Equestria needs the death penalty. The Season 6 finale is proof.

I have a theory of why Chrysalis possibly reached her hoof out. You think its possible when Thorax freely gave his love to Chrysalis... She soaked that in? Meaning that type of love she consumed altered her to a small degree?

It's possible that she did unintentionally absorb his love, but then as Ninjaed said, she had conflicting emotions. After all, she just lost her throne, her castle, her people, and her kingdom within the span of about thirty seconds. Chrysalis ultimately decided that revenge was all that mattered to her despite being given the chance to see things in a different light. Does it mean she's too far gone to be saved in the future? Not necessarily. Perhaps there is a tiny speck of love inside of her that could come to the surface.

Some have mentioned fighting a common enemy and I had talked about how this lore change could tell us more about their past, what the changelings were fleeing from. Perhaps the wendigos as well. And then there's this love being soaked in that could come into play. So as you might suspect, I put 1 and 1 together and came to think:

- Chrysalis might try to get a revenge one or few times, but then there's this new threat and she'll appear as an unlikely ally, giving them all the information she can and helping them ward this threat away from Equestria. After the events, she'd try to get away while the attention is not on her, but somepony (maybe Starlight, Thorax or Twilight.. or Spike!) will stop her and ask why she's trying to go off on her own. Cue some "because we're not 'friends' " speech before being convinced to at least give friendship with ponies a try => accepts and evolves despite herself.

Chrysalis reminds me of Megatron in terms of personality... His character has constantly remained the same. A self absorbed, arrogant and malicious character who would rather die than be wrong.

Essentially, the enemy of my enemy is my friend mantra. She would join forces with her enemies all because she needed their help to deal with something that was beyond her means. Chrysalis would use them as tools for her own benefit until their alliance was over, and then escape knowing there was one less evil threat standing in her path to victory. One thing I've learned when it comes to fantasy settings--among other settings--villains don't like other villains muscling in on their territory. They can also never work together as they are just waiting for the right moment to backstab the alliance.

Some incarnations of Megatron have gone beyond that trope such as showing concern, accepting that some things were beyond his ability to control, working with his hated enemies, and so on. But, generally speaking he has remained consistent for thirty-two years now.

Scar getting killed by his own hyena posse, Ursula getting impaled by a ship that was steered into her, and Maleficent getting an arrow to the heart are not cases where they died by their own actions. Yes, they weren't "executed" in the sense that it was decided through some legal process they should die, but each death was still caused directly by somebody else. Violently. And regardless if it happened for the right reasons, in the context of kid-friendly movie, it can still be argued that those events count as murder.

The only difference with Chrysalis is that executing her wouldn't simply be a punishment, but a safety measure to keep her from doing any more harm if she got loose again. And you know she would, because the finale proves that reforming Chrysalis is hopeless, and Tartarus has proved to be insufficient at keeping even a weak Tirek captive.

And your point is..? I do believe those all count as death due to repercussions of their own actions. Scar would count as murder, but so what? Simba didn't do it and in this case I believe it counts as "law of the jungle" considering the whole "circle of life" thing they preached through the whole damn movie, Ursula and Maleficent are no where close to murder... did you actually watch these films or just youtube the death scenes and fill in the blanks yourself? No one cares about safety measures or lines of defense of all that pointless talk in this type of show. Don't start moving the goalpost on your own thread, if she wants to start some grief, and go down fighting until the gruesome end that is one thing.... but no one will or should execute her in the context of the show. That is a controversial topic in the real world all by itself that is becoming  more and more frowned upon as the years go by. No one is going to or should add it to family friendly show such as this.

Everything I said stands.

Death completely negates the chance for forgiveness. Forgiveness is a big aspect of friendship and friendship is the main concept of this show.

They had Discord there to simply catch her and throw her in Canterlot's dungeons. Hell they didn't even need Discord.. All alicorns were present and the elements of harmony were too.

