Wha? :o I haven't got anything like that where I live :( My village is full of Drowzees and Weedles.

I'm yet to see a single Drowzee. My area is full of Rattatas and Pidgeys. =/

It's pretty fun...I treat it more as a bonus to my day though and I don't really play the game as seriously as others. I joined team mystic because it seemed most of my anime friends chose it as well. I gotta say, I love the app, it makes my morning jog way more interesting and it pushes me to go much further than usual. It's also kinda nice to meet new people!

I love the art that the fandom has created for this game

That said, on the other end of the spectrum, there are people treating the team stuff like gang stuff, tagging real world locations with grafitti "for their team." Disgusting.

That is actually one of  the parts of the game that scares me a little. We all like to joke about rivalries and teams....but I can't get the feeling out of my mind that there will be some crazy minority that will go way over board.

@;

I packed up a cooler of water and headed out to a park I know PoGo players gather at...
Get to the park, the servers are down, AND a torrential downpour starts.
Wait 10 minutes in the hopes that both issues will resolve...

Ended up going to get lunch. About 3 hours later, the servers were up, and I was still near the park...

About two hundred people, from about ages 6-86, wandering around this lake and field...

It was glorious.

As for art...

This one isn't art.

Some dude caught loads of rare pokemon and was forced to trade them at knifepoint for loads of crappy ones, then went to the police about it

its only a game LOL

Your story is implausible, since trading in PoGo is not yet implemented. Please source check such things in the future.

The most likely version of what you're stating is probably the 11 people who were robbed, though the only trading therein was... well, robbery.

I finally found a Rattata near my sister's house :P Rattata's are quite rare around my area which is odd.

Who have you guys got in the Pokedex? I have a Squirtle, Caterpie, Metapod, Butterfree, Weedle, Kakuna, Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow, Clefairy, Zubat, Oddish, Venanat, Psyduck, Seel, Drowzee, Krabby, Goldeen, Magikarp, Eevee and a Dratini.

I would have more if the damn game wasn't crashing all the time.

Edit: NOOOOO. An Ivysaur just ran away from me :( it's a sad day.

My favorite moment thus far was hitting Jersey Mike's with the family in a rare outing. It being a Pokestop has no bearing on us choosing to eat there, but nice bonus is nice. I threw up a lure module while in line to order. Within 15 minutes there were about 8 people inside and a few outside the store. It's like bringing a meet-up in your pocket.

The Manager there should be putting these up all day long!

I walked/rode the bicycle for 35.4 km since Wednesday, I'd say Pokémon Go is contributing to my physical health xP

I live in the middle of nowhere, but my street is in a nature reserve and there are 5 Pokéstops and 2 Gyms within a 2-3 km radius. Unfortunately there are barely any Pokémon here and I can't see Pidgeys, Rattatas and Zubats anymore .-.

At least they bring valuable EXP in conjunction with Lucky Eggs.

Today, I evolved my Weedle into a Kakuna and caught more Weedles, Pidgeys, a Spearow and a Magnemite.

@@Rawzy, I think it's a good thing personally. I've noticed that it's sparked people into being interested in the series as a whole too. It's certainly led to some fun conversations from some of my old friends.

This attitude of elitism helps no one.

Non-Pokemon fans getting into the game just might get them into the actual Pokemon games. Or it might not. They might just be following the fad, and drop it soon. Either way, it doesn't matter - they're having fun. There's no reason people new to Pokemon can't play this game, too. We past-current Pokemon fans do not own the franchise.

As long as they don't turn out completely shunning the Pokemon franchise in every single way other than Pokemon GO, and throwing the rest of us under the bus. You know... Like Bronies did with the MLP franchise/old MLP fans. In fact, the Brony phenomenon is more comparable than you'd probably like to think. Prior to G4, the existing fandom was mostly all about the toys, as that's always been the foundation of MLP. 'Bronies' came into the franchise with a cartoon, which is just about as unconventional to MLP as Pokemon GO is to the Pokemon franchise (they're not exactly comparable, as MLP has had some animations previously, but hopefully you get what I mean).

So watch your elitism. Personally I think it's kind of fun to see Pokemon explode again. I do not think it will last long. But I laugh at seeing a table of Pokemon merchandise at my local Walmart, and Pokemon all over the news. Even pastors speaking of how Pokemon is the devil. It's just like the late 90s all over again! As long as Pokemon GO-only fans don't turn into Bronies, claiming it all for themselves, I'll enjoy it. As I said, I don't think this fad will last. I don't even know if it will really be a big deal even a month from now, to be honest.

Why should this sadden you? Shouldn't you be happy that it's becoming more popular and the franchise will have an even bigger reach? That'd be like getting sad that sometimes parents of kids who are dragged to kids movies bring friends along, who then like it.

This is one of those subjects where I think it's just a good idea to just accept that people are having fun. It's good to see people enjoying something new but watching the sort of backlash for people being like "I told you so" about Pokemon is kinda saddening. The way the franchise worked up until now didn't seem to hit it off with a lot of people and now it does. Change is sometimes good!

All I have to say is that Yellow Diamond and I had a conversation about the original game and our exploits with it. It had been years since I talked about Pokemon Red and how I was the only one I knew at college who played it ...

The interesting thing is my kids are having a blast and my youngest just grabbed the old game for her 3DS. If it is a flash in the pan thing, it at least let me relive some fun memories and had me share those moments with other friends and my kids.

Heck, on this forum there are plenty of fans, and I haven't mentioned it to any of them in the 2+ years I've been here. Pokemon Go is what is doing it. :)

I've been playing a lot and I'm currently at level 8 (close to 9). My top 5 are Flareon (600+ cp), Jolteon, Pidgeot, Magmar, and a Pinsir (360+ cp) I believe . I have to say Jolteon and Pidgeot are my faves  :icwudt: .
