what if brony's got their own nation?

Recommended Posts

What do you think it would look like?: Look like could be interpreted as many things. The first thing that comes to my mind is, what does an everyday life in this "Bronydom" look like? The first and most obvious thing would be a common practice among everybody to watch Mlp. It may not be everyday that people watch the show, but the new episode would be as popular as the Superbowl is in America, but with a smaller population. Another thing that must be said is, where would this nation be? Where in the world would there be a nation that would be dedicated to the corporate overlords of Hasbro? It would have to be in some nice area that would be able to be separate from every other nation but still have nice and easy access to internet and TV. Maybe it would be some country that, is today, not very populated but has a lot of land.

Who would be the leader, or would it be a democracy?: Oh goodness. Well this seems like it could fall into two very distinct scenarios which would depend on the residents of this country. One side would lead to the country ruled by Hasbro. Hasbro would be able to see this new country as a chance to spike sales in an easy-to-target country and it would seem extremely easy for the company that gives us the thing that runs our country to take over, as people would easily give in. I fear the day a country is ran by a company though. The other hand would probably fall into a type of government easily comparable to Communism, but much less corruptible. This country would run with the full ideology of "Friendship is the best solution" and as such, a large government would be easy to see. The country would not deal out harsh punishment and would be easy to give forgiveness and second chances to the residents. Crimes would be fairly low as the residents would be influenced by friendship. The only real worry about this government would be for a person who is not at all interested in Mlp and friendship to seek an easy control over the land and throw the entire system on itself.

Which language would we speak?: This one doesn't seem to need much thought. Of course, English would be the primary language as it is most spoken of bronies, but in an interesting twist, this country would contain a lot of other languages as there are many bronies around the world who do not speak English. English would also be primary as the English-speaking episodes are always first to release before any other dubbed language. This would encourage other speaking people to pick up and learn the heavy speaking language.

what would be the national anthem?: The national anthem would probably be super cheesy, lets be honest. With an ideology of friendship, never before seen by any other country, it's got to be something that would need a lot of thought and time put into it for it not to be cringe-worthy. It obviously wouldn't be the theme to Mlp as that would fall under copyright infringement, and something similar would only just pain people. This is a hard one that I can't really speculate on.

Would you want to live there?: Would I want to live in a country ran solely on friendship and seeking the best in each other? Heck yeah! Would this kingdom be up to my standards? I don't exactly know my answer to that. If this country was in good relations with it's neighboring countries, I think it would be pretty alright to live in. If not, then I can't say I'd want to.

Meh... not to keen on the idea in my honest opinion. While I think it would be cool if we lived in a place where everyone knew FIM like the back of their hand, that would take away what makes us so special. People think Bronies are unique because we break the traditional gender norms that have been ingrained in our heads since childhood.

Besides, we already have many Brony nations that come and go in the span of a weekend. Their called conventions :pinkie:.

Dude, do you have ANY idea how many "best pony" civil wars would be fought?

I can imagine these fanclubs just running around town posting pictures of their favorite pony than another fanclub waging war with them by posting over those pictures of their favorite ponies and just a lot of petty squabbling going on.

That would be so cool to watch.

I can ensure you, just because we would get a bunch of people who like a show about peace and friendship together would not automatically make it a place with no hate. I cant imagine things turning out well. But I guess I'm clearly being the stick in the mud here, haha.

It wouldn't be much different to Israel, which came out of Zionism (the idea that Jews should have their own state).

Given that there is a culture in this fandom, beyond what we think of the show, I don't think forming a union would be as difficult as you might think. There would be language barriers initially though.

It wouldn't be much different to Israel,

Except for the small details such as the fact that bronies doesn't have a common culture, language or history. Nor would we have any land that used to belong to us.

this is thinking after a century or so of it being a fully developed and stable nation btw

A new religion would control the land

A new religion honoring the sun an moon, almost worshiping them because of Luna and Celestia an stuff. You would follow the elements of harmony like commandments. Praying to the sun at dawn and the moon at night would be a common thing

architecture and building design would change to a more Old Medieval Look

This wouldn't mean its old however, the looks of buildings and such would be made to look older while still being modern, this would be because of the style of ponyville. Of course normal moder cities and towns would exist because manehattan and balitmare look like regular cities today.

The set government would be designed like America (corrupt yet loved)but would enforce the elements of harmony in a very detailed manner

new fighting styles would emerge

of course with culture comes new things, and every nation has had its own unique style of hand to hand combat

the nation would divide itself into 5 Clans

this is for the more common types of fans, the different types would group together and the leader would rule in an emperor or empress fashion

Fanatics

these fans are obsessed with the show and constrict their lifestyle to how it is in the show with no exceptions, those who break the rule are generally buried to the chest and stoned to death.

