spoiler Should new writers be trusted with major characters?

I say no, and that they should start with more minor characters, who have fewer preexisting traits and, thus, can be used as clean slates. If not, we could end up with episodes like Hard To Say Anything, which, to put it kindly, was like an excruciatingly slow moving OOC train wreck.

Problem is, more writers come and leave on a seasonal bases, so there is a problem with having these kinds of standards.

And i also believe that every writer deserves a chance to write a script in the show, no matter how major the episode might be. Yes, it can be bad like Hard to Say Anything. But maybe we get gold out of a new writer.

If my studio was this untrusting to me, i will just find another one where i can earn my money.

Depends on the situation. New writers need to start at something, they kind of have write about the characters we know and love. New writers should at least do their homework on certain characters before going in, we've seen new writers come in and handle risky episodes and knock it out of the park, like Sleepless in Ponyville(Corey Powell's first episode), Pinkie Apple Pie(Natasha Levinger), Parental Glideance(Josh Hamilton) to name a few. Giving RD's wonderbolt episode to a new writer who hadn't written anything in years, and only wrote for a cop drama twice is still the most fucking dumbest thing they ever did though

Too limiting a standard. Also ignores all the examples of phenomenal writing done by new writers in the history of television.

They should hire some experience writers from well-known shows (like Hamilton), and dont trust anyone come from Fairy Odd Parents, Johnny Test, always keep those guys in checks. Good new writers are getting rare.

Joshua Hamilton wrote for Johnny Test as well.

They should hire expeirneced cartoon who were known for good characterisation like writers of Steven Universe, Avatal Last Airbender,Oriignal Teen Titans, Kim Possible etv.

They should also keep making notes about best recieved writers and give them a better contract to encourage them to further study the MLP lore and stay for more seasons.

So far the only good writers were Nick Confalone, Lady Writers and that writer who made Dash parents episode. Rest of them really either aimed at a very cliche scenarios from other cartoons with little to no depth or they flanderised the characters (mostly because they haven't seen past episodes)
