What the heck is the appeal in Trixie?

1. She is only in 1 episode.

2. She is a liar, a boaster and a jerk overall.

3. And most of all she attacked any of the Mane 6 who stepped up to show there productive skills.

1. Derpy was a BG pony and she got krap loads of love. Just appearing in one episode doesn't mean we shouldn't love her.

2. As others have pointed out, she's a showmare. It's kind of her job to boast her skills on-stage, and the lie about defeating the Ursa Major was a story to entertaint he crowd. I mean, come on, LOTS of good stroies are fictional. If she were to tell them the amazing feats of her trips to Pony-Mart, I doubt that'd draw as big a crowd.

Also, just wanna point out, RD, AJ, and Rarity give Trixie such a hard time for being a boaster and for lying.

RD - Biggest boaster in Ponyville. Just look at the Mare-do-Well episode. She was pretty much doing what Trixie did in that ep.

AJ - A bit more modest, but still likes to boast and show off her skills (like in the episode where she was competeing with RD).

Rarity - Sweet and Elite. Need I say more?

3. She was giving out a free show, and a bunch of random ponies in the crowd were heckling her. If I were Trixie, I'd be pretty mad too. However, she actually handled it pretty well. She kept her stage persona and challenged them to prove she wasn't the greatest. They accepted her challenge and she beat them fair and square (and the audiance seemed to like it).

What she did to Rarity was a bit over the top, but then when you consider that her show was being constantly interrupted by these hecklers, she was probably just taking out her anger on her, whilst also trying to effectivly silence any other neigh-sayers at the same time.

So all-in-all, Trixie was actually the victim of that episode, not the Mane 6. I support Trixie 'cause she's an interesting character. She's skilled with magic, and she has a lot of potential to be a good recurring cast member. She's adorable, she's confident, and I can imagine she'd actually get along well with Twilight if they met again.

I also feel sorry for her losing everything she had in that one night, and being left all alone, when she's done nothing to deserve such a fate. Hopefully she has friends elsewhere in Equestria that were willing to help her out.

The Adorable One-Trick Pony

What the heck is the appeal in Trixie?

post-2150-0-64216700-1341401534.jpg

For my part, I tend to have a fondness for blustery characters who act large in an effort to conceal their weaknesses. It's a trait shared by Diamond Tiara and, to a slightly less obnoxious extent, Rainbow Dash. There's a kind of courage needed to grandstand despite knowing oneself isn't really "all that".

As others have already mentioned, Trixie was content to peacefully perform her act without hassling anyone. Sure, she was boasting, but that's part of the act. The Mane Six were the ones who instigated trouble and disrupted her show, notably Rainbow who flat-out booed her and got all up in her face onstage (immediately after being chastised by her friends for saying she was better than the rest of them).

post-2150-0-58053600-1341401553.jpg

Trixie didn't start the contest, she simply accepted the challenge rather than back down from Rainbow's bullying. Well, okay, she did end up throwing quite a lot of insults and taunts around herself, but that was after being heckled and thoroughly provoked in the first place.

And the entire time Trixie was humiliating the Mane Six with her shenanigans (and ruthlessly overdoing it, to be sure), she knew full well she had never vanquished an Ursa Major, and that her powers were suited only for entertainment, not heroic deeds. When she was challenged, she knew it was possible she would be bested and humiliated onstage herself, in the middle of her act, in front of the entire town. And she accepted the challenge anyway.

Indeed, if Twilight had decided to show her stuff up front, Trixie would probably have found herself being wafted out of town with a song in her ears, a milk bottle in her mouth and a chorus of jeers and laughter from the audience.

post-2150-0-14633400-1341401571.jpg

For all her many, many faults, Trixie has a strong spirit. Even when faced with a terrifying monster she knew she couldn't defeat, she still stood her ground and tried her best to save the town, ran only to escape certain death, and with her wagon smashed and nothing left for her there, could have kept on running and abandoned Ponyville altogether. Though by no means impeccably honest by nature, she nonetheless eventually admitted she hadn't vanquished an ursa when the chips were down.

Ultimately, Trixie was humiliated in front of all of Ponyville and lost everything, including her reputation, her livelihood, her home, her costumes and her stage props. Despite having not even a stitch of clothing left to her name, she still made her exit with defiant huff with a smoky puff, determined not to let even something as catastrophic as losing everything she owned keep her down.

post-2150-0-75498700-1341401589.jpg

Whether courage or denial, there's a strength in Trixie's brazen cockiness worthy of admiration.

Trixie represents a challenge. We know she's a bluffer. She knows she's a bluffer. We know she wouldn't bluff if she had confidence in herself and was satisfied with who she really is. And though she can be quite the arrogant bitch, her boastful antics are still cute in their own way.

If she were to ever honestly confront her faults, she would admit she's not really The Great And Powerful Trixie, but she's still courageous, strong-hearted, talented and pretty amazing anyway.

It's not our strengths that endear us to others, but our weaknesses.

I can't speak for anyone else, but that's why I'm a fan of Trixie.

I don't care much for Trixie, but she wasn't that bad. I mean I would be also really angry when somepony tries to ruin my show.

