ManaMinori 4,149 July 19, 2017 Share July 19, 2017 I have been hunting for a genuine MLP G1 Takara pony for a while, knowing they were rare, but upon finding one being sold, recently, I was ecstatic, only to be floored when I saw the asking price- which was over 1k. (And I don't have that kind of money) http://www.ebay.com/itm/My-Little-Pony-Takara-Adult-Pinky-Excellent-Condition-Rare-Japan-/222581588700?hash=item33d2e582dc:g:ftsAAOSwCkZZPrD~ While there are some more financially blessed pony collectors who would throw thousands at a pony, no doubt, I just can't fathom or afford such a thing, myself. What is the most you guys have spent on a single pony? Would you pay upwards if 1.5k on a pony that you wanted? Ganondorf8 11,781 July 19, 2017 Share July 19, 2017 That kind of money is something that would take me way too long to scrounge up so I would have to say no. If I were to win the lottery somehow, then I would spend that much since I would have more than enough money.
Hierok 11,833 July 19, 2017 Share July 19, 2017 (edited) I never have given any money for dolls and stuff. So a hundred seems to much in my opinion. Dutchmen after all. ZethaPonderer 2,201 July 19, 2017 Share July 19, 2017 I rather spend all that money on a pet rock than any sort of stuffed plushy made by underpaid overworked seamstresses. Yeah, I'm watching The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Dark show, but hey it ain't afraid to tell the truth . It's debatable if rocks have feelings, but at least I can use my pet rock to start a fire when stranded in an island. Or y'know just throw it out of sheer boredom. Maybe hit someone I don't like. Or how about screw that and just use that money to donate to starving children in Africa.

Luminance 2,188 July 19, 2017 Share July 19, 2017 I don't have a thousand dollars lying around to spend on just one item. I rather have a sizable collection full of variety if I'm even willing to spend that much.

I highly doubt their selling plushies made in Detroit so they can't be that overworked and underpaid. (Man, I miss that show) As for $1,000, yeah that's way too steep. My cut off for a pony or just any merchandise I really wanted would be a quarter of that. Which I almost reached spending $150 on Special Edition Journal 3 (Still worth it though as I'm a bigger fan of Gravity Falls). 1 One of my most ambitious role playing experiences. cmarston1 5,965 July 19, 2017 Share July 19, 2017 Not at all. That is way too much money for me to spend on something like that.

Not to mention the whole globalization issue where its debatable if its benefitting The West, The East or other countries. I may want to stop since this is getting depressing XD. Steve Piranha 29,500 July 19, 2017 Share July 19, 2017 A thousand dollars for a toy? As much as I love poneh, I have a price range set, so no Sig by Discords
Tacodidra 61,948 July 20, 2017 Share July 20, 2017 That's just the asking price, no one has paid that much for it (at least yet). While that pony may be very valuable, the price means nothing until someone actually buys it. It could be worth more, it could be worth less. I think the price is quite ridiculous. But then again, if someone has extra money, is a collector and really wants the toy, why not? 1 Signature by @Sparklefan1234

Prospekt 11,039 July 22, 2017 Share July 22, 2017 For a toy? Even an extremely rare one? No way. I could think of many things that would be more worth spending thousands of dollars on. Signature by Kyoshi
Vulcan 3,256 July 22, 2017 Share July 22, 2017 Nah it just feels impractical to me, I mean if I had a thousand dollars to spend on merch I would have just spent it some high quality fan made plushies instead. It just has more bang for my buck.
Tacodidra 61,948 July 22, 2017 Share July 22, 2017 Spending a thousand dollars on a toy might not be rational, but collectors spend their money on all kinds of weird and expensive things. Someone spent 54,970 dollars on a rare Pokémon card (essentially a piece of cardboard). I'll never be able to understand why people buy expensive watches when I got mine for a thousandth of those prices and it still does its job. I think it's just that all people are a bit weird inside, just in different ways. And sometimes buying expensive stuff makes us happy, even if it's not all that useful. 1 Signature by @Sparklefan1234
Ginger Ale 724 July 22, 2017 Share July 22, 2017 I do also think it is really expensive, however, just think all the effort and quality patterns to make the plush. If it is extremely rare or one of a kind, for people who pay thousands of dollars to get the first edition of Superman Comic, it is normal and expectable. Duality 10,740 July 28, 2017 Share July 28, 2017 I would only even consider pay thousands of dollars for a single horse if it was a plushie the size of an average queen-sized mattress, and even then only if I had nothing else I really needed/wanted to buy for the next few years. 1 [ O.C. ] ~ [ Ask Thread ] ~ [ Vocabillularary Website ] ~ [ DHMO Website (educate yourselves before it's too late!) ]
