happy when I found out it was an actual thing, for so long I just thought I was a weirdo. KatonRyu 1,033 January 8, 2016 Share January 8, 2016 I had no idea what it was, so I looked it up. It's...not for me. I hate the sound of whispering, and the non-vocal videos I found did absolutely nothing for me. So, in conclusion: no, I don't like ASMR.
Spanish In Physician 295 January 9, 2016 Share January 9, 2016 I do and don't like it. The kissing and licking sounds.... They annoyed the crap out of me, as it sounded a lot like popping and water dripping. Now.... There was one thing..... It.... set me off. I was listening in, and she blew into the mic. Just over my right ear.The sound reverberated in my ear and shot me with a sharp, but nearly maddeningly pleasurable sensation. Instantly, I had to find one mostly of ear blowing. It.... Soothes me in a way only my closest companions know how, to my now flawed knowledge. Mother of god..... I was completely relaxed..... Bastian 13,321 June 4, 2020 Share June 4, 2020 I never used it so I don't know what to say, I guess it's not for me but I can't really say I don't like it if I never tried it.
Thuja 3,663 June 4, 2020 Share June 4, 2020 I don't like it, it makes me cringe and makes me feel incredibly uncomfortable. For me, it's like nails on the chalkboard uncomfortable.
ExplosionMare 18,105 June 4, 2020 Share June 4, 2020 No, it’s very annoying. Plus my friend that I used to listen to it with always has the worst luck cause her side of the headphones always seems to have more noise than mine 2 Boom!
Early Sunsets 2,108 June 4, 2020 Share June 4, 2020 (edited) ASMR actually has the opposite effect on me. It's annoying, and even kind of disgusting, depending on what it is. DixonTheAdversary 1,634 June 6, 2020 Share June 6, 2020 No, I don't like ASMR. I don't really understand it. Sure, some people use it to sleep, but I'm the kind of person that needs it to be pretty much silent to be able to sleep.

Pentium100 2,253 June 23, 2020 Share June 23, 2020 I do not like ASMR - the "whispering" type is just annoying, the others are boring. I'd rather listen to some podcast or music when doing something instead of the ASMR videos. Maybe I would feel something if I managed to stand listening to that for longer than a few seconds. Nah, I just stop the "ASMR" and put on some good tape or an informative podcast.

PinkieSpy 67 June 23, 2020 Share June 23, 2020 I like the electric ASMR with the vibrating buzzing noises and crackling and hair clipper sounds, gives me all the tingles. But not a fan of the whispering kissing licking stuff.
Rainbow Dash 1,472 June 23, 2020 Share June 23, 2020 I remember back in 2013 finding out about a few people doing Mukbang videos and random scratching noises as white noise. Suddenly it blew up into a whole community. I used to be deep in with the community once i got the equipment. ASMR is good for me when i need to focus or sleep. Its not good for anyone who wants to start a twitch channel though. My content got stolen which left me sour so i left the community. R.I.P. Jesse Terrence 2,969 June 23, 2020 Share June 23, 2020 (edited) That definition looks about right. Personally, would rather not try it. That kind of sounds make me anxious. Edited June 23, 2020 by Jesse Terrence
Astralshy 28,223 April 17 Share April 17 Ive tried it a couple of times. It's interesting, but honestly it doesn't do much for me. What I can relax with is ambient music or noises, white noise in particular (like rain, thunderstorm sounds).
Starlight Serenade 3,843 April 17 Share April 17 I have watched and listened to ASMR videos for around 13 years now, I think? I recall having a decade's worth of ASMR videos in a YouTube playlist, but it kept crashing! I typically enjoyed massage and ambient music/noise videos. There are some soft spoken ones that are good, but not those exaggerated whispering and tapping ones. There's something for everyone in the ASMR community, it's pretty diverse and vast.
RafaStaryStory 3,876 April 17 Share April 17 (edited) Never, it's one of the weirdest kind of content out there for me Edited April 17 by RafaStaryStory 1 1 "Stand quiet like the Sky, and Move faster than Lightning" Follower of the ultimate power, spirit, divine dreams and wishes of the Heavenly Eastern Angels of Stars (Starys), Husband of Mary, The Eastern Stary. Dreambiscuit 10,563 April 22 Share April 22 Honestly it does nothing for me. I don’t see what the big deal is; it’s just acute recording of various sounds, and none of them relaxing, arousing or even vaguely interesting. Nothing to work with there. 1
Cash In 22,722 April 22 Share April 22 I've warmed up to asmr in the last three or so years and often find myself listening to it before bed. Granted, there are a lot of different types/niches with that content and I only find a select few relaxing. 1 At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.