If I'm correct, they let her off if only out of respect for Starlight. She's been through the same thing and eventually came around. Their thoughts must have along the lines of: give her some time to let it all sink in, to ponder all this. After some time, we'll see her again, and then we'll see what to do. Otherwise, Discord would have simply caught her and tormented her a little bit, Discord-style.

I feel bad for her in a way. To work THAT HARD twice, only to fail. And on the second time, losing your army and racial identity. She's definitely psychologically demented now. Her plans were genius, only to be defeated by the will of the universe playing games with her.

Was Discord even needed in the finale though? That's a question I am passing onto everyone.

Of course he was! Didn't you see his one-draconequus show? He certainly did find the easiest audience to bug!

I'll admit that those one-liners of his were funny and I still get a laugh out of them. The reason I asked the question is because feel that he wasn't really all that necessary given how Starlight and Thorax were the ones who would ultimately prevail. They just saw his inclusion as a form of pandering.

Me? I'm glad Discord was included. We got to see how he functions without his magic, and it turns out that he puts himself down a lot because of it. He learned a little bit of humility during his bantering with Trixie.

They probably wanted him in a position of vulnerability in the hive to play around with him.

They were all in that position--Thorax in a different manner--due to not having their magic. It shows that unicorns and Discord rely on magic more often than they should.

I imagine Chrysalis seeing Discord nestled in the slime pod.

Chrysalis: Wait! I actually got the lord of chaos in my hive under restraints? My plan really is godly!

As i said in another thread. Pity.

She was utterly defeated. She had nothing left to turn to and was destroyed in a manner of speaking... and then she spat upon her only chance to maybe find something to salvage out of it... but she left.. with nothing... not even her dignity.

It may not have been smart to not catch her, but at the moment I don't think anyone felt she was worth the effort anymore and were just happy to have found each other and be together.

Actually, why are we considering them to have the exact same emotion? Why are we considering the whole, instead of them as individuals with their own thoughts? I'm sure Shining Armor isn't as keen on forgiving Chrysalis as Twilight the princess of friendship would be. Not to mention the changelings would have a different opinion on Chrysalis than the ponies would.

All because of that throne of hers. If that wasn't a factor, Discord alone would've dealt with the Changelings and in mere moments.

A win is a win lol. Chrysalis and Tirek have it on their resume that they duped Discord. Sombra needs to step up his game.

Don't forget that she just lost her prisoners in the Royal Family and Mane Six as well. The very same ponies her Swarm captured earlier, whom they now freed when they destroyed her throne to make up for that as their first act of repentance for their wrongdoing under Chrysalis.

Despite being a powerful spirit of chaos, Discord is very easy to manipulate if you know what he reacts to. Of course, it can also backfire against the one who manipulated him as we saw with Tirek.

Destroying the throne is only a small thing. The Changelings will need to prove themselves by doing more to build strong relations between themselves and Equestria. The Royal Family, Starlight, Trixie, Discord, and the Mane Six can vouch for the Changelings having changed, but the other ponies across the kingdom might need some reassurance first.

Yeah, but the explosion did blow the ceiling apart and cause the cocoons to fall and burst open, freeing everyone after all. They all saw firsthand that Thorax had convinced his Swarm to repent and redeem themselves through Starlight, but the rest of Equestria needs the reassurance from their sovereigns and saviors that the Changelings have truly turned over a new leaf and changed for the better, becoming one of Equestria's most powerful allies.

The Royal Family will need to show understanding and not force their subjects into accepting the Changelings for what they've become now. Such a process takes time for it to work.

And with Chrysalis still out there somewhere plotting revenge on Starlight, and possibly them again, it will take time for the Royal Family to convince everyone that the Changelings have changed for the better and can mingle with pony society properly, but if the Royal Family and the Elements of Harmony can do it, the friendships created between ponies and Changelings will be stronger and even more powerful.

The first step is forge trust and then friendship will follow in time.
