general What's your opinion on Furries?

My opinion is complicated and mixed.

I can honestly respect someone who is a furry who is sensible and mature. Obviously, the fandom has a dark side and I can not respect a furry who indulges that stuff. If the world was perfect I would have no problem with the fandom, but I do confess the furries don't have any problems that the Bronies don't also have.

I think furries are based. Anthro animals are cool. Bestiality is unethical and unacceptable, but that's not what furries stand for. It's just something they get accused of.

Some of the furries I know do not seem to feel comfortable in their own bodies, or have a childish psyche or some other deep rooted complex contributing to their "furriness". Funnily enough, there is a commonality between the body types and personalities of most furries I've known.
They are nice people, very sensitive, too much perhaps. But I don't like the idea at all. In some special circumstances, it is like with those obese girls who believe they are fairies or elves. It is so funny. And I can see the weak point exposed like a pulsating vein ready to bleed... but I restrain myself. Still, I am surprised by how much people can bluff when they have been given a crappy hand for a self in life.

I don’t have any problem with it. If someone wants to dress up in a fursuit, go for it. It’s just another interest group that isn’t all that far from loving ponies or cartoons. People could make fun of me for enjoying talking ponies or thinking cartoon characters are cute and attractive, but I don’t think it’s weird or anything. Dressing up in a fursuit would be just as harmless. If you looked inside everyone’s head and saw what they were truly into, I’m sure everyone would be required to sequester themselves for the greater good of humanity. But let’s face it, furism seems pretty harmless. I don’t see any reason to have issue with it. It might get kinda hot in one of those costumes, but if they like it, rock on.

That's so cool, Dreamy. :rarity:

Been considering myself one for about 6 years now. Quite a lot of lovely people in this fandom, and I've met my closest friends in it. Hell, I most likely wouldn't be in the position I am in now if I hadn't met those people.

That said, the fandom have negative sides/aspects of it and denying those only make things worse.

Unfortunately I have had too many bad inappropriate experiences with them growing up online as a minor and even just encounters with them on Discord as an adult and that makes me distrust the community as a whole and I am critical of attempts to minimise certain serious problems within it. I'm cool with furries who AREN'T like the ones from those experiences, on a fundamental level there's nothing wrong with it.

I'd clarify as to not sound unreasonable but I don't want to break NSFW rules ^^"

I do have a fursona, but not anthro. It was just for fun :p as I do like seeing what animal people would identify themselves with etc.

I don’t have an opinion. People can do what they want. In general I don’t care that much on what people do as long as they aren’t actively harming anybody.

My brother is a furry and refuses to tell our parents. And the tiny bit I have seen of their community, they are pretty fine people. And by the way, my brother didn't show me any of the stuff  I actually looked for it.

I've known a few, and been to some meetups, and I've found the ones I've interacted with to be fairly decent.

Given I use to be a furry,  I found them to be very out going and welcoming!

I mean, we're talking about people who fantasize about being in a relationship with a fictional character of another species, sometimes extra-terrestrial.

Let me be honest and say at first I never understood it, but over time, I can see why, and as long as they're respecting other's boundaries they discuss it with, it is okay. Don't sexualize characters especially minor characters or characters with a target demographic of minors, and as long as adults keep it in their head instead, they're already cautious not to offend, disturb or upset anybody else.

Ehhhh I'm a furry myself (I guess, I have a fursona) and my feelings on the overall fandom/community are kinda varied. Depends a lot on the specific group of furries we're talking about because the fandom is huge and encompasses a lot of different types of people. But I think as an overall community they're (we're?) alright.

I really still don't understand exactly what makes a furry. Other than the fursuits I think I could probably agree with them about most everything. That looks incredibly uncomfortable and I just don't understand how it could be enjoyable. But it's their life and they have every right to do it if they want. I don't understand why otherwise sane women wear high heels either. ;)

I can't even begin to understand it, but to each their own. Nothing wrong with it that I can see.
