According to Latin America's voice of Fluttershy (mainly) and voice director in that region: Maggie Vera, tweeted her astonishment in working on an in universe fan convention. Is a convention of an in unviverse fictional work, or it's a mane6 convention? One thing for is sure: they'll make jokes at our expense   (let's face it, we give them tons of ammo for such things anyway )

It wouldn't be first time we get jokes at our expense in MLP, but this would be the most blatant if this turns out true . Remember an ICarly episode with the same premise  ?

I don't know, Meta Humor when pulled off well is hilarious but when it's not it can be pretty cringey so hopefully it's pulled off well.

I wonder what kind of convention it is, maybe it'll be like Pony Manga or something since Fluttershy is apparently into that.

As long as Fluttershy continues to get episodes dedicated to her this season, this is alright with me.

Plus it would be cool to see more of the brief anime references form Scaremaster again.

This may be the rumored Las Pegasus episode. I can see several good directions they could take this. A con is a great place to meet long distance friends IRL ... so maybe one of the characters has a pen pal of sorts that we get introduced to. Would be a good venue to touch on many of the Mane Six talents ... ala 'At The Convention'. AJ as a vendor, Rarity cosplaying, RD looking for some hard to find Daring Do collectable, Starlight trying to make friends, Fluttershy feeling more extroverted (which happens at cons), and of course ... Pinkie and the concerts.

 

I do hope they focus on the humorous or positive aspects of cons. No mayo, pillow, Final Draft, or Unicon jokes . I would also expect some horse famous jokes or nods.

Oh I hope this is the Las Pegasus thing. it would be an awesome reason to go there and we would get to see a new location for once! Something that season 5 promised a bunch of and we didn't get much. It really makes me wonder what a convention would be like in Equestria though.

If it's a Power Ponies convention, this could be one of three Spike-centric episodes since he's the only one who's really into the Power Ponies.

 

If that's the case, I hope it's not just about Spike being a bad conventioneer where he doesn't shower, accidentally wrecks 5000 bit fursuits/cosplay suits with his claws, and floods the hotel by setting off the fire sprinkler with his dragon breath.

someone on ponychan brought up the possibility of it being a MANE SIX convention. Like, as in ponies recognizing that the mane six have saved equestria and have organized a convention as fans of them, with the mane six being called in as celebrities by their fans (like how there was that rainbow dash fan club in Mysterious mare do well).

That'd be kind of funny if it happened but also have a high chance to be cringey.

Based on the new info, I wonder if this is going to be a rehash of the infamous Shatner SNL skit where a lot of fans were insulted by the whole "get a life" thing. (I thought that was funny myself, and I've even been to a Trek con.)

 

I can imagine this new character will basically be told to "relax" by whoever the convention is about and not get so caught up in the details. That kind of indicates it is not going to be a convention about the princesses or Spike or any other "real-life" heroes in the series since you can't "quibble" about facts.

 

The convention will probably be about Daring Do or Power Ponies or some other fictional series in the MLP:FiM universe.

You know? That's the first thing that came to my mind when I've posted it, but then I rechecked the source and it didn't specify if said convention it's about their world's fictional world, about the Mane6, or both (I hope for both, those are good ideas in one way or another)
