    • Yes, I guess, they look like vampires with those fangs after all. As much as they suck apple juice, they can suck blood too.

    • No way, they only crave fruits, they just attack others to leave themselves alone.

Bat ponies, race of ponies who have bat-like features, often with extra fluff at the end of their ears, have fangs, and slitted-pupil eyes. Most of them have grayish coats and can screech. People are often divided on head-canons, especially when it comes to diet (blood drinkers vs fruit eaters), but most agree that they are affiliated with the night, as well as Princess Luna and her Night Guard. Though, most people agree that the Hollow Shades is one of the only towns populated mostly/solely by bat ponies, if not the only town. Another possible location for the bat ponies is the Equestrian Badlands.

However;

What if bat ponies were able to infect others, crave blood instead of fruits and willing to bite other ponies? How would Equestria be like?

I don't think horses in equestria eat meat, and i don't think bat ponies would be interested in sucking horses blood, because i think they are the equivalent of fruit bats, bats that eat fruits and SMALL animals(Like bugs, not toy breed dogs, puppies, or that crap.) This is proven in the flutterbat episode when she eats only fruits.

As much as that would be amazing, it would be a little hardcore for a show directed to young children.

Yes, that. I don't have anything to say other than what everyone else has said.

Re-Mark confirmed that batponies are actually just regular ponies wearing armor, see the part Rainbow Dash in Nightmare Moon's Castle. Though I guess if you stretch her getting infected could be alternative explanation...

With Flutterbat, she isn't a vampire, that was just Twilight's magic going haywire and causing to gain fruit bat properties.

As for the fanon batpony race, no. They aren't vampires either, just another race of pony. Even if they drunk blood it wouldn't "infect" another pony as there is nothing to infect them with.

I agree with most of this stuff, but there are still bat ponies in Canon equestria, proved by the transformation of fluttershy. Also, you can't say that there are no vampiric batponies in headcanons. You can't generalize a fans opinion

Eh, maybe? Dash didn't have the slitted eyes or tuffted ears, like the rest of the guards in the scene. It would be weird that the armor changed everything else, but no that.

I addressed Fluttershy in the post you are quoting, I made a distinction between her and Luna's guards, which were the original bat ponies.

I used the term fanon, not headcanon. Headcanon is individual, fanon refers to something more or less established across the fandom. I very much can generalize fan opinions, it's not an absolute.

Good point, but Celestia's guards also all look identical except for special characters, so I just take it as a stylistic thing like repeat background ponies rather than a statement on canon.
