Nope! I still like Starlight! Starlight is still AWESOME! But I dunno if I wanna make her my 2nd favorite character anymore. i'm not finding her that relatable anymore. She's turned into a friendship expert already! Although if Thorax is gonna just be hanging around Starlight and not with Spike anymore, I'm gonna start not liking her. Remember, Starlight, you hated Thorax at first, and Spike persuaded you that he's kind! Don't steal him from Spike! Luckily, that won't happen! ;)

She's still going in more or less the right direction, but the "graduation" stuff of the S7 premiere has me uneasy, and here I feel the show wants to have its cake and eat it too. She's supposedly ready to move on, except not, as she still messes everything up whenever Twilight's not around, and I feel the show has some awareness of this, which makes me confused as to why it wants to push her to some ambiguous "next level" so quickly. It's all just too fast, and I'm really starting to hope for any episode from her where she's not either self-pitying, messing everything up when left alone, or terrified of messing everything up when left alone. I'm not one of those Starlight haters, and I appreciate her complexity, but her arc is going by too fast without enough evidence that it should, and I'm finding that exasperating. If you're not gonna have other ponies be cautious about her, then give her episodes which aren't about how unstable she is. Give her any other kind of story so we can be endeared to her, or at least prove you have anything new to say with it. And introduce some freaking humour, goddamit! It's not as satisfying as the season 6 bookends.

Starlight is okay enough I guess for now, however her arc isn't really all that satisfying, and her reformation in season 6 was pretty sloppily handled.

They already rushed her whole reformation with that crappy montage at the end of season 5, where everyone managed to forgive her without her having to actually put time and effort and actually have to work for it, including her victims from the village who should have some form of PTSD as a result of her actions, who by all accounts should want nothing to do with her.

Her character arc was already rushed as it was, so I don't see what makes her graduation any worse, it's at least much more believable than her not having to face any sort of consequences for her actions and everyone just welcoming her with open arms, after she almost destroyed reality.

But on the bright side at least we aren't getting any more episodes like Every Little She Does, so her character has at least learned by now that stripping ponies of the free will is a bad thing, so that's progress right there, I suppose.

If we're going to be watching The Starlight Glimmer Show My Little Pony into future seasons, it would be nice if they could get back some of Starlight's mischievous edge. She's got such great chemistry with Trixie because they both have some of that. She can still be reformed if that's what must be, but it would be more fun and original to give us the sense that she's still a little naughty under the surface, rather than just apologizing for living and making her into Twilight Jr. all the time (while forgetting the real Twilight exists). There's no point in making her a carbon copy of someone else when she's got the potential to be a cool and original addition to the show.