Casuals

those who love and enjoy the show, they buy merch form other countries and are generally normal people.

aggressors

these men and women become extremely aggressive and violent about their opinions and will harm others if argued

producers

men and women who create merchandise and items and what not with ease, the level of expertise in the craftsman's ship is what makes this nation unique (aside being a nation centralized around a kids show, AND WTF HASBRO WOULD BE SET FOR LIFE)

channers

/mlp/ materialized and had next to no authority, this Clan is a wasteland filled with bandits and lawlessness, it would be a more future concept of design as they do steal all sorts of tech from any they please, the government basically said don't cross borders into other clans and the just walked away and never said anything again

Episodes are not necessarily released in English first. That may just be your assumption based on your location or surrounding. It's often the case, especially the further away from America you go, but it doesn't have to be. I'm not sure about Spanish, but the Legend of Korra is supposedly first produced in Spanish, which is why the leaked episodes were Spanish. Cheaper in Mexico, I guess?

And I'd rather prefer MLP in my own language than in English for a lot of reasons including political. While its an American/Canadian show with clear American influence (southern accents), its just not comparable to me. I'd only prefer English if the dubs are really bad.

Also, the Russian-speaking brony community is huge. If anything, English and Russian would be co-official. It's strange, as animé never caught on in Eastern Europe/Russian-speaking zones at all, yet furry/pony caught on relatively the same time as it did in the West.

The Nation would be corrupt in a matter of days, we would be too busy discussing MLP than the important things like trade, healthcare, education, etc.

Also we would also be the most bothered Country in terms of stereotypes.

Neither do Jews; they have been all over the place for thousands of years.

I agree that Bronies must share a common language to survive as a nation.

No land belongs to anyone. It has always been taken.

having a nation of bronies would be great. an till war then the nation of "equestria" would be split into the "celestial empire" and the "lunar republic" but before that happens a great group of scientists would create a formula to turn you into pastel ponies.

Well, Jews have Hebrew. They share laws and traditions with each other, if that's not culture then what is? And they have a common history. Also they do have land that belonged to them historically, it's called Judea.

Yes, they have culture, but Hebrew was dormant for centuries (except in literature), and it has only been in the 20th century that it has become widely spoken within that community. It certainly isn't the only language Jews have used amongst themselves.

They don't have a common history, they have occupied many cities all over the world. The historical relevance of 'Judea' does not make it their land de jure.

@Gestum, @Paianni, for what it's worth, the word Hebrew comes from habiru, which translates to roughly "men without a master" or "to cross over" (as in, without minding boundaries or borders). Indeed, until the Hebrews settled in the region of Israel, they were considered nomadic peoples who didn't fall within the strict social parameters of settled societies. The Jewish diaspora and exiles have caused this notion to resurface, for better or for worse, long after the Hebrews identified Israel as their homeland.

As for bronies having a country -- other than a common interest in MLP, similarities and differences would revolve around more immediate issues. I don't see how such a "brony country" would exist in any serious form, or how it would be so radically different (in a meaningful way) from other countries. Bronies are otherwise going to be defined by their milieu, which isn't exclusive to watching MLP.

We had one, it was called Acre. But because of it's Dinnosaurs and Illuminatti it was teminated. Purging all the research on turning Jonh De LAncie into a Chaos Spirit and the creation of magical ponies with it

Wait, are you talking about Mlp episodes. I might have been under the assumption of English first, but if other languages receive the episode at the same time, than my language point may be all off.

I like the idea of "co-official" languages. If that was the case, the dominant language would have to depend on what language is most common in the community, which I honestly don't know.

It would be a nation that would start out in harmony but would soon be torn apart by wars over best pony and allegiances.

I don't think it would be much else. I really don't know what kind of political system would work as while bronies love MLP, we still have very different opinions on many subjects.

Wow. This question sure is out there!

As for my opinion, it's entirely impractical. It would be silly to form a country comprising of citizens that all like a certain TV show. This raises another question: after citizens get married and have kids, would the kids get deported if they decide they don't care for MLP?

I doubt that there are talented economists, politics, scientists and other required people to create a nation. Plus, if you'll even try to ask for a piece of land from UN... well, I don't think you'd like the outcome. And that little unclaimed part of Antarctide is too cold. So, maybe buy an island? Got any spare million-another?
