Apparently the Mane 6 are going to transform into "sea ponies" for part of the film. This was revealed back in May but it still seems as though no one knows about it.

 

What are your thoughts?

I would like to see that, probably be pretty cool to see and i know a lot of people have been wanting to see the sea ponies since gen 4 started

Well at least it is going to be pretty interesting.

As someone who loves fantasy stories, movies, anime, and cartoons, having some new lore added to the world of FIM because of this is something that I look forward to seeing how it will end up.

I'm already imagining Applejack seeing the seaponies and getting a sense of deja vu.

I think its probably going to be like the breezy transformation, I.E., not really a big plotpoint, just there to help shill new toys (like how the mane six as breezies helped to advertise the new breezy species of toys, even though there weren't mane six versions)

 

the mane six will probably briefly transform into seaponies to try and sneak into the seapony city, eventually get found out, meet with the seapony leaders, and then immediately swap back to normal, end of seapony mane six usage.

Sia revealed on her twitter that she will have a character in the movie, and postet a picture of her pony. Pony, not a seapony. Normal pony. Looks like its going to be 'normal' style. Seaponies would be really cool, but its unlikly to happen for this movie

If that happens, it wouldn't be the first time Twilight Sparkle transforms into a mermaid
