I dunno...I think there's a theory that changelings reproduce asexually...but I honestly don't think they do. There's probably a father around somewhere.

Yeah, I doubt the writers are willing to go down that path. Maybe Chrysalis got rid of him by abandoning him somewhere and drained his powers so as to not become a threat in the future.

My theory is partheogenesis. She just lays eggs because she's a Queen. All is kinda explained in the "insect" section, that's kinda how I see this changeling situation

You also have to take Hasbro into account. The writers do have free reign for the most part yet some things are forbidden and will never be shown at full value, but rather as a less than obvious reference. This is due to Hasbro not wanting to jeopardize the target age demographic resulting in loss of viewers and revenue.

Which is exactly why they won't have the show staff create a flashback scene where Queen Chrysalis poisons her mate. If she were a character in a darker series not aimed at kids, she'd probably get away with it, though.

Maybe Changeling Royals (so Chrysalis and now Thorax) can reproduce asexually. I imagine, considering the whole shapeshifting thing, that changeling gender isn't as inflexible as it is for normal living things.

In that scenario, Twilight should be afraid of the same thing happening to her. Chrysalis acts with a cool demeanour most of the time, but it hides a being of pure hatred who would love to kill in the most sadistic way possible. Blame Hasbro for not allowing her to be her true self in that sense.

Not to mention prevent them from earning any money. The fandom wants to see more "mature" themes in MLP yet that would go against the age dynamic that Hasbro envisioned. At the end of the day, they desire money above all else since they are a business, and that means certain themes are off-limits with no compromise.

Now that I think about it, if Chrysalis returns with a new batch of Changelings who are loyal to her, how would they go about explaining where they come from? I mean, Thorax gave us kind of an explanation, but not really enough to be truly invested since I feel there was much more that could have been said.