And magicans are entertainers, there is no need for truth in their shows. I think the behavior of the mane6 in this episode was a bit off

Not an attack for Trixie's fan, but clearly stated that she is a liar, a boaster and a jerk overall.

Yeah right

I thought the Mane 6 were being a little bashful when they called out Trixie, though. She's a magician and she was kinda doing her job.

eh she does nothing for me personally but no need to bash others who love her like Tom. For example, I cannot stand Granny Smith...CAN'T STAND HER! But that doesn't make Granny fans wrong. It just do anything for me. Love and tolerate, live and let live, like what you like and allow others to like what they like...and so forth

I actually don't like Trixie. By don't like, I mean I hate her.

She's annoying, her voice is aggravating, she's like Rarity but worse. I'm glad she was humiliated and run off.

We need to make room for Octavia anyway.

I like Trixie because a lot of elements in her personality are also in mine.

I'm not saying I'm arrogant and over confident (Well, not all the time ;) ), but I'm a performer, and you have to ham it up to attract attention. So when Trixie came on as a show pony, I automatically took a liking to her because we both perform. And like I said, sometimes you have to boast, you have to be bold, and occasionally you have to spruce up the truth xD So even though she was a tad over the top, I kind of understood her. So when the mane six (Or some of them) started heckling her and challenging her, I was pretty annoyed at them. It wasn't Trixie who started that fight, it was them. She was just performing.

And while Trixie didn't replicate what AJ, Rarity, and RD did, I'm sort of glad she didn't xD It would be kind of boring, but she managed to finish it off in a creative, entertaining (If slightly cruel xD) way.

I also liked how Trixie still tried to stop the Ursa Minor. It didn't work, but she didn't completely run off. And I liked how at the very end, she tried to keep the rest of her dignity by finishing with a bang. It would be what I would do in that situation.

So long story short, I personally like Trixie because we are both performers, and I understand her personality ^_^

ZAT IS ALL.

Every single week there's a thread that's either attacking Trixie or that quicly devolves into a Trixie debate. As this one is 5 pages long I will not start rolling out every one of my pro-Trixie arguments, but here are several reasons why I think Trixie isn't all that bad.

1) Some people like different things than you. Some people like Trixie, some do not. The problem is that Trixie is a very devisive figure. A lot of Bronies sort of dislike her, but not very vocally. A very small group of Bronies adores Trixie very vocally, and another group of Bronies vocally hates her (and there are other smaller groups too).

2) Her special talent was putting on magical performances, so you can't attack her for "showing off".

3) Part of her performance required building up a super-pony persona to wow the audience, hence part of her braggery.

4) With her competitions with three of the Mane 6:

*She may have been overly harsh with Applejack, but all three ponies Trixie embarrassed came onstage at their own will.

*It's hard to sympathize with Rainbow Dash in the pegasus's situation.

*Turning Rarity's hair green was in the realm of a silly prank, not a terrible act of evil (unless you love Rarity).

5) ALL magicians, in Equestria or on Earth, use deception/lies in their acts. It's a rule of prestidigitation (and yes, I had to do a Google search to remember the spelling on that word).

6) Trixie's show was free; she didn't demand money for attending. If ponies didn't like it, they could have just walked away, not trying to show off their own skills onstage.

As to why I like Trixie.

1) Her color scheme is fantastic.

2) She's terribly misunderstood, and I feel I need to right that.

3) Her character, a designated villain I believe, is interesting simply in how the Mane 6 oppose her and their reasons why (a discussion worthy of another topic).

4) The community of Trixie lovers is quite fun.

5) Twixie is best ship.

I will give why I like Trixie...

I just love that color scheme and the voice, both I think are great.

She is a magician, I kinda like magic, especially her showy kind, so there's another reason.

I freaking love the Twixie Ship.

I like how she was able to beat down three of the main 6 with her magic.

Her act is a show, maybe she is a little boastful, but look at RD, I mean really.

I'm just going to edit what I said about her in the thread 'your favorite pony'

My favorite pony is Trixie. I don't know why, but I liked everything about her character. She has a very cocky personality, which seems to be something fairly rare in ponies. While rainbow dash also has a rash personality, it just doesn't really appeal to me in the way that Trixie does. While rainbow dash can keep her boasting in check, Trixie can't.

Don't get me wrong though. I'd hate to meet her in real life. She's just too rude and prideful. It's just that I feel like she's somewhat of a gem of the shows writing. Everything about her clicks together to make her a very appealing, distinctive villain.

Her colour scheme really holds well together, and I absolutely loved her hat and cape~

I almost forgot to mention, she has (In my opinion) the coolest cutie mark EVER.

Her voice and color scheme are awesome, and I have always liked the arrogant, and boastful performer personalities in shows and stories.

I've been noticing that a lot of bronies have an unnatural affinity towards "The Great and Powerful" Trixie.

Since Trixie is meant to be a somewhat antagonistic character I was wondering why we seem to like her so much. Since blatant arrogance is my least favorite human trait, Trixie annoys me. I would like to know what qualities make her such a popular character.

Thank you much :)

I'm pretty cool. I think.

Also, new OC (it has a cutie mark this time!).
